Excellent idea for me Danny and is a 68-year-old woman I could even conjure one of these up. I always saw the ones with just a piece of pipe and you dropped it down but I've got the coffee cans might have to get a couple of tees wow this would make things so much simpler. Bless you for your mind you are a planner and a builder and do so many great things please teach them all to us.
They work well. I just use an old piece of pvc. No funnel or measuring bit but the measuring bit is very smart. I have an apron that I put the seeds in tho but the coffee can on top sure makes sense.
Danny, I am so impressed with how well you are adjusting to the cricks and limitations of old age. I get angry my body don't work right, brother, and then have to pray my way back to acceptance. This is inspirational in more ways than one. I personally use the sit and scootch method-- takes time to get down there but gets the job done
You should check back a couple videos. Danny bought a rolling garden seat that really looks perfect. I showed my hubby and told him that next Christmas/ birthday (about a week or so apart lol)this is what I want but in green. Its the cutiest thing. My dear hubby then said at that price we can get you one for morhers day.. I will make a seat cushion tho. It has to be easier than my 5 gallon bucket with pillow I scootch around the garden in now lol
For every minute of anger, the body’s immune system goes down for 4-5 hrs. One minute of laughter raises the body’s immunity for 24 hrs . Just accept it and laugh knowing you’ll get by fine
I don't have any problem bending over, it's the getting back up that's a ...pain! Necessity is indeed the mother of invention, and I'm glad you found a way to make things easier. Happy Planting!
Hi, Danny and Wanda! Your new seed planting device is sweet! I'm 65, with a hip replacement gone bad, so this is a divine contraption! I refuse to sit idly, and have a tendency to over do things. This will be a huge help! A million thanks!
Fourteen years ago I hurt my low back putting on my pantyhose and I still can’t work like I used to, raking, sweeping, reaching to the top shelve, lifting my grand baby’s, twisting, and forget about bending over repeatedly, this planter looks like a God send!! I don’t know why I didn’t think of it, my life ended 14 years ago and I feel like I might start life again in a garden, thank you, thank you, thank you. By the way, did you know that you can eat the leaves of the beans and several other vegetables? You must. Happy Spring, Cindy
I’ve watched Deep South Homestead for quite awhile and never commented BUT Danny your bean planter is amazing. So simple but ingenious! I called my husband in to watch. Love watching all you two do. God Bless you from Augusta GA
I feel your pain, Danny, literally I guess. lol With all my messed up joints I have buckets, feed tubs, chairs, stools, etc. here and there to sit down on. I know some think it's just pure lazy but you can actually get quite a bit done sitting down. You gotta do what you gotta do. It's better than giving up and laying on the couch.
I'd put another 6" pipe straight across from the other at the bottom and a 90° on each end going down lower than the seed pipe and cap them off to keep the seed pipe from touching the ground. It would have better stability, and would also mark where your next seed will go.
I absolutely love these videos where you show the actual planting of the seed. It's getting me more familiar with seed depth. I know that the packages tell you but to actually get a visual on it really does help.
I just shared this with my son and told him I want one. I'm 71 and it gets harder every year to plant. Thank you for an affordable solution just in time to plant.
I just love your new planter, you got your own patent. Go for it Danny!!! I would buy one, being up in age I can’t bend good no more either. Blessings to you both !!! ✝️💟
Mr Danny I love this idea! I just watch the video again, so I could make sure I got it right. I may not need it for my knees but seeing how it saved on seeds & knowing my spacing is perfect has sold me on this. Thank you 🙏
This is amazing. I am going to have hubby make one for himself. He's 73 and just started having knee trouble. This is perfect and I just emptied a can of coffee. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us. it's inspirational. Bless you both.
Now try making it 2 ft wide with 4 pipes 6 inches apart. 😁 See what you started? Great minds for simple tasks! Thanks for all you do. I appreciate your channel so much!
