“Morning Shed”. I use a silk bonnet to protect my hair but that’s it. It must be exhausting to think you need all these additional, disposable items over your face when you sleep, trying to stop the unstoppable march of time 😂
@@Mmm.2481 I tried the heatless curls things once, and sleeping was a terrible experience! I could NOT imagine putting my appearance over my sleep quality.
@@luckycharm5589 i actually don’t follow any influencer, funny how people flow them and really buy things, yeah sometimes I fall for buy8gn stuff but I do a lot of research and click on a lot of reviews but I tend to focus more on the real people commenting, I only follow lifestyle girls, travelers, how to dress better etc but products reviews influencers not really, I mostly watch my favorite tv shows or movies recaps and commentaries about them.
Just my opinion, but I feel like most of the things that have the biggest impact on our skin are free or low-cost: staying hydrated, not smoking, healthy diet, and limiting sun exposure. Beyond that, I feel like a good drugstore cleanser/moisturizer combo will do just fine.
Yes to all is that and also exfoliating at home a few times a week also does wonders for the skin on top of all the other suggestions!! Which you don’t need a fancy product to do exfoliating either.
1. I scroll on when the clicking with the nails starts 2. I move on when “asmr” package opening starts, it sends shivers down my spine! 3. “Obsessed”: moving on! 4. The upward inflection on the end of every sentence sounds like thousands of edit cuts to me, after a few I’m done. This “influencer” stuff is nutty
Hi ! I agree with you… In addition , these videos are so noisy with the nails clicking thing and the way they put the products in containers…. It irritates me soooo much! Thank you for this video 🌸
"Sends shivers down my spine" My sibling in Arceus, that's the ASMR. That's the tingles. LMFAO You're experiencing something quite a few people would kill for and going "eew" LMAOOOOOOOO
Just a friendly reminder that self care does not equate to buying stuff!! Self care is going on a walk, reading a book, doing a hobby you enjoy, etc. Never feel like you need these expensive products to properly take care of yourself because you don’t
My self-care weekends (almost 90% of the times) is taking a long nice bath (without the bath bombs and all that thing). After that, eating my favorite food while being a couch potato and watching random stuff I like. Best 3-4 hrs spent ever.
It's such a privilege to age and we should really stop pretending life ends at 30 or so. My life is so much nicer at 35 than in my early 20s. Also I promise, hydration, sunscreen and a good cleaner and moisturiser goes a loooong way.
This is something I have been struggling with! Not so much the appearance aspect of aging, but being behind at 28. I appreciate your comment and do hope my life is nicer by 35!
@susannahfriesenofficial I had a crippling anxiety disorder in my 20s and missed out on a lot of things peers did, so I totally get the "behind" feeling. Don't forget that you are at your point in life for a reason and everyone is on an individual road. Authentic happiness is the goal, not what others perceive or think of you ❤
@@CocoLicious Aw I'm sorry! I struggle with chronic migraines-have since I was a teenager, so I missed out on alot of experiences too. I have never even been to a real party or anything, not that I care too lol. I also have anxiety (my doc prescribed meds but I'm hesitant to take them due to the side effects). It's not crippling, but it does impact my life. Thank you for this💛
As long as your health holds out, there are better years ahead when you are 35, especially for women. My mom always told me to enjoy being young, that time would go by fast - and she was right. As for physical aging, the biggest factor in how that will go for you is genetics. I have a friend who lived clean, didn’t smoke, ate healthy, sat by the pool in long sleeves and hats and SPF 75 sunblock and smugly lectured me while I cooked myself in baby oil. She has way more wrinkles and signs of aging than I do today. Look around at the other women in your family - mom, aunts, grandmother - if they stayed looking young as they aged, then you likely will too. I guess my advice for younger people is to enjoy NOW. Never wish time away, or hope things will be better when you are this age or that age. Take care of yourself, limit sugar and processed food, find work you love, avoid stress. Oh - and learn about money and finances and invest/save so you don’t have to work until you are 90. That’s all I have. Good luck!
I'm an esthetician and I hate what tiktok has done to skincare. My nightly routine is at the MOST 5 steps, but most nights it's just 3. But I have clients coming in with a laundry list of 10+ products they're putting on their faces every night, wondering why they have more breakouts and congestion. I had a client recently tell me she was using a chemical peel EVERY NIGHT but getting more acne. When I told her to use it less frequently (because a nightly peel is absolutely destroying her skin barrier) she asked me to recommend a "luxury brand" alternative that she could use daily. It's like it's not even about the skin at that point, its about the consumption 😭
@nataliao8868 most nights it's just cleanse in the shower, toner and moisturizer. If I'm feeling like pampering myself I'll cleanse, exfoliate, tone, use a face mask or a serum, and moisturize. But that's maybe once a week as a lil treat, not my regular routine.
I really hope younger people are watching this and taking it into consideration. Influencers are seriously out of control and out of touch with reality. Kids deserve better people to admire. But ultimately, Mom and Dad should be the REAL influencers.
Yes, Mom and Dad should be! Younger people are deeeep into the brainrot of social media. Its sad. The one exception is my brother who is 15, and he is the only teenager I know/I've seen that has his head on straight and thinks these things are dumb.
Instead of constantly blaming the influencers, we could/should ask ourselves, what is wrong with our (Western) society that apparently young people feel the need to emulate total strangers. Mom and dad should, indeed, set an example. It appears there is some real meaning/purpose lacking in their lives.
