Ripley nuked the Derelict. There is no way she would have left LV-426 without doing so. It's the only way to be sure!
Unless she was sure the planet was destroyed but I don’t think the planet was destroyed they wouldn’t have made it far enough if the planet blew up

dont think she would even have the authority to do so plus she didnt even inspected the shuttle after she dumped the queen....... hard to argue with what her canon chracter (not what she logical WOULD have done ) actually did.
Ripley didn’t Nuke anything, the Atmospheric Processor at Hadley’s Hope went critical and exploded with the force of 40 Megatons but there’s no way of knowing if the Derelict was close enough to get engulfed in the explosion or even if a Nuclear Explosion would be enough destroy it.

Wouldn't it be cool if the explosion re-activated the ship and put it into like an emergency mode that sent a signal to the other engineers? Then we could get a movie or comic or something where the engineers fight xenomorphs to retrieve the ship! (It's kind of a stupid idea, but I'd like to see it)
That would make for an epic story!!!

It was destroyed. The company was given the location of the derelict by Ripley, which is how Burke was able to send a private surveyor team to find it.
Yet they spend a great deal of time/effort trying to get to the prison colony in A3 as it was their last hope of securing an alien specimen. If the derelict was still intact, they wouldnt have bothered with hurrying out to Fiorina 361
Not necessarily. The escape pod in A3 sent them scans of a live alien inside Ripley which is why they hurried to the prison world.
That doesn’t mean the derelict wasn’t still intact on the moon, just lost in the terrain.
Most say it was nuked and gone...no Prometheus showed how durable it was against man made ship it didn't even take a dent. So some nuke with it being miles out not even in the radius... I'm sure it survived. But who knows they'll never make a proper sequal about Lv 426... always this work around the subject... with theories.
You’re right I believe the ship survived. But I think returning to lv426 only would serve as fan service and nothing more
I never liked the idea of "engineers", space jockey was an extraterrestrial, whose ship was infested by Aliens. The original idea by Dan O'Bannon never mentioned engineers and in my opinion it takes away the focus (just like David) from Aliens.

My idea for a third alien/prometheus movie is as follows:
The engineers are the main characters in the movie and comes to the planet that was in the Prometheus movie.
There they find Weyland inside the crashed spaceship. They have a blue elixir which they empty all over him and bring him to life.
But while doing this the Deacon from the Prometheus movie sneaks into their spaceship and hide it self in one of the ventilation chambers.
In the next part they arrive at the planet from alien covenant and find the other robot(Walter) who is david's twin.The engineers use the blue elixir and repairs him.
Once awaken the engineers and Weyland get to know all the horrible things that David has done, and weyland says "we have to stop David" .
They set course for origae. When they arrive,they scans all the planet,and finds the planet is full of hostile organisms except
on a high mountain where they discover that there are humans inside a cave.
Inside the cave they meet a herd of children, who tell that when they had lived on the planet for over ten years,
they began to be attacked by Xenomorphs and all the adults died or were turned into these creatures.
There were also great giants developed by someone the children calls David.
The engineers get ready to wipe out all the Xenomorphs that David has created, but the great giants manage to escape with one of the engineers' spaceships.
The engineers and Weyland hunts the spaceship and manage to force the spaceship down on the planet lv426.Where it start sending a distress signal.
The engineers return to Origae to find David, but discover that he has escaped.
In the last part we see David arriving and meeting an unknown alien species
on a tropical like planet.
But when he and the unknown aliens have left the spaceship,the deacon slips out of the ship and is seen running toward the nearest settlement.
And that makes the cliffhanger that ends the third movie.

No. It sucks. I want the Space Jockeys back. They are the masters of the Engineers. And I don't want Scott to make anymore movies. Project: ACHERON is the rightful Heir because of his beliefs and theories and storytelling to Alien. I'm not kissing his butt, I'm stating a fact. Scott is senile and I could care less about his nuttiness for androids and replicants. We need to course correct the franchise and acheron's the guy for it.
Some interesting thoughts: bringing the deacon back for example, or Engineers reviving Walter, but I have a couple of remarks:

Granted, the Engineers are uber high-tech, but they aren't necromancers. It will be better if they would have just revived Walter, and I would have cut Weyland out, RIP Weyland.

Interesting idea about kids, I would have cut out "giants" all together, and made kids completely wacked and unable to talk. Engineers could have just used some kind of their high-tech stuff to read their minds.