Mr. Danny, this video brought back so many memories for me. Years ago (probably in the 90s) I developed some health issues and couldn't bend over to plant our garden as I had always done, too. I made nearly the same exact contraption as you did to plant all our seeds! Admittedly, you made a couple improvements over my invention, but I even used a coffee container, PVC pipe, etc. I was able to make most of it myself and what I couldn't do, my husband helped me with. It was SO MUCH EASIER to not have to bend! These days, we plant most of our stuff in raised beds because we are older now, but if we did have to go back to truck gardening like before, I would be digging my contraption out again. Thank you so much for your great content and most of all, your love for the Word of God and truth. We really do enjoy your talks about everything and can relate to everything you say. God bless you and Mrs. Wanda!
I love that idea, it is genius! We are mid-sixties now & things just aren't as easy as they used to be. We still do everything, just at a little slower pace. Many Blessings!
You have many senior citizens comments with similar physical issues. At 72 years old my thoughts are, just wait. Getting old is not for sissies. One suggestion and one question. If you raised the trellis up off the ground it may make weeding a little easier. Would it be ok to plant on both sides of the trellis?
Love it... HalleluYAH 💯 I can't bend over either and have wanted to plant a garden for 3 years now... THAT SIMPLE DESIGN ...will change my Life 🥳🌾🍃🌻🌿... I love fallowing you both...Thank you Danny & Wanda🦋 When you live in California and have a couple acres that's like GOLD. I have lived in California my entire 58 years... and I HATE what it has become... I belong in the woods😉🌲🌿🌻🍃
Love this idea . One thing I’m gonna do is on the space side add another T facing down , add a short piece in it to hit the ground. That way the straight pipe will not get clogged and u don’t have to hold it up. I have a bad back and I will be fixing this .
You have created a, "work smart not hard" tool. As I've gotten older I have to work smart, but sometimes you cant avoid it. I've learned so much watching you and Wanda. Thank you.
I love that self made planter. I have issues with my back and legs so that would work for me very well. I even have pipes and connecters that would be perfect for me!
This is such a great helper tool Danny. I am going to have my son make one for me. I can not get down or bend over either anymore. I have been trying to figure out how I am going to plant. Now I know. Thank you so much
Great creation! Last year I just used a piece of PVC and put the seeds in my pocket. I showed this to Brett tonight and said....I want one! LOL Thanks for sharing the Never Bend Over Again planter! ~ Stephanie
Nice! You could put a little bottom extension or "heel" of some sort away from the exit port so the exit port never hits the soil and so never plugs up with soil .
a wood spike on the end with a wide hole on the side (for seed drop) of the spike would mark the earth where the seed fell making it easy to space the next seed as well as steady the pole each time you release a seed. The spike could also be used to set the depth.
Hoss Tools, Jung, Seeds N Such, Vermont Beans and Totally Tomatoes are my go to seed suppliers, great seeing someone using Jung seeds as well. Yep, the older we get, the more creative we have to be to get around our aging bodies, if we had only made things a little easier on ourselves all through life we would be in much better shape physically now. Your garden is coming along nicely, cold weather can't hold it back much longer, hot weather is just around the corner, well done Danny!
We've been using a PVC pipe for 4 years now. I have a garden apron for my seeds. I like the measuring pipe & coffee bucket idea. I also got me a rolling seat that helps for weeding.
I'm going on 80, and I gotta tell ya, you are what American ingenuity is all about. That is so simple, yet effective. and it will save my back and knees. Bingo! Thank you so much.
I should have mentioned that I don't have a large farm or anything like it. I have a garden that I'm going to take a shot at. Also, I started telling my neighbors about your invention, and we're going to get together, everybody holding one of these things and we'll help each other with the planing. Thanks again.
Wow thanks for sharing! I have knee problems too. I bunged mine up tilling the garden with a rear tire tiller. I have always used a plain PVC pipe, but I love your additions you have made. I will be adding the extras to my PVC pipe. You and Wanda have a great channel. I love it.