Im glade u made this vid cuz i watch thr make uo tutorials ans i cant afford any of the stuff they permote and i think it cuz they make a percentage ir permoting to get conission i hooe u do more if these vids
She must have a very small, limited life. It made me feel sorry for her. I mean geez, girl, get a hobby, preferably one that doesn't need to be videoed. And those plastic charms are hideous.
And why is her she referring to a water cup as “she” as if it is her best friend. Those things leak like crazy. My daughter-in-law got me one and I came home washed it after I finally pried the gasket out of it and it sits there until the next time I go visit because I hate that thing. Gaskets are impossible to get out, they don’t sell replacement gaskets so you have to buy a new cup so that your water bottle will not leak quite as much. And who the hell puts a pom-pom on a water bottle. You know that thing gonna get wet. People are crazy
33:46 that "NO" is the best moment of this video and LOVED you said it because I have seen other videos of people about overconsumption and they are like "well each of their own"...well NO, we all live on the same planet!!!
I needed this video so bad. As someone who lives paycheck to paycheck it’s so hard to watch these and think there’s something wrong with ME! It’s hard to tear your mind away from that mindset
@@susannahfriesenofficialSerum is the step before moisturizing for mature skin. It's the treatment step. Then moisturizer and you're done. If you're young, cleanse, tone, moisturize, sunblock, that's it. And some sunblocks can act as a moisturizer so you can skip that step.❤
the thing that grinds my gears is this notion i see that “people in Europe don’t drink water” and i’m fully convinced it’s because we don’t carry around these ridiculous stanley bottles! each time i see this it makes me question everything… anyway, thank you for your video so much, i think it’s very important we think before we buy :)
@@JustMeChrissLee I mean it’s not like ppl in Europe don’t carry water bottles when they go out, we do (I always do it) but it’s hilarious how Stanley cups look when someone’s carrying them somewhere. They are literally too big to be comfortable to carry around. I think the point of water bottle is to have a nice amount of liquid on you when you need it and when you don’t need it you simply put it in your bag. And how are you supposed to do that with Stanley?? They are literally leaking
@oppai8931 Exactly! I cannot imagine carrying a Stanley around all the time, purely because I want to use my hands! If my water bottle cannot be put in my bag, why do I own it?
This is SUCH a good video to be putting out this time of year. My TH-cam home page has been showing a bunch of “ new year new you” videos with a lot of overconsumption, so having the reminder of “ no this isn’t normal” Is really nice to see, especially when it’s easy to get jealous over these types of things
As a licensed Aesthetician and educator having good skincare is beneficial but you really only need ONE good cleanser, exfoliator, moisturizer and spf along with healthy eating and fitness habits. Also no product is a one size fits all, we all have different skin types.
@ yes of course they are both great products depending how you use them. Tretinoin keeps your skin in constant cellular turnover and is great for acne (basically an advanced exfoliator) when using avoid other active ingredients like (aha, bha, glycolic, retinols, etc) also keeping your skin hydrated and wearing spf otherwise you can really strip or damage your skin barrier. Vit C is really great for a natural brightening of the skin and pairs really well with spf to help fight off free radicals which are basically molecules that lead to damaging of the skin (aging 😢)
I also dont understand why we normalized not judging wrong behaviors. Too much tolerance caused all these. Some things should be judged so that people avoid.
She has a lash lift. Spotted that immediately because mine look similar after a lift and looked her up and she has TikToks on it. Still makes it funny that she claimed not to have make up on. Like technically it's true but the lashes still don't look like that naturally.
I’d bet money she’s wearing eyeliner and lipstick too. Notice how she’s very careful not to touch her eyes or lips when she pats the products on her cheeks.
You’re so right. Destroying the environment for money is insane. I pray these people stop the over consumption. I used to be guilty of it till I realized I’m happy with my life. I run out of things i replace it, I break it I replace it , otherwise I don’t need any more random stuff.
If our ancient ancestors were alive today I swear they would think we're stupid. I don't understand why people care so much about a water bottle... Honestly, why?! Why do we waste time on meaningless and consumable things?
Because humans are designed and desperately need connection but society and pur lives are devoid of it. So people try to fill that space with anything.
Because even a $45 water bottle is cheaper and more affordable than property or financial stability; and you even get options for colours. It’s the same reason people buy coffee every morning before work; the daily latte is a little treat in an otherwise hopeless effort to get some form of stability in their life, and still infinitely more affordable in the average budget than a house. Sometimes, you do kinda just have to recognise the uphill battle is more of a cliffface and take the smaller luxuries instead.
The amount of accessories for the Stanley Cups make my purse hurt! 😂😂😂😂😂😂 we all had our trends to collect and to belong....but is it just me or these trends are getting more expensive?😮
You can bet the people using these products and buying other things are either in debt way over their eyeballs ar they steal all this stuff and get caught shoplifting!!!
I appreciate you bringing us back to earth that $46 is a lot of money for a product. People are going into debt and destroying the planet in the process because of the pressure influencers like this make them feel. Influencing people to value their belongings, employ a less consumerist mindset and take care of them is a much better message ❤
I’ve seen people doing 7-12 step showering routine… “teaching” how to REALLY shower if…. They never learned how to shower? Like what the hell… who doesn’t know how to shower? It’s a crazy statement to make in order to sell people products they don’t need. I can’t imagine how stinky those people are after all those fragrances. Not to mention how damaging that can be.