You mean this pre-historical relic Derelict, which crashed in LV-426 aeons ago, with the Space Jockey which had fossilized (scientifically speaking it takes around 10 000 years for anything to fossilize if it ever does) was your "giant" and all the story happened right after the Covenant? Come on, this ship was there forever, they definitely need to find some better explanation at least conform to the story of the original Alien. The whole spirit of the original Alien (1979) was that these Space Jockeys were long extinct. Why otherwise would they have left their ship full of eggs and the Space Jockey just hanging on out there? Whatever happened in the Derelict, happened a very long time ago. As ultra-sophisticated as this ship once was, extremely lenghthy periods of time wore it out (you can clearly see in Alien (1979) that it was dilapidated) and the only two devices still functionning were the transmitter and the egg chamber with all these eggs under the "blue laser" in a state of forever stasis. Which makes sense, even us poor humans are capable of making extremely durable storage facilities for our dangerous materials which last very long.
They gotta find some cool answer to the Derelict mystery, and cool enough not to mess up Alien-1979 itself, the way The Dark Fate had messed up Terminator-2, which you cannot even watch, knowing that Johnny-boy will be shot couple of days later by an another T-800. Same about the Derelict. The coolness of the answer should be equal to the coolness of the mystery.

But otherwise, I agree, I want answers: "Who they were?", "Why they abandonned us?", "What did we do wrong, why do they hate us?"
I think it survived the atomic blast though it might have been slightly damaged but its deadly cargo still safe
I'm sure it was far enough away from the colony to survive the blast. It was probably miles away

In the audio book It was roughly 50 to 80 miles away from hadleys hope colony! Plus there are more than one atmospheric processors on Archeron about 30 processors around the globe! So it stands to reason it would and could survive the nuclear blast! But also depends on the geography of the land if it was hidden enough to survive the blast!
Unless all the eggs went towards infecting the colonists
I don't think the Space Jockey is an Engineer. It has a mouth with visible teeth, it doesn't have a helmet and has a more natural design(still biomechanical but more natural than the suits of the Engineer suit) like the Xenomorph.
If you search up VR Narrative The Pilot, the rendition and design of the Space Jockey is exactly like that of the one we see in the 1979 Alien film. The only way to find out is if Ridley Scott showed the Space Jockey in the new film(though a recent article states that the Alien Awakening is not gonna be a sequel to Prometheus or Covenant).
In all honesty, as a kid, I knew the difference from the Space Jockey and Engineer pilots straight away.
Just my personal opinion though. Very interesting video as always, keep up the great content!

The space jockey in Alien was huge yet the engineers are slightly larger than humans. How can they be the same lifeforms? I guess Ridley Scott will explain that with the black liquid in Prometheus.
Even the original H.R. Giger's Space Jockey had an air hose and not a trunk.

I was thinking about the room where the space jockey is. The ship, being a living thing at one time, may not have had walkable corridors. The main chamber could have been filled with tissues and other supporting tubes and whatever to support its existence. Think about all the crap thats inside your rib cage while alive, then look at a skeleton. It would be hard to fathom what was in that now empty space if you had no context. ...And another thought: The ship and the xenos share alot of the same characteristics, which means they could be genetically similar down to acid blood and more. SO, how did the hole in the floor near the space jockey get there? It should, in theory, be acid proof cause they share similar biology.

Certain ones share the biology of humans yet still have acid blood destructive to human tissue.
And a final option- that after defeating the Alien Queen, Ripley was being thorough and with help from Hicks and Bishop and nukes the Engineer ship from the sulaco in orbit.

I mean we know from Aliens: Colonial Marines (2013) that the Derelict survived the nuclear explosion and was last seen infested with Xenomorphs, colonial marines, and Weyland-Yutani personnel. After that there is no telling what happened to it. But perhaps it's most likely Weyland-Yutani continued studying it, or maybe it was destroyed by some later events. No one knows. Yet.
Aliens Colonial Marines isnt canon though. So i dont cover it here.

I know Bishop mentioned being in a cloud of debris the size of Nebraska, but I'm not sure he's talking fallout range or explosive force of the fusion reactor going critical.
What I really want to know about that ship is where it was going and why and how the ship was overcome by the Xenos? What happened to the crew? We only see the fossilized remains of the ships pilots.

