Momentus Hotel Alexandra. You wouldn't want to stay there either even if it's within your budget. Great staff, great executive club lounge, great dining options inside and outside the hotel, but the small-ish and stuffy rooms (from air conditioning that stops working in the middle of the night, more pertinent for those who like cooler rooms) are not pleasant to deal with.
I would love to see a review of Raffles Hotel on your channel! Yes, it's expensive but there is a reason it continues to show up in the list of top hotels of the world ...
It is an all suite hotel, with a world famous cocktail, the breakfast in Tiffin Room, those great square meals served on tiffin boxes, and other memorable traditions. I can only say the only time the Raffles Hotel in our lifetime was near affordable was when Covid struck.
2 very different places but both quite ideal! Grand Mercure Roxy, if you asked me a couple of years ago, I would say no but there is a new train station which leads you directly to Orchard in 30-35 mins! Surrounding them would be the culturally rich Katong shophouses filled with classic food. You are also minutes away from East Coast Park, which has some good food! On the other hand, Novotel Kitchener, is located within Little India, another culturally rich area in Singapore. Nearest MRT also leads you to town in 25 minutes! Unfortunately room wise, we do not have much knowledge about it but novotel "recently" had a renovation back in 2020! And mercure on the other hand is slightly dated. Hope this helps!
Seconding your take on MBS lol. My cousin and I stayed in a low level room for around SGD 350 for 1 night back in 2019 - dunno how much it costs now lol. It was great to have a nice view of Gardens by the Bay 😂 and to be able to go up to the pool / observation deck, but it’s not an experience I would be keen to repeat unless for a really special occasion - and even then, I can think of at least a couple other hotels I would book instead.
Lance, although 3 out of the 5 hotels are on my 'Dream Staycays' list (Raffles Hotel, MBS and Sentosa hotels such as Capella), I totally agree with your list! With MBS being the backdrop of views, I am sure other hotels such as Fullerton Bay Hotel and Fairmont will have way better views with MBS in sight :D
Indeed! We would love to stay in these hotels as well but if we dont have 2k laying around doing nothing, we would definitely wanna stay in these hotels! haha Yes, Fullerton Bay has one of the best views of MBS!
We actually did a hotel review before! It was actually our 2nd hotel review hahaa. Location wise definitely good, but cant say for the service since its been awhile! But room facing towards the city-ish views are definitely much better!
What do you think? haha comment down below any other bad hotel experiences you had!

Those were the days! I wonder why room rates for MBS skyrocketed from SGD 350 a few years back.
Haha, agreed! Me and Rose totally regret not doing MBS review back in 2020 when rates were so much cheaper.