I do agree with you! Overconsumption is a HUGE problem in my generation (e.g. shein hauls, they're just... next level evil). And if promoting this is your job... i don't know, I wouldn't be able to sleep well doing so.
i used to work at ulta, let me tell you. NO product on the prestige side is worth it. there is ALWAYS a cheaper alternative, most of the time i like the cheap ones more. even makeup, not just skincare, no single product is worth over $30 on its own im sorry. not in the real world anyways. plus these influencers never buy the stuff, its always sent to them or they are paid for the review. they have ZERO stakes in it
You’re totally right. I work at a health food store, specifically supplements and personal care, and there is always a cheaper alternative. We are on the more expensive side as well.
I'm not only very poor but naturally thrifty anyway and totally agree- my favorite mascara in fact is literally at dollar tree and I've used all sorts of middling and higher end ones over the decades but I love that cheap one so so much lol
Yes, the tapping is so triggering!!! I just got through complaining to my husband about this girl tapping so much in the video and then you mention how it makes you feral inside. Lol
@@joannasliwa8147 I have nails too but mine are grown out to the shape and length I have them and are very healthy underneath! It depends on the tech. Mine just happens to be my sis-in-law and I get the family discount 😜
I feel like it’s showing off ooh look I have my nails done, plus it’s fashionable. I like it a little in some restocking videos but this was constant! And while she was talking.
As a person with adhd, my water bottle is very important to me 😂. I don’t have a Stanley and would never buy one but i was very excited when I bought my Owala. And I think having 2 water bottles when you use them every day is good bc otherwise mine would never get washed 😅. And I can also understand the silicon sleeve, it doesn’t bother me too much but when I am overstimulated the noise of a water bottle hitting another surface is bad. I think there is a big difference between a person buying a second one after using their water bottle for a year and the influencers with entire cupboards full of Stanleys. Sometimes it’s the little things that bring us joy and that is beautiful. What bothers me is people who clearly don’t get excited about their restocks bc it’s something they do all of the time. Knowing that most of that shit will go in the trash or even if they use it will create a crazy amount of waste makes me super mad..
It actually amazes me as a gen-x that young people blame *us* for destroying the climate and environment. I grew up using jute bags instead of plastic, seperating waste, pressing the cup-stop-button on the coffee vending machine at the university to use my own cup, using torn old towels to clean the house, mending things... Never stopped doing all those things, and a lot of persons my age I know still do the same. I sincerely hope that many young people watch this video!
Yes! I grew up with a mom who recycled religiously, including re-using clamshell bakery boxes, etc. We've all had a hand in the destruction of the environment and/unless we ALL (or at least significantly more of us) cease putting convenience over everything else, it's not getting better.
You can tell you're not at all educated on climate change. Don't pretend to have a clue what you're talking about just to make you feel good about yourself
The Stanley clicky clacky makes me cringe, even more when combined with the sweater paw. Same with the useless restocking with individually packaged snack-crap of individual plastic containers. But I try to ignore, and if I see them rolling their faces with diamond rollers and snail-slime I try not to fall for ragebait.
No kidding. As a boomer, my mom, who is part of the Silent Generation, has always saved plastic bags, and I learned to do the same, and reuse or redonate to flea market dealers, or scratch and dent stores, so they could be used again, along with saving every bit of paper to recycle, etc. People love to generalize and criticize. It is easy to do and takes no thought. I usually just ignore the younger set when they go on and on at how bad and wasteful we older people are/were as they hold their cups of coffee or energy drinks. Each group has its problems.
As a European the biggest giveaway of American tourists are the giant reusable water bottles they carry literally everywhere. Are you going on a 60 day hike?
I promise you, there is a large portion of us who don’t bring those around. 😂 when I was in Europe I did NOT have that stuff with me 😂 I’m trying to fit in lol
Yessss the tapping I'm sooooo glad you pointed that out. It's so irritating I don't know if they are trying to get us to buy the product or look at their manicures 😅
Same. It’s like having somebody chewing loudly right next to my ear while poking me. I know some people get the brain tingles from ASMR, but it just raises my hackles. 😅
Yesss, its perfect for asmr if you are an asmr person.. however in this kind of skincare video its very very annoying. It screams LOOK AT ME BEING PERFECT Btw I also hate the hand moves like the kind of excessieve pointing to a product or waving.
Omg.. I have a coworker that does the tapping thing with her nails every time she passes my desk. She is also a huge tik tok viewer... So is she influenced? I think yes. 😂
I CANNOT handle the fact that the one person put miniature Tajin (A SPICE MIX) in her guest bathroom. Like yes, Tajin is a super yummy topping for so many foods, but WHY in God's name do you put minis in a bathroom 💀💀💀💀💀💀
I manage an Airbnb and trust me…. We DON’T stock our bathrooms like this. There’s shampoo, conditioner and soap. That’s it! lol I have a box of travel toothbrush sets for my daughters friends that are always staying over last minute lol
I do not understand how she knows what benefits each is giving her. She's using so many products; how can she detect which product is making her skin smooth, and which one is making it glow or whatever? How can she be sure they are all doing enough to justify their cost?
short answer: she can't. unfortunately the most likely scenario is that she is just wasting her money. Clearly they don't do too much is she still has to get botox. (which theres nothing wrong with if it's a little), but don't try and sell people a mass array of skincare products with this falsified testimony.
My sister's skin doctor said most of us are overgroomed and the skin breaks out and then people think they need even more products. He prescribed one leave in cleanser the pharmacist had to Mix for her and said she couldn't use anything else for two months. After two weeks her neurodermitis was gone, her pimples were gone, her dry spots were gone. They only make appearences in Times of great Stress now and never so bad as before.
