Best interpretation of Liszt I've ever heard. And let's all stop comparing Maksin to this composer and that composer and that pianist. Why can't you just enjoy his talent and accept him for who he is Maksim Mrvica, who is absolutely FANTASTIC!!! :) To have grown up during war-time in his country and to have made it this far is amazing to say the least and God bless him for that alone.
I think that this piece, while far removed from the original source, really captures the darkness and deathly captivating ENERGY of the original piece. I love it a lot. It also has a new-wave energy and feel to it that Maksim is known and loved for. All things said and done, I love this arrangement.

he bring classical music to entirely new audience who probably otherwise would never listen to this kind of music. I think he is a bridge to many more people accepting classical music in the same way Vanessa Mae does

Guys use your head. It ain't suppose to be like the original. It's introducing the piece in a style that the younger people would wanna hear. I never listened to the original version until I heard this, then I fell in love with the original.

music is music whether they are interpretations or original pieces, it is what it is. Even if everyone believes that the song is an abomination, it is still music because the artist who created it or interpreted it believes whatever they feel and that's still music. Makism is epic just like many of these new age guys. Big love to them!
no I think he is great and brave enough to be playful with music that is a sign of a master and not an upstart. I play piano myself and in my opinion both him and Lang Lang are probably greatest pianists of our time.
I find the people who keep commenting things like What has this guy done to liszt, its a travisty are the ones who are simple minded, We live in modern scociety now not the 19th century...I think Liszt would be very proud of the fact that nearly 200 years on his music is still being played and adapted to a modern audiences...i am a fan of both classical and the modern versions and im also only 18, all my friends hate classical but if i show them maksim they agree its fantastic.