"Southern Prepper 1" yt channel had a video not too long ago, and he asked people to give their tips for planting seeds (he was doing a "Seed Giveaway" for his viewers). And one of the "tips" was from a lady, who said she uses a cardboard tube from a roll of wrapping paper, and she walks along the garden row, and drops a seed down through the tube, and then uses her foot to push the soil over it. So this can work too if someone hasn't gotten to the store yet to get the supplies to make one like Danny's here. Which, by the way is a really cool invention you got there Danny! "Necessity is the mother of invention"! Yes it is.
I've seen those same pipe planters on other channels and when yours popped up I went out and scrounged parts. Improvements I uncovered that you may want to incorporate: heat the fill end of the pipe and use a metal chisel, wedge, cone to open it into more of a funnel. Second is find a small weight to tape near the bottom of the tube and it will move along smoother. Third is wrap a wire or long tie strap around the bottom of the tube with a clothespin or binder clip to adjust the spacing (or just kink the wire where you need it).
I use a piece of PVC pipe with a mid-sized butter container attached to the pipe. I used two zip ties and super glue to attach the container to the pipe (use what you have). I use it for peas, corn , beans and other seeds that are of the firm, mid-size types. For small seed like radish, lettuce and carrots I don't need a planter as mine all go into my raised beds that are about two feet high. I plant the raised beds sitting on my old knee scooter that I got when I had surgery on both ankles. I just sit on the scooter and work down both long sides of the raised beds. Getting older isn't for whimps! God bless & keep growing.
This is a proud moment! What a great concept I love the fact that you use Maxwell House coffee can and the three quarter inch PVC pipe I love this great job Danny.
Nicely done. This is why I've been working to build raised beds. I've had joint issues for decades, and I don't see them getting any better as I get older. I figure I need to eventually have everything raised.
You can put a second tee before your bottom measuring piece. Tee down and immediately put a cap on. Keeps your pipe from getting clogged. Thanks for sharing this with us!
Good Morning Mrs. Wanda and Danny (ladies first, sir.) I'm probably y'alls biggest fan due to the fact that I've watched every one of your videos...(some a couple of times over), but this morning kinda touched me a different way. I'm 67 years old and I took on a project on my homestead by building a 24' x 36' x 10' tall garage/shop by myself, on top of the concrete slab that I had professionals do. I had no help, didn't want any, and after building the trusses and installing them, and all of the 4'x8' roofing material, at the end of the day (after walking up and down my extension ladder with roll upon roll of tar paper, I took a shower, sat down with a cup of coffee and watched my chickens play, and as the sun was going down...I thought that my dog-gone knees and legs were going to explode from the pain. I mean I could hardly stand up and it took almost two weeks for me to adjust. Thank the lord for Ibuprofen!!! But that said, I'm in N.E. Oklahoma on a 20+ acre homestead, and I do agree with you about this weird weather, and I've got to get my garden going ASAP too! Keep up the good work folks, and may the Good Lord keep and bless you both!
This is awesome, Danny! I haven't had cartilage in my knees since my 20s. I've been disabled ever since. I'm too young for a total knee replacement, but I'm okay with that. I'm now almost 50. This contraption you made is perfect for me; thank you for sharing! I'll have my husband make it for me this weekend. TA-DA!!! 🤣 Love you guys! ❤️
Thank you Danny! I've had that problem for many years. I'm going to make one. You can use Epley manuever or see a physical therapist for that. If, when you lay down, you get nauseating dizzy, you've probably done it accidently. So, don't move, but find a focal point and stare into it until it stops. Your eyes will be darting, but it's ok. The brain, eyes, and ears are resetting.... Rest a minute after the spinning stops before you change positions. Get up slowly. I also have a chiropractor that I see every year once my garden is in. Apparently I have multiple causes for the vertigo. Hope it helps. I know how miserable and debilitating it can feel. Thanks again for your ingenuity.