Hmm hard to say to it's destination if Ridley Scott Retcon isn't applied. a good possibility is The Ship had Xenomorph Eggs already from the Engineers Raid Pickups in Xenomorph Prime or Hive world as it's other name. ignoring Scott Retcon the Xenomorph already Existed during or even before the Engineers. I Digress a Egg or more escaped containment as a Hybrid more terrible and powerful came from the Engineers massacred its crew up to more eggs being free lached to the Space Jockey piloting the Ship and it crashed on a planet known by its Designation Lv 426. To which in the mass amount of time passed The Xenomorph Engineer Hybrid died off by time while the rest of the eggs in 1 cargo didn't get disturbed and waited untill the events in time in Alien 1

@@kennylee5621 in all likelihood The Hybrid left the ship since its crash. And died away by the passage of time. How ever there is a novel for the Aliens that gives a little more light in that ship during the Hybrid Birth. Alien the River of Pain is a Novel that gives a little more light as to what else happened to the crew there and more. I believe the You tube channel Alien Theory made a Video he made based on that Novel called What Happened to Newts parents inside the Derelict. It was Most Insightful giving Novel read I'd recommend.
Forgive me for mentioning the unholy game. But it is believed that the xenomorph known as “The Raven” from Colonial Marines was the alien that emerged from the Space Jockey. Granted that would mean it would not only have to survive the several million years the derelict was untouched but the additional 40 years since the Nostromo incident & the Atmospheric Processor overload
The derelict is still intact while Hadley's Hope is gone. Alien eggs waiting there for their next victim(s).

I would have imagined that Hadley's Hope sent a group of colonist with at least one medical team to investigate the ship after Newt's family found it. They might have tried to destroy it, unless instructed not to by the company. If it did survive after the blast, it would be either covered with radioactive ash, thus masking it from detection. Plus the whole area would be contaminated thus preventing exploration for 100 years or more? Although just how far was it from Hadley's Hope? A day's journey or more?
I aways hated that the ship lies broken in Aliens after only 50 years, it robs it of some of its impact & weakens the idea that it's been there for thousands of years.
Ripely seemed to be very thorough so she could well have had Bishop and Hicks instruct her on how to use the nuclear weapons onboard the Sulaco. She would nuke that ship to make sure the derelict was taken out to close that off for ever.
That would make sense. I would. The only thing that may be a problem is being a civilian and a synthetic they may not have the clearance to launch nuclear weapons. However I don't see any reason that Bishop couldn't use the many other heavy weapons on the Sulaco to vaporize the alien ship. But I could be wrong.
@@JimboLogic yeah I’m assuming there is some command authority and when hicks became senior he would have the authority. Assuming of course that Bishop does not have ultimate loyalty via hidden sub routines to the company.
@@AceAcabras I think Hicks was knocked out. Bishop gave him a sedative for the pain and we don't see him wake up for the rest of the movie. But that doesn't mean they didn't wait until he woke up and said "Hay, do the nuke thing." And then knocked him out again. And I do remember Hicks agreeing to take off and nuke the site from orbit when he was in command. So that would lead me to belive he did have the authority to do so because he also pointed out problems with other suggestion bringing up technical or logistical problems, but he didn't with nuking the site from orbit.
@@JimboLogic agree. Like I said the biggest obstacle I see to this is if Bishop has some sort of hidden program that would stop him at make him subtlety interfere with this in some way because of the special order 937. But he was already cut in half by the queen.
Maybe he would lie and say that only a commission officer can authorize a nuke strike and only Gorman had that access code.

Wouldn't Ripley have reported the location when she need the answer to the hearing we saw in Aliens. Burke knew the location as well, so it stands to reason WY knows the location of the ship
The other factor is the geo-engineering ("Shake and Bake" as they put it in the movie) that was altering the planet's weather and atmosphere. While previously relatively sheltered in the valley where it lay, it was subsequently exposed to heavy rains and probably deteriorated rapidly.
In Prometheus a ship is exposed to the rain and intense storms of paradise long enough for plants to grow inside of it. This proves it isn't going to degrade rapidly in human atmosphere.
Well technically the atmospheric processor was close to Hadley's Hope and far from the Ilium Plateau. So it obvious that the derelict wasn't affected by the nuclear blast.
During the events of Alien Colonial Marines, the derelict is the ground zero of Weyland & Yutani Origin research base. After the fall of the installation, all was left on the moon without control and we can reasonably think that the various hives on the moon could be unified by a new queen.
The moon itself and the derelict are to consider hostile territory under the rule of xenomorphs for the whole rest of Alien universe time-line.
Even during the events of Alien Fireteam Elite and Alien Sea of Sorrow.

@@ProjectACHERON after all, after the events of Aliens: Colonial Marines (the game) there no further mentions about LV-426. The moon was left forever. With the only exception of a space spation in orbit of it tasked of the "searching for survivors"... Company led, it obvious they are searching for xenomorph survivors.
It got scrapped because the emissions system was to costly to repair and a Chinese version was cheaper.