No offence but your grandchildren (if you have any) will be exactly the same as this - all young kids are now growing up with this as their 'normal' sadly.
Another TH-camr (Hannah Alonzo) covered Stanley Cups and the bullying and pressure that it creates for kids to buy it or being put down for not having it. We should not be promoting something like this! It creates such a toxic environment! Skincare routines are getting ridiculous in amount that those influencers are using! I do not like make up for that exact reason, it makes my skin feel greasy so I don’t put on make up unless I’m going to a function or a dinner party with my family. On a day-to-day basis, I put on lip balm and recently started using lip gloss. Skincare routines are ridiculous!
Ah I love her! I haven’t watched that video of hers yet! I agree, we shouldn’t be promoting this. That makes me sad to hear that children are being bullied for not having a certain water bottle… pathetic. I only wear foundation/more makeup for filming, otherwise when I go to work or around the house, I will maybe put on some concealer and curl my lashes, and lip balm! As we speak I haven’t even washed my face yet 😂 living in a house with 5 people with 1 bathroom doesn’t allow for a 30 minute skin care routine 😆 One of my goals for this year is to not wear as much makeup while filming!
@@susannahfriesenofficial my friend has an 11 year old and she asked for a Stanley Cup and a Lululemon belt bag for her birthday. The bullying is horrible when these kids do not have the expensive items, especially here in Southern California.
24:38 heres the only part i disagree with: "as adults we have more important things in our life we care about." Like yeah, this girl's love for her water bottle is a little excessive, but it makes her happy? At least she shows personality in her videos and isn't just a faceless creator making ads for 10 different companies? At least she has 2 stanleys, not 20 to match her different outfits, PLUS she got one for free? The overconsumption is still bad here, but on the stanley craziness scale, I rate this a low problem compared to those faceless food tray stanley "restock" videos
Her squeezing out all the sunscreen makes me wanna scream! Lol that brand is expensive, that travel size is almost $15 and she just wasted at least 2-3 uses. 😵💫 FERAL
*hisses and throws myself dramatically against my bookshelves* 😂 But for real, as much as I am an avid reader and a lover of all things library, used bookstore, cosy reading nook and bookcore, when I was doing one of my bi-annual purges years ago I realized that I can be all of those things without owning a library's worth of physical books. As my friend Joyce says, unless the book is sentimental or has really special value to me "I'll let the library hold it and go visit it when it gets lonely.". I've been practicing conscious consumption for a few years now and that has increased my appreciation and love for the books that I own and treasure even more than before. 💛
I was with this video til she came at me with the over consumption of books , yes I'm a book dragon I always have been but you can be a book dragon and not spend money like I do library books and library ebooks, free eBooks and epub reads kindle books audiobook TH-cam audiobook and the free reading goes on. The aesthetic of booktoc bookstagram etc is dreamy but realistically who can afford that. I mean skincare is also a passion but same goes for that who can afford expensive crap that most often then not breaks a sensitive sister out 😢
@@charlottegeorge7997 im a book dragon too! love books! I do kindle mostly and pay for kindle unlimited, and I read alot during the month on there! saves me money long term.
Also I found out that I can digitally download books for free from the Library! I am a voracious reader and read fast so I was spending so much money on Nook and Kindle. And I have boxes and boxes and boxes of books that I finally donated to a second hand bookstore.
I am with CharlotteGeorge- definitely a book dragon. But that's MY THING. My husband and I now have an actual library, and it is a great joy to our lives. I think it is important to keep in mind that if you are using the things, enjoying the things, can afford the things(and space), it is not over-consumption, it is savouring your life. But that necessitates knowing what YOUR THING is. We are story and crafts people, so we go hog-wild with those items. We do not have sports equipment, or fancy cars, or skincare, or fine furnishings, or so on and so forth. These influencers videos(which I confess, I usually only see when someone is critiquing them, so my perception may not be accurate) seem to imply that your whole life needs to be this way: always chic, always on trend, always having the top and most of everything. Blech!
I saw a video where someone put salad and pasta (with red sauce!) in their Stanley food tray. You cannot tell me that eating your full dinner out of that tray is easier than eating it off a plate!
I agree with pretty much every concern you have risen. What boils me the most is wasting a ton of product just for a video. I always cringe really hard when I see that. It’s just washing money down the drain.
completely agree. influencers are freelance salespeople. I don't find what they do important and I'm not gonna feel bad for them if they get hate for the way they choose to sell, which is often in a manipulative way. btw if anyone has been keeping up with the honey "scam"-- I literally could not be happier about influencers accidentally screwing themselves by taking a sponsorship without thinking critically about how they make money. they probably thought that the company would be screwing their viewers, not them
Hi, your channel was sent by God in my life. I have been extremely affected by this way of consuming, here in Brazil, being an influencer is the most common thing. We really have many and they convince us that we need so many things. When in fact, we already have more than we need! The enemy even uses this to make us empty and distract us from what really matters. Thank you Susy, the videos have been healing for me! Keep going! Hugs from Brazil ❤️🚀
I don't follow Mahatma Ghandi but he had a wise saying, 'Live simply so that others may simply live." I may have the means to follow these trends, but as a Christian, I have to steward that money appropriately. I have found that when I defer gratification and focus on the needs of others, my needs and even some of my wants are provided without pulling out my wallet. He is my Provider. Most of the high end items I have were either given to me brand new or were won in an office party. (I hold the record for winning 3 TV sets, each one bigger than the last one. I kept the first one). Life is more important than things.
as a German who takes the bus or bike to go everywhere i‘m also always floored by this obsession with a water cup that leaks? i’m not gonna carry this bottle in my hand everywhere i go ? is this less impractical in the US because most people there have cars?