I got the spare parts with a red Folger coffee can. I had to adjust my ways 3 years ago at the age of 70 when I broke my wrist. Necessity is the mother of inventions. Thanks Danny and Wanda
Great idea and it made me smile...I knew I'd find better uses for those coffee containers I store :) Now, it won't help with tiny seeds like carrots, but it sure works great for larger row crops. Thanks for sharing!
Love this! I've seen others with similar concepts, but it's the addition of the coffee container for me. I've always said, "yeah that's a cool idea but what about the seeds?" I'm not always so graceful. I can see me now trying to hold the seeds and the pipe and move down the line...then oops! Seeds all over the ground and there I go all stooped over with my rear-end in the air defeating the purpose of the seed planter altogether.
WOW!! That’s AWESOME!! Danny it’s so true necessity is the mother of invention. When you lose the ability to do something the way you always did you work on finding another way. That’s true of anyone with a disability whether it be permanent or temporary. If some part of your body begins to fail to work or becomes broken we quickly learn how to adapt and to feel much better. .
I absolutely love it! So excited to share this video with my very tall husband with back and knee issues. It would also will be a fun “toy” for my grandsons to help to grow their love for the garden. Thank y’all for sharing.
Danny & Wanda guess what my Husband will be making for me this weekend- "Danny's No Bend Seed Planter". That is what I am going to label mine as. What an amazing idea as we get older. Cheers Denise- Australia
I've seen the 'commercial' version of this, it's good that you showed people how to make their own! And I appreciate the way you guys just address those 'Aging' issues when 'Homesteading' topics, we know Farmers did (& do) retire too! Mainly they hoped their kids would keep the farm going but you and I (Baby Boomers) know many of those in the 'Silent Generation' (our parents) LEFT the farm back in the day too! This 'PUSH' to get back to the land is good but we know down the line, it'll change again... if the Lord don't come first, lol!
Awesome tool Danny. Since my accident in 2006 I have had to change everything as far as how I do things. Been using just a pvc pipe to plant with and your right it's hard holding the seed in one hand and getting them in the pipe
That is absolutely awesome! My knees are terrible so I will definitely build one of those! My dad is 79 and gets dizzy if he squats down much too, so this is brilliant for him! Thank you so much for sharing!!
My back thanks you Danny!

Love the smiles on your faces.
What a great invention. Watch all your videos. Love all the nature sounds. Thank you miss Wanda and Danny.
Smart! Have a 60' fenced row for my cucs, now this 68 y/o has to drive tpost down in another section for my beans. Great job you two
Your invention is genius! Wishing you and Miss Wanda a successful growing season.
😄😄 necessity is the mother of invention!! LOVE IT!
You are a lifesaver! I am in so much pain after planting seed I'm down for days! Game changer!
Order some joint juice it has saved me
Yeah but you still got ''er done! That garden's going in somehow! Respect to you and all us elders!
What terry said
Very cool tool Danny! That's definitely a back saver.
Hi, Danny and Wanda! Your new seed planting device is sweet! I'm 65, with a hip replacement gone bad, so this is a divine contraption! I refuse to sit idly, and have a tendency to over do things. This will be a huge help! A million thanks!

Love it ,I was just thinking of something on this order so I could plant my seeds without bending over or crawling on my knees.
Thank you! This will save my back. The older I get, the harder it is to bend over for planting.
That’s so cool. My son has a bad back and is now having trouble holding things. I sent him to watch this.
Thanks Mr Danny and Miss Wanda
That's GENIUS!!!! I smiled watching the whole thing...
Wow! I have got to make one tomorrow before I start planting. Thank you so much for sharing your stand up planter.
Danny is a genius, you can tell he's very smart with everything you do around you home.. 👍
Like me, I got a chair by each outside workstation. I'm disabled. But like to do stuff a little at a time.
