I have a 2017 XF and pulling that supercharger pulley was a nightmare without a 7 ton pulley puller. thanks for the video its been very helpful! I failed the first supercharger pulley install but now, second time around I got this thanks again!!!
Thank you for the video. it was very informative. What kind of hp can I expect from just your upper pulley on an 11 XJL Supersport? It's already tuned and has a lower pulley.
The upper pulley will add right around 1.5 psi of boost. Whoever tuned the vehicle will need to adjust the tuning to allow for the additional boost, so the amount of power added will vary based on who is tuning it and how they set it up.
When you place the pulley on the snout with the tool, are you pushing it as far back as it can go on the snout? There is no chance of you pushing it too far back and it not having enough space to freely move, right?
Hi I have a rover 3.0 Im going to attempt the swap. I just ordered the hot plate on amazon But question The new pulley needs to be at what temperature? I have a digital heat gun to read Thanks
Hi Question I have a rover L405 3.0 supercharged Once the original pullybus removed dobI have to mill down the snot end v4 heating up the new pulley on? Or? For the 3.0 It's just a heat up and slide on the water cool? Just wondering bc I read the 5.0 Has to be shaved /milled down Thanks alot
@VelocityAP oh ok I got cha sorry I thought you had said the 58 could go on the 5.0L but the snout would need to be shaved down for clearance. I must have heard wrong
@VelocityAP I already have a crank pulley and am looking into getting the upper pulley and a new tune for that set up. Is there any areas that would require attention to help accommodate for that extra power? Also would a transmission tune be something to consider?
Yes, you will need a tune. There's some very marginal low end you might pick up, but if you don't change the ECU tune it will just vent any excess boost pressure through the bypass valve.
Nice to put a face to the famous Chris @ VAP

Awesome video! Been looking into installing the upper and lower pulley on my 3.0 xf and getting the remap!
Great info.
Thank you for this video, Chris! I was looking for this exact tutorial so perfect timing.
No videos about the xe on e85?
Great video! Thank you for posting.
Is there a preference heat vs press fit? pros vs cons?
I have a 2022 F-pace SVR with tune stage 1 , I would like to put the upper pulley. I live in north Italy, there is a dealer near in italy?
My shop couldn't get the old pulley off without destroying it 🙁

Have you noticed any difference in belt wear or shorter belt change intervals with the griptec ?
Not compared to our pre-griptec options, but we do recommend more regular replacement than unmodified vehicles.
@ like every 3 years or 50k miles ? Something along those lines
@@jacobtravis812 We generally change them annually, or close to that, due to the increased load put through the belt, and tensioner assembly.

Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated

Nevermind I talked to Griptec the stopper in the tool allows it to seat flush

Hi
Question
I have a rover L405 3.0 supercharged

Thanks alot
Our 3.0L and 5.0L pulleys do not require any machining to the snout, if they are being fitted to their respective superchargers.
So that means you don't need to mill the supercharger on the 5L with the 62mm?
Correct.
Great Video Chris!
Not sure if I just missed this but dose the supercharger have to come off to do this job? Thanks
No, the supercharger does not need to be removed
On the 5.0L will you get more power from the 58 or the 62?
62 is the max we support on the 5.0L, but it can be combined with a crank pulley for +5psi of boost and 660BHP, 630ft/lbs
@VelocityAP oh ok I got cha sorry I thought you had said the 58 could go on the 5.0L but the snout would need to be shaved down for clearance. I must have heard wrong

@VelocityAP well at least I now know where I won't be buying any of my upgrades from so thank you for that
TH-cam comments is not the ideal place for tech support. Phone or email is best.
Do i need a tune if i switch my V8 5.0 supercharger pulley to 62mm, like will get any power if NOT tuned ?
Yes, you will need a tune. There's some very marginal low end you might pick up, but if you don't change the ECU tune it will just vent any excess boost pressure through the bypass valve.