I agree with EVERYTHING you've said in this video!! I'm so glad you posted this because there's a lot of people that don't understand or noticed the overconsumption and waste. Oh and yes I've ALWAYS disliked the tapping sounds!! And spraying/squeezing the product and wasting it. Influencers causes so many people to compare and feel like they're lacking those things or "behind" in life. It's hard for people to feel grateful for what they already have in their lives when people are so exposed to the never ending content of influencers on social media. I recently watched a skincare regimen from a board certified dermatologist and she stated exactly what you mentioned, all we need is a cleanser, moisturizer, and sun screen. I saw so many influencers with like 5+ items in their routine and I thought I needed all of those things. I'm glad I listened to a dermatologist than an influencer. Also, local drugstore skincare products are just fine. No need to spend hundreds of dollars on skincare products.
When they put all the charms on the Stanley, how do they wash them thoroughly? That would get on my nerves immediately. I don’t even put stickers on my water bottles for this reason.
I have always wondered why on all those "restock" videos they always fill an empty box, there are never any products left from the last time they "restocked". Apparently, they always run out of all products at the same time
I wonder if the tapping (or at least this is how I interpret it, and why it makes me upset) is like people snapping to get your attention. Like "Focus here! This is important! You see this product? It's important!"
I cannot tell you how much I agree with you… I have always felt that these influences make us feel hopeless about our own lifestyles and make us overspend on absolutely unnecessary and “useless” things which ultimately cause more stress and anxiety as it doubles our cleaning and organizing times and then end up in trash.. with that goes our hard earned money.. thank you from the bottom of my heart for posting these videos! We need more such content to help people realize how we are over-consuming and how unhealthy it is :)
Oh my you’re face when watching “pack my overnight Stanley with me” 😂😂😂 hilarious and reflects my attitude 100000% I really don’t mind if people really like to do all of those things if it makes them happy but overall it’s such an over consumption 😢
Now, I don't mind people collecting things like Stanley cups. If that's what makes you happy, then you do you! People have been collecting things like mugs and plates for years. What I don't like is people doing it *just* because it's trendy, because as soon as the trend dies down and the next new thing comes along, those Stanley cups will most likely end up in landfill. Do it because it makes you happy, not because it's trendy and don't be wasteful when doing it.
I've heard people critique the overconsumption with Stanley cups so many times, but your video is the first time that I've heard that they leak 🤯. Truly amazing. Edit: Also, I like your delicately savage commentary style 🤣
I have a Stanley and the only time that mine leaked was when I accidentally knocked it on its side, which is understandable. 😳 my cup has never leaked.
It's also that EVERYTHING they use has a waste component. Sheet masks? Waste. Face wipes? Waste. Disposable toothbrush? Waste. One-time use face towels? Waste. There is so much less trash in any reasonable version of a skincare routine
I am really happy I found this video. I also appreciated the statement “when you are an adult you don’t have time to care about these things”. Its true! ‘Ain’t nobody have time for that!’😅
I developed a shopping addiction from following way-too-many-influencers while also experiencing severe loneliness. I also have body dysmorphia, which pre-dates the addiction & was pre-existing. I ended up taking out loans & got into bad debt. I honestly think social media is the most harmful thing to young women's mental health nowadays. And it's a lot more dangerous than we think
I'm sorry you're experiencing all of this. I haven't gotten into debt, but I did notice a correlation between my screen time and spending habits. I think sometimes we try to fill gaps in our lives by trying to emulate people we see as "having it all together"
This is so eye opening! I don't normally watch these videos, so actually seeing the restocks is wild! Thanks for spreading the word, I usually Thrift all my clothes because there's so much waste.
I 65 and still very oily. I use an inexpensive cleanser and an eye cream. People say I look 45-50. So I’m good. I have one Stanley that I got before they went viral. The only extra item I purchased is the covers for the straw end. My cup is black like my soul and it’s genderless.
I’m also a book lover and luckily I love my local library. I realized early on that I can’t love and keep all that I buy. As much as pre-ordering helps authors, esp debuts, it’s simply not worth it to take up space if you didn’t like the book. And that’s life! Not every book is perfectly personally a favorite. At least with libraries, I can give it back and someone else can take it out and love it without my own time and labor used up. Thankfully, little free libraries are becoming more popular now 👍💕
My daughter keep asking me to get Stanley and I just keep saying it's just water bottle and she said but everyone at school have it. This "influencers" make big impact on children and it's must stop
35:30 While the young lady was out buying shoes, pants, tops and hoodies, it's a shame she didn't buy a few adjectives. The only one she seems to know is "cute".
I remember when I was still in high school (about a year ago) I was talking to some new friends and they started talking about skin care routines and were talking about almost 1,000 different steps and I was just thinking “damn all I do is wash my face and put some good lotion and call it a day wtf” and when they asked me I told them exactly that and they immediately told me that I was wrong and that there should be at LEAST 5-7 steps in my skin care routine. I almost caved in and that same night I got a video from a dermatologist saying that all you really need is a good cleanser and sunscreen. Guys just because other people around you has been influenced, does not mean you have to be as well.
