Performances like this make two things clear: first is that Zappa was clearly a musical genius whose music has lasting value far beyond its pop-culture moment, and secondly, that his *band* was pretty damn good. This music is *not* easy to play. Props to TNM for an excellent version
Seems to become more obvious over time that FZ was first and foremost a great composer... having excellent renderings of his work like this doesn't hurt.
Yeah I remember where I was and I cried instantly to my surprise... Love his music... I was at work, I had to shuffle into a corner... @@dougsattem3853
Behind all the irreverence and satire lies a great composer. FZ's music is not for the weak. And to play pieces like this one requires more than the average musician can do. Great performance.
I always envisioned this in a more Classic more Jazz Version This is as Close as it gets. And applause to the Guitarrist even attempting to Play Like Frank in 1981 to 1984 is very Hard Only very very few people can do it.
Wow, what a great job! One could hear and see that these guys have really embraced all of the magic and complexity behind Frank's music without turning this is into a technical excercise. Frank would have loved this version....
Impressively precise rendition of another one of FZ's iconic pieces. You guys keep the pulse despite all the rhythmic anomalies along the way, thanks! Subbed.
The brilliance of Zappa's compositions is that they live well beyond his arrangements. Every musician is free to reinterpret and rearrange, because the music is so precisely written. shines.
Не самое сложное у Заппы. Но интересное , и входит в мою личную десятку у Заппы. Она более структурированная , чем почти все его синклавирные и оркестровые произведения. И исполнение крутое.
Aside from the complex rhythms, Frank used a lot of whole-tone scales mixed in with exotic, world-music sounding textures, and pandiatonic harmony. Interesting. Definitely left an imprint on the composing world.
This is a highly competent rendition of the music by some extraordinarily talented musicians. I'm sure that Frank would have been impressed by the musicianship, but I don't think he would have considered this a "performance" - more like a rehearsal in front of an audience. Reading from a score on stage is acceptable for a large orchestra, because it would be too expensive to rehearse that many people to the point that they can play from memory, but an 8-piece chamber ensemble? Also, reading a note-for-note transcription of an improvised guitar solo is an impressive technical exercise, but why would you do that on stage at a live performance? I'm not criticising the achievements of the individual performers, but rather the classical institutions that continue to uphold this practice as acceptable. My students will know that this is a common and repetitive theme in my classes, but if you went to watch a play and the actors were all reading from scripts you would ask for your money back.
Maybe you’re right… but for what it’s worth, I improvised the solo in this performance, it wasn’t written out. Just was following the changes and number of bars in the chart. I think it could have been better but the problem wasn’t that it was a transcription, just hit a couple bumps in the road while improvising.

My brother in law blew one of his tweeters on this
I think Frank is smiling on this one. They did a great job on this.
Frank Vincent Zappa - December 21, 1940 - December 4, 1993
Rest in Peace, Frank.
You are sorely missed.
Odd feeling to realize Zappa is a 20th Century composer, when his influence so bleeds into the present, nearly quarter way through the 21st Century.
I vividly remember where I was when I heard of his passing. Man was a genius. And these guys crush it

Nicely done. Frank Zappa's music is never an easy undertaking but it almost seemed natural for you guys.

There's a jazzy version on "make a jazz noise here"
Very good choice and very good rendition. Hats off for keeping the groove all the way through !
Zappa = contemporary classic musik + fun. (The last part seems to be missing in the mind of many other composers.)

Nice very nice… thanks for the music. Love the electric guitar … has to be there!!!
Quite enjoyed this. I think FZ would have approved.
Bravo!!
It's great to hear Zappa's work being performed with such skill!!!
frank's music always played skillfully right from the start with Freak Out. Uncle Meat was a high water mark for skilled performances.
Sounds good
Very cool arrangement!
So happy to see yer playing one of my alltime favourits
Nice arrangement of this ridiculous difficult piece

Great effort.
On the on my ears..point. - Happy.
This has a nice jazz groove to it. Not as powerful as Frank's versions, but they definitely get it.
never underestimated and that's it
Great
Zappanale 2024…please
Well done you ensemble try yellow shark? Bit harder ? As design for Europe market ?😮still great performance well done very difficult to play?
I hear Linda Rhonstadt is looking for a pianist
Frank is comparable only to Bach & Mozart. His Music will be played & studied in the Future with them.
Nope
Just music. What else did you want?

Is it me, or does ZAPPA hurt aa bit?
Bring the brass to the front.
academic approach to Zappa's composition, unfortunately without feeling

I am sorry but that snare drum sounds horrible. it's not supposed to go Goosh it's a snare tighten it.
Truck driver divorce........
not a real going on ...a n not doing better
Respect for trying but poor
Sorry but hearing this really puts in perspective how insanly Zappas band members where. This to me is a bit soulless and squarey
Could it be because, unlike Zappa's crew, they are reading dots on paper?
@@christopherlawley1842 Probably...
