donation, stopped to chat w. a couple…a paw began tapping on my shouder..I turned & was face to face w. a gorgeous Bombay (whose owner had just passed away).

Our Bombay is so smart. She mimics English words like “hello” with her meows and brings the kids dirty clothes to me when she wants a treat (we thank her for doing the laundry). She is the best.
We adopted our Bombay from a shelter and he was a “clearance” kitty because he had already been there since birth and hadn’t been adopted so they moved him from the main adoptable cat area to the hallway of last chances (that’s what we call it at least). We knew he was the cat we were looking for the moment we got to see him. He wanted to be in our arms and even gave me a nose kiss. His name is Salem and he’s gonna be 4 in two months. He is the smartest little man I’ve ever met. We knew he looked different from other black cats and his fur is just the silkiest. He spends his day being my shadow and has to be apart of everything I’m doing wether it be cooking, cleaning, or making soaps he has to have his special chair to sit in and watch. He learned how to open doors because he wanted to be with his new twin baby sisters and didn’t appreciate being locked out because he wanted to play. He is a Bombay to the bone in behavior and loves chatting but needs to be the center of attention. Just goes to show that animal shelters are the best places to find wonderful, smart, and gorgeous cats. We have a Nebelung and a Russian blue who look purebred. Of course we also have our oldest we got at 9 yrs old whose a calico tabby mix. She’s scruffy from a hard life but good company. If you want a cat like a Bombay always check your local shelters, they really have beautiful cats who needs homes.
This is my husband's account lol But Wow, this sounds just like our story! We wanted a black kitten to be bff's with our new rescue orange tabby kitten, Ziggy. We went to a shelter adoption event and looked at several black kittens, but when we held the last one, he cuddled up to me and started to purr and rub his face on mine. It was like he was meant for us. We named him Salem and he just turned 5 months old. Being that I have had one other black cat and my mother had a black cat, I could tell this was something different about this kitten. I started doing some research and he is DEFINITELY a Bombay! I just love him, his demeanor is so sweet and loving! He was the perfect addition to our family!

We heard a small meow while in our backyard. My wife called and a small black (Bombay) kitten hopped the fence and has been with us ever since. He’s such a great cat and very smart. He playfully “attacks” my wife but he follows me everywhere. “AJ” Is part of the family now.
This video is really accurate. I just lost my Bombay of 15 years to cancer, and she would always help make the bed by jumping on top of the sheets. Once we had 14 guests and she walked around and introduced herself to each one of them separately. I work from home and she was my constant companion. I have never had a cat who would go out for the long bomb and catch it when you threw it! After she died, we sent her to the Cryonics Institute and I hope to see her again someday. When it is time, I will find another Bombay to rescue, they are just the best friend you could ever want. Vaya con Dios...
I am sorry for your loss bc of my adhd and attention span i didn't read all of it but I really wanna get a bombay cat but already have an orange 2 brain cell fucker called zimba that attacks my other cat sometimes my sister is taking the other cat so i thought: why not replace it with my favorite cat breed? The bombay! But will he like it with another cat?
I ended up adopting a female Bombay 17 years ago. Her mom gave birth in my yard and abandoned her. We Bottle nursed her and she grew into the most beautiful tiny princess. At 17 she developed a very aggressive bone cancer and I had no choice but to end her life to save her the agony. You have never seen a 60 year old man utterly loose it in public, crying like a little child. For many days.... So I feel your loss and pain. I have had many animals in my life, but my little bombay cat was my "child". I miss her terribly. I don't think I can have another, as nothing can replace HER. 😢
And yes, she always helped make the bed! Her name was Diesel, because the rattled like one when she purred.

Love love LOVE my Bombay. She immediately bonded with me at our shelter. She was 4 months and the most sociable baby. Great with dogs, cats, walking on leash, backpack travels, etc from the jump. She's a year now and she's incredible! I sit and type as she sleeps on my legs. Personality down to a T in this video. Her black beans are my favorite too! One of the most intelligent cats I have ever met.