I’m absolutely LOVING these videos lately that you’ve been putting out!!! The “normalcy” they’re claiming is NOT NORMAL and I completely appreciate you doing these! All power to those who can, but for those who can’t and making it seem “normal” is so important to understand that it’s just the opposite for our mental health. Xo
I worked for Estée Lauder 14 years ago. The Night Repair serum is $79-$159 depending on size. It IS lovely, but it is expensive and largely not necessary. I would add a couple of things to the cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen routine and that is an exfoliating cream and an eye cream. The exfoliating cream needs to be gentle and you only use it twice per week. You can make a really good sugar or coffee scrub for pennies per use. Eye cream is useful for wrinkles or bags/puffy eyes. The masks and other stuff are not for daily use. Those are pamper products-once or twice a month. I transfer some of my pantry goods into canisters and containers. It doesn’t take a lot of time. The big one is chips or crackers especially when they come in bags. Bags are a pain to store in the pantry. The other is baking stock goods.
Im sick and tired of these "influencers". The nail tapping on every single product is like nails on chalkboard. All the do is promote consumerism and more waste, not doing anything meaningful to the world.
I am from germany watching your video and feeling happy cause I can't stand it anymore. I can't stand more stanley cups, Dubai chocolate, the 488th skincare product .... This is so insane. I completely share your thoughts and I'm glad that not everyone is already brainwashed online :)
Girl, I just love your content! It's soo necessary this days when, because of the 'influencers influence", we are told we're supposed to have everything in a big amount
As for the first girl I have to say right now: the reason her skin is so beautiful and smooth is from the the Tretinoin. That’s a prescription acne cream you can only get from derms. It’s quite similar to commercially available Differin but in a cream form so it’s less harsh. Also, if you’re using Tretinoin, that is ALL the exfoliating you need, trust me.
@ Absolutely. Try telling that to an insurance company though! I remember when differin came out my insurance company was trying so hard not to fill my Tretinoin. And I basically had to get a prior auth so the insurance would cover it and not make me get otc differin. So glad my acne days are behind me. 😵💫😵💫 but having had cystic acne, I tell everyone to consult a dermatologist if they can, rather than looking for the miracle skin care routine or ingredient.
@@nataliam7029 that’s great! It’s an awesome skincare ingredient, as long as you’re mindful of how sensitive it can make your skin! I remember when I used it daily I had to threading my eyebrows because the hot wax would burn my skin lol.
In defense of taking the stanley everywhere- I do take my water bottle everywhere with me, no matter what I'm doing in the day, you bet my massive water bottle is coming with me.
Thank you for talking about this. It’s beginning to be difficult to know what’s normal anymore. In addition to falling prey to over consumption myself on occasion, I also feel so much of my time is taken up with social media which has become one big hidden ad. Between texts/emails/social media inboxes I feel like so much of my day is wasted and like so many I’m struggling to stop.
Ladies sitting at home watching QVC used to be a sign of losing touch and getting old. But now the exact same thing is happening on social media and seen as trendy.
I am 37 and look early twenties still… I use a cleanser and sunscreen only and my secret is sleep and clean eating. I can’t help but think adding so many things to your face will disregulate your body’s natural oil production.
😂 I am sure you look good, but the trick of looking early 20 when you are 37, is basically thinking you look that way. Those around you Can tell, love.
@@MrsUnderwriter lol Maybe, it’s just a reoccurring comment I get all the time and I don’t think I look 37. That said, looking my age would be a privilege too. Our health and feeling good is what matters, that is what makes someone look beautiful ❤️
@@21cormorantsyes, genetics are a huge part of it! I regularly get comments that people think I look a lot younger than I am, and they always ask what my skincare routine is…my answer is genetics and spf!
I think people really gravitate towards Stanley’s because they want to feel associated to the image of people who typically use them. Stanley’s are co-opted by the clean, well to do, “healthy,” skinny, and it girl type of aesthetic/women and people who struggle with identity and are easily influenced by trends gravitate towards the Stanley because it gives them the false sense of being apart of those aesthetics and those groups of women IMO.
Yep! And then women’s side of social media started buying them and raving about them and Stanley slowly transitioned their marketing towards women and young girls because they were more likely to talk about them, encourage others to purchase them, and buy multiples
As someone who used to have bad skin, the skincare routines are crazy to me. You can over-do it! Turns out, all I needed was a decent cleanser and moisturiser and my skin has never looked better.
When it comes to product videos that try to do ASMR for appeal/ get views/ more products bought, I have a rule of thumb: if the ASMR is unwarranted, then it's bad ASMR. If you aren't actively searching for these videos FOR the crinkles and gushy sounds, then that's where the misophonia kicks in, and that's where the yucky feeling comes into play. So many creators and shillers (and lately ads) think the taps and crinkles make us drawn to the product, but literally nobody asked for it. Nobody is watching your ad for that purpose (maybe a small, small portion, but hey, more power to them).
Your channel is fantastic as it helps us reconnect with the real world! Social media influencers are essentially paid to sway your opinion, usually through sponsored collaborations to promote their merchandise. Oh, the complicated feelings i have towards social media! One moment we're browsing, the next we're taking a week-long break!!😂 Fear of Missing Out is definitely a real phenomenon!!!
I 100% agree what you are saying about influencers as a whole. They have destroyed a generation of young women by convincing them they can’t do life without watching TH-cam/TikTok. Life was so much better without these self absorbed women telling us how to live life. They’re fake and superficial.