Its not exactly known, the coordinates were only know by a select few individuals that all died before being able to pass that information on. But we know its somewhere in the area known as the ilimum range

This is a good attempt at explaining it away, but overall, I’ve always seen the existence of the Derelict on LV-426 as a gigantic plot hole in both “Aliens” and “Alien 3.” There’s zero evidence that it was close enough to Hadley’s Hope to have been destroyed in the atmosphere processor meltdown at the end of “Aliens” (otherwise, the colonists probably would have stumbled upon it much sooner if it was within 30 km of them), so it’s odd that Ripley and the Marines act as though nuking the colony is enough to wipe out the Xenomorphs. Indeed, everyone pretty much acts as though the Derelict doesn’t exist and doesn’t contain thousands of unhatched eggs for almost the entire second half of the film. Maybe the writers expect us to believe that after the new Queen set up her hive in the processor, she had her drones march all the way back to the Derelict to bring over all of the eggs to the hive, but that seems unlikely. Likewise, in “Alien 3,” the Company shouldn’t have been so interested in Ripley and the “dogbuster” running around on Fury 161, when they knew that the Derelict was still on LV-426. (Further: Ripley should not have sacrificed herself at the end of the movie expecting that it would make any difference in preventing the Company from getting alien specimens.)

The theory that the blast did affect the geology of LV-426 and the Derelict was consumed by volcanic eruptions and/or earthquakes (as you discuss here) is as reasonable an explanation as any. If it's true, though, then it should have been addressed in "Aliens," and I'm sure that a simple scene could have been filmed to clear it all up. (For example: At the end, Ripley looks at sensor screens on the "Sulaco" and sees that the Derelict was consumed by a tectonic plate shift, post-blast.) I'm still more inclined to see the Derelict as a giant unresolved plot hole in the later movies.
I think the damage to the ship was most likly due to the effect of the Teraforming process not some gelogical nonsense. Even the blast of the reactor woundt do much to anything a bit away. there is a reson you need a number of fairly powerfull nukes to destroy a lage city physical (instead of just iradiate it)

Weyland Corp has the alien derrelict ship and their reverse engineering it
Is that even Possible given the age of the ship surely it's machinery has detreated due to how long it was abandon on LV-426
I seriously doubt that they are reverse engineering it considering the bio-mechanical nature of the craft, it might not even be possible to do so! But i definitely belive that they have it and are planning to study it entirely

If you remove the Hicks issue...which is what a lot of fans have a problem with, the rest of the game story is solid.

Okay here’s something to think about alright and bear with me. So in the first alien we encountered the Derelict and the egg stasis in the cargo hold. So who the hell made those eggs? If David from Alien: Covenant created the modern form of the alien then how the hell did those eggs end up on that ship if it is far older then the prequels that were made? David then left on the colonist ship with the embryos. Ridley Scott fucked up his own story with David and the derelict ship. I also don’t see anyone questioning that. If someone could explain how those eggs were created and if David was somehow the space jockey would be the only logical explanation. Seriously I need answers and hopefully someone has the answer.

I think River of Pain indicated Anne and Russ stumbled on a queen?? My thoughts on how David ‘created’ the xenos was that he figured out how in the absence of a queen bee.

If you go with the established Story or Canon then the Ship it's self ether got Destroyed in the Nuclear Explosion or at least was so far from it. It didn't get effected by it and still stays in its spot as a graveyard. Or if your going with Ridley Scott Poor Retcon story the ship it's self Never Existed in its events as with how it crashed in LV 426 it's self. Since His Retcon has about currently Zero Connections to the Storyline and all.

The nuke was approx 550 miles away from the colony. So nothing should have happened except natural volcanic activity. Lava flow ash etc.. but should still be there as the blast was approx 40 megatons so 550 miles away is way out of danger zone except radiation and fallout.
If you believe that colonial marines deserve to be canon, apparently a 40 megaton nuke didn't even damage Hadleys Hope in any remarkable way

The processor was less then a 1km from the colony and it exploded with a force of 40MT. The colony was glassed.

@@ProjectACHERON That's more rumor than anything else and I don't buy it. Even if it were true it doesn't matter anymore because Disney seems to be basically establishing everything that came before in the Alien/Predator franchise as relevant. Besides it's an official product they put out and should be mentioned.

they went back to LV-426 and its worse, the aliens glow white with radioactivity. Comics does a great job of keeping the source material. Also whoever owns the rights to aliens is lucky to have such lore and backstories already made, if they did 50% of effort what they did to the marvel movies it would be awesome. Marvel is plain terrible now and the movies ran out of ideas and characters. All the while a franchise like aliens just sits collecting dust.