@@misst1586 Yep. It works. 👍 People don't get it until they get there.
Necessity is the mother of invention I just love it
I like your show today.😀🙏👣😇
I'd put another 6" pipe straight across from the other at the bottom and a 90° on each end going down lower than the seed pipe and cap them off to keep the seed pipe from touching the ground. It would have better stability, and would also mark where your next seed will go.

I love my Earth way for planting beans and corn. It makes the furrow, plants the seeds, and covers all in one pass.
I have one of these also. With my knee messed up this is easier.
~ Stephanie
Excellent idea! And, 442 Olds had a great idea, too. A heel to keep the PVC out of the soil.
Nice! You could put a little bottom extension or "heel" of some sort away from the exit port so the exit port never hits the soil and so never plugs up with soil .

The beauty of it is its simplicity! 😁 Well done, sir. I built 4' tall raised beds for the sole reason I hate bending over.
This is ingenious! I will definitely be making one. Love Kentucky Wonder, it’s a really good bean.
We've been using a PVC pipe for 4 years now. I have a garden apron for my seeds. I like the measuring pipe & coffee bucket idea.

I truly understand the bending over part and the adjustable spacing idea is great really enjoy your videos
Thank you so much. I'm 62 alone with disability and I'm making this asap. Love you all🙏💗
Love this!! My arthritis makes gardening difficult and I am horrible with spacing when I plant!! 🤭

Love this new garden tool, Danny. Thanks for sharing.
Perfect. I need one.
You can put a second tee before your bottom measuring piece. Tee down and immediately put a cap on. Keeps your pipe from getting clogged. Thanks for sharing this with us!
Wow. I need one of these

Keep up the good work folks, and may the Good Lord keep and bless you both!
Amazing tool you came up with Danny!!! I PVC connectors are on my list when i go to town later today! Loved this video. You are amazing!!
Way to go Danny, Great idea.
PERFECT!!! Going to make one right now! 🙏❤
Danny, THIS is SO ingenious!! I'm older than you so I will be using this when we get on our homestead this summer. I hate to bend over needlessly, lol
This is absolutely brilliant. Going to show this to my daughter who has to have surgery and no bending for 4-6 weeks.
Danny! 👏🏻💪🏼😎♥️. You are a GENIUS!! From one older person to another-THANK YOU 👏🏻👏🏻🙄
I've used a funnel on a pipe for years, but this is amazing! Going to make one as soon as I can empty a tub of coffee! Thank you Danny!
I’ll make sure we have one of these by week’s end! Thank you for sharing this awesome tip! God bless you and Miss Wanda. ♥️
I love this planter. At my age it is not so hard getting on the ground, but getting up is an all new experience. I am going to make one of these.
Danny and Wanda that is the new seedsetter and spacer
Genius just genius well adapted
Danny I love your planter God Bless you for sharing it. God Bless you and Wanda
WOW!! That’s AWESOME!! Danny it’s so true necessity is the mother of invention. When you lose the ability to do something the way you always did you work on finding another way. That’s true of anyone with a disability whether it be permanent or temporary. If some part of your body begins to fail to work or becomes broken we quickly learn how to adapt and to feel much better.
.
Made one similar to that so our friend in a wheelchair could roll down the edge of our garden and help plant. She lover to garden.
Awesome! I’m going to make one for myself! Great idea! Thank you Danny!👍😊🙏
Love this idea! What a huge help for us older folks! Thanks!
I absolutely love it! So excited to share this video with my very tall husband with back and knee issues. It would also will be a fun “toy” for my grandsons to help to grow their love for the garden. Thank y’all for sharing.
Thank you for your videos. You guys are inspirational.
This is an AWESOME tool. Even I can make one. Thanks Danny and Wanda
Danny could be an inventor on anything
Very clever💡
You all are so cute, the way you finish each other's sentences. This is a great idea. I am definitely going to try it out!