I appreciate this so much! I have been trying to “fix” my skin for the past few years. I used many different products with no avail. I went to a dermatologist and turns out I have a scalp problem that affects my skin. After fixing that my skin is slowly healing. AND my dermatologist said that I have oily skin. I asked him what kind of moisturizer I should use and he said you don’t need any, you already have oily skin but if you want to, you can use something oil free. The awakening I had! I now only use cleanser that my doctor gave me and sunscreen if I am going out. That’s it!
What is one thing that stood out to you in this video that makes YOU feral?🤣
“Morning Shed”. I use a silk bonnet to protect my hair but that’s it. It must be exhausting to think you need all these additional, disposable items over your face when you sleep, trying to stop the unstoppable march of time 😂

Just my opinion, but I feel like most of the things that have the biggest impact on our skin are free or low-cost: staying hydrated, not smoking, healthy diet, and limiting sun exposure. Beyond that, I feel like a good drugstore cleanser/moisturizer combo will do just fine.
Totally agree!
Not drinking alcohol too! That in itself will do so much more than creams and serums
Yes to all is that and also exfoliating at home a few times a week also does wonders for the skin on top of all the other suggestions!! Which you don’t need a fancy product to do exfoliating either.
I agree! And don’t need all the layers of makeup either- all it does is clog pores. 😊
Very true. In my opinion, the less products you put on your face, the better.

So true. I'm 35 now and only now do I feel like I am really getting into my own skin and thoughts.
5 steps?🙄🫣What do you do?🥴
@nataliao8868 most nights it's just cleanse in the shower, toner and moisturizer. If I'm feeling like pampering myself I'll cleanse, exfoliate, tone, use a face mask or a serum, and moisturize. But that's maybe once a week as a lil treat, not my regular routine.
@ do you still believe that a toner is still needed … unnecessary step.. purely marketing at this point 🫤
I had no idea that Stanley cup was a travel mug. 😂 I thought people were going mental for professional ice hockey. 😂
I can tell those influencers why their skin is lovely. It's not the skincare; it's because they are young. 😅

Ah yes as if acne was an elderly thing 🙄
@XOXO-eo5vu I mea, it can be. Anyone can get acne. I still do and I’m 42…
This. I had perfect, glowing, glass like skin when I was in my 20s and I did absolutely NOTHING for it. I didn't even wash my face regularly.
13 year old here, and I can confirm she is someone I admire!
Ahhhh the nails again on items. It's frustrating and annoying. A cup changed your life? I don't think so.

As a licensed Aesthetician and educator having good skincare is beneficial but you really only need ONE good cleanser, exfoliator, moisturizer and spf along with healthy eating and fitness habits. Also no product is a one size fits all, we all have different skin types.
I completely agree with you!
May I ask what your opinions are on Tretinoin and Vitamin C setums?
@@noneya154Tretinoin is a gift from God
@ yes of course they are both great products depending how you use them. Tretinoin keeps your skin in constant cellular turnover and is great for acne (basically an advanced exfoliator) when using avoid other active ingredients like (aha, bha, glycolic, retinols, etc) also keeping your skin hydrated and wearing spf otherwise you can really strip or damage your skin barrier.
Vit C is really great for a natural brightening of the skin and pairs really well with spf to help fight off free radicals which are basically molecules that lead to damaging of the skin (aging 😢)

If our ancient ancestors were alive today I swear they would think we're stupid. I don't understand why people care so much about a water bottle... Honestly, why?! Why do we waste time on meaningless and consumable things?
the future of our world is in the hands of these people 😂
To be fair, our ancient ancestors were really into golden calfs 😅
Because humans are designed and desperately need connection but society and pur lives are devoid of it. So people try to fill that space with anything.
If you study history, humans have always been stupid. But we’ve always had smart ones too.
You are correct!
Plus, I make $22/hr. That’s TWO hours of work. Not worth it. I can find a similar product for less.

As we speak I haven’t even washed my face yet 😂 living in a house with 5 people with 1 bathroom doesn’t allow for a 30 minute skin care routine 😆
One of my goals for this year is to not wear as much makeup while filming!
i loove hannah alonzo!! totally agree with these sentiments
The overconsumption is still bad here, but on the stanley craziness scale, I rate this a low problem compared to those faceless food tray stanley "restock" videos
fair!
The tapping WAS too much!😂 omg!!!
It also worries me the quantity of product on someone's skin, I know im not the only one.
God bless.
Her squeezing out all the sunscreen makes me wanna scream! Lol that brand is expensive, that travel size is almost $15 and she just wasted at least 2-3 uses. 😵💫 FERAL
like what was the purpose of that!?
aw I love that!
Blech!
The food trays for Stanley’s just make no sense. Lol
literally no sense at all. if you go to take a sip, all your food is going to just dump out! lol
@ they look like something off of SHEIN 😂
@@Saranewberry0599 or temu lol
I saw a video where someone put salad and pasta (with red sauce!) in their Stanley food tray. You cannot tell me that eating your full dinner out of that tray is easier than eating it off a plate!
Exactly like I can’t just grab a bowl I already own
The product tapping sends me over the edge. Why do they all do that? It’s so nerve wrecking
I agree with pretty much every concern you have risen. What boils me the most is wasting a ton of product just for a video. I always cringe really hard when I see that. It’s just washing money down the drain.
completely agree. influencers are freelance salespeople. I don't find what they do important and I'm not gonna feel bad for them if they get hate for the way they choose to sell, which is often in a manipulative way. btw if anyone has been keeping up with the honey "scam"-- I literally could not be happier about influencers accidentally screwing themselves by taking a sponsorship without thinking critically about how they make money. they probably thought that the company would be screwing their viewers, not them
Can they all stop with the finger tapping on EVERYTHING!??
