    I have no good reason to watch this as I never intend to do this job on my vehicle, but I just like Eric's methodical way of doing things and his dad humor.

      I know how to do and have done many many of the things I’ve watched Eric do. I watch because Eric has such a way about him, his methodical way of getting to the solution that I still have to watch. He has a wicked sense of humor and specializes in sarcasm.
      This beats watching tv hands down!

    I love the way Eric O says "it has the big...engine." I laugh every time because they are never ever larger than 3.5 liters. In my youth I spent 6 months making sure that engine was properly dropped into the frame during final assembly at the Oldsmobile factory in Lansing. The "big" Rocket Engine was a 7.5 liter V8. Yes my children that is NOT a typo, it was 7.5 liters (455 cu in). It was rated at 370 hp at 5,200 RPM and 500-lb.ft. of torque at 3,600 RPM. In the Toronado it delivered 7.5 miles to the gallon. Ah those were the days.

    Used to work at a dealership back in the 70s. On good days a mechanic would get into a place that was full of let's say, passion for the job! And talking back and forth to the mech in the next bay . It would sometimes sound like a romance novel. Well at some point it would spread all the way to the seventh bay . And then the whole shop would be going on about how deep sockets and long drives were used! That is what keeps you going back to work day in day out. If you listen and don't watch it can be a whole different video. Thanks Eric O. bringin' back to the days.

    Watching your brake job videos have helped me so much in getting better at doing my own brakes. No more scraping noises, and I’m always putting permatex on the places you do. I’ve also adopted the practice of using fluid film on the hub assembly. I’ve learned a lot from your wheel bearing videos as well, busting out my own version of big nasty to break her loose but I’ve had luck with a slide hammer so I didn’t have to employ the nut and bolt method. Thanks again Eric.

    When you work in a shop environment you do what you have to. Get it done to fix the problem is what you are trying to achieve. You are way more thorough than other mechanics I've seen. I worked at a shop that was all about are you done yet I have another one.

    • @mattmanyam
      @mattmanyam ปีที่แล้ว +3

    • @CigarsnWhiskey
      @CigarsnWhiskey ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mattmanyam even in a flat rate environment you need to fix the problem. Not give the customer a bs reason that you can't figure it out. I thought the mini, non-reverse light issue was funny too... could see as soon as you started taking it out, that it was a fog light... small cars often have 1 reverse, 1 fog. I had no idea what you were planning to test, at one point I thought you were going to get the fog light working off the switch... 🤣
    I do, however, learn a lot of other stuff from your videos... Some of it pretty useless, as I don't live in America or drive an American (or Japanese) car. A brake job's a brake job right enough. Very few differences when it comes to a lot of the basics. Especially with how rusty cars get in NY and here in Scotland.