OMG is extremely annoying 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hi, your channel was sent by God in my life. I have been extremely affected by this way of consuming, here in Brazil, being an influencer is the most common thing. We really have many and they convince us that we need so many things. When in fact, we already have more than we need! The enemy even uses this to make us empty and distract us from what really matters. Thank you Susy, the videos have been healing for me! Keep going! Hugs from Brazil ❤️🚀
Hi!!! Thank you so much!! 💛💛 It is really sad they live off of promoting this indulgence.
Generally, do not blame influencers, blame yourself for listening to them
I don't follow Mahatma Ghandi but he had a wise saying, 'Live simply so that others may simply live." I may have the means to follow these trends, but as a Christian, I have to steward that money appropriately.
3:32 "This gives your skin that extra little moisture before your moisturizer" - how is that not a joke?😄
The first woman embodies all my dislikes: vocal fry, that stupid head band, tapping acrylic nails on products and jump cuts.
Is that what the quick cuts from scene to scene called? Jump cuts? That drives me nuts and hurts my brain! Literally bet it causes ADD.
When they put all the charms on the Stanley, how do they wash them thoroughly? That would get on my nerves immediately. I don’t even put stickers on my water bottles for this reason.
Maybe the tapping is so they can claim their nail appointment on their taxes lmaooo 😂
I have always wondered why on all those "restock" videos they always fill an empty box, there are never any products left from the last time they "restocked". Apparently, they always run out of all products at the same time
The Words "cute", "little" and "haul" make me feral.
understandable haha
I wonder if the tapping (or at least this is how I interpret it, and why it makes me upset) is like people snapping to get your attention. Like "Focus here! This is important! You see this product? It's important!"
This is a good interpretation! I feel it could definitely be that, as well as the asmr aspect. It’s sad.
Oh my you’re face when watching “pack my overnight Stanley with me” 😂😂😂 hilarious and reflects my attitude 100000%
I really don’t mind if people really like to do all of those things if it makes them happy but overall it’s such an over consumption 😢
Edit: Also, I like your delicately savage commentary style 🤣
i’m so glad I can bring to light that issue! yes! they leak quite a lot😂
I have a Stanley and the only time that mine leaked was when I accidentally knocked it on its side, which is understandable. 😳 my cup has never leaked.
I’ve also heard they contain lead
I love your videos so much. Thank for making these videos
Here by your suggestion... thank you prarish
thank you so so much!!
Truly thank you for this. As a parent it’s really hard trying to show kids this. I appreciate this video so much. Thank you! You are amazing ❤
It definitely is and young males/teenagers are buying steroids to get “built” and it’s like they aren’t ashamed either “it’s nothing” now.
I keep you in my prayers
@@felesamabilis thank you that's so kind 🤍
I'm sorry you're experiencing all of this. I haven't gotten into debt, but I did notice a correlation between my screen time and spending habits. I think sometimes we try to fill gaps in our lives by trying to emulate people we see as "having it all together"
@@jenniferfinn2796 thank you 😊 and yeah absolutely! It's scary
Hahaha! the last sentence is funny! You must be doing something right! :)
THANK YOU! The tapping, the waste, the prices, THE TAPPING, the ridiculousness, and let's not forget THE TAPPING... these things drive me insane!
"clean girl" restock is definitely a rage bait 😂
35:30 While the young lady was out buying shoes, pants, tops and hoodies, it's a shame she didn't buy a few adjectives. The only one she seems to know is "cute".
😂
Xo
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you’re enjoying them! 🫶🏻
I have a visceral reaction to the tapping. I hate it. I don't use that word often, but I cannot stand when people do the tapping.
Differin is very similar but not quite Tretinoin. They penetrate differently. But yes, less harsh overall
I buy Tretinoin without prescription, not from the US though 😊
All of it is designed to be addictive. It drives our desire for dopamine. The moment I feel irritated I come off it.
Yup! I talked about this in my attention span video as well!
Yes. the one big ad part is crazy.
Ladies sitting at home watching QVC used to be a sign of losing touch and getting old. But now the exact same thing is happening on social media and seen as trendy.
8:51 Botox on someone so young is sad 😞
I agree with everything you said! I don’t think you where being judgmental you where just stating facts!
Ps. Your voice is so calming!
I don’t think we should care about being judgmental towards harmful material advertising. If a movie isn’t good no one is scared to say so right?
I am 37 and look early twenties still… I use a cleanser and sunscreen only and my secret is sleep and clean eating. I can’t help but think adding so many things to your face will disregulate your body’s natural oil production.
that’s a good point! all of these things will also change our skins ph level as well, especially if you’re layering product over product.
Stanley’s are co-opted by the clean, well to do, “healthy,” skinny, and it girl type of aesthetic/women and people who struggle with identity and are easily influenced by trends gravitate towards the Stanley because it gives them the false sense of being apart of those aesthetics and those groups of women IMO.
this makes sense!
Stanley thermos used to be associated with hard working men, and filled them with soup or coffee.
OMG. the TAPPING, it drives me nuts!!! I HATE THE TAPPING!!! 😂😂
I always hate the way they grab bag of items in their shopping/restocking videos! 😂😂😂😂
We need to start a petition: STOP ALL TAPPING IN VIDEOS! lol
It really is a complicated relationship! 😂
That’s it!