Got me one of those from the local shelter. He was listed as a domestic shorthair but, yup, he's a Bombay with all those characteristics. A quality cat. I can recommend them. I taught mine to fetch and he brings his mouse back in his mouth and drops it at my feet. 🏆

We got our cat from a cat foster care. She is a Bombay through and through. I've never had a cat that wanted so much playtime and loves people so much. Such a special cat breed
My Bombay showed up one day at my home around six months of age. Nobody in the neighborhood knew where he came from. I adopted him and the vet did the rest.
He created quite a stir and became somewhat of a celebrity in our community on the internet. He actually walks up to anybody and especially if they are walking a medium size or small dog. People are surprised to see him coming out to greet everybody.
If strangers try to pet him without letting him first smell your fingers, WHACK! Out comes the paw with one nail protruding for a quick little prick. I call him Frankie "the Claw." He follows me everywhere in the house, loves to walk on the piano keys, stare at himself and me in the mirror, tango with my dog, and wraps himself around my shoulder---actually he sits wherever he wants. He follows me down the block to the corner store and back.
When I walk my dog, Frankie stalks us jumping out of the shadows and tackling my dog and me every so often.
Frankie thinks I can't feed myself very well so he brings lizards and rats to me for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Frankie, however, prefers my cuisine, and Frankie gets what Frankie wants.
I came here with a black cat but left with a Bombay. Cool. 👍
I’ve had my Kitty since 12 weeks old and Jynx is amazing!! He’s 7 now and I’m absolutely sold on a male Bombay being in my life forever. He really was so perfect for me because my family is all dog people so he truly fits right in! He’s also lived and moved hundreds of miles with me and will never leave my side. He’s amazing ❤

Oh my good golly gosh, Bombay cats are my very favorite cat! I had a thing for black cats for many years now and that would only be more confirmed when I started cat sitting a fifteen year old female Bombay! She gave me unconditional kitty cuddles during one of my lowest points of my life! She is now NINETEEN years old, and she is still the love of my life! Nanny loves you always, Little Girl!
A stray just choose my family this past weekend. She showed up in our front yard early Saturday morning. She such a sweetheart.
A mother cat abandoned a just born kitten and we took it in and it appears to be a Bombay, it fits all the discriptions to a T. Even has that Panther walk. Such a beautiful animal. He truly is a mini Panther.

We love our Bombay. We rescued him from the outside snow about 2 years ago while he was a kitten. He's chosen me as him human, but very good cat. Loves to cuddle, follows me from room to room, extremely loyal cat. Great with our 5 year old, and other cats, though he does have to be center of attention and will definitely let you know when he wants attention. Aside from my Bengal mix, whom is pretty much the same way, very quickly earned spot as my favorite type of cat to own
Hmm i blv my little black fluff ball is half Bombay. He fits every characteristic. I wondered why he was a little different then most black cats that i was honored to have in my life and now i think i know why. Hair black down to the roots, beautiful copper rimmed w green eyes, round head n ears, short muzzle etc etc. This little extrovert is a joy to have around. Perfect mix of sweet and mischievous. His collar is a small pendant with a cute heart with horns n a tail. His name Chaos. I guess i needed a little Chaos in my life. And my roomie says i am a complete witch now that i have my black cat....and yup he was born the beginning of October. Shout out to all the people who share their life n home to these awesome creatures may they bring you all the love and luck to your hearts content.
I have one and his nam is Rocky. I got him when he was 7 weeks old. I taught him fetch,turn in a circle, & stand on his back paws to get his temptations treat.
He follows me everywhere. I remember the first day I got him he would be playful and when he got tired he would get on my shoulder and fall asleep.

He is about 4 months old. Rescue!Smartest cat I’ve ever had. So smart a little wary of me at 1st so I was taken back. Thought I got the wrong cat.
I’m used to cats that perch and are needy and being love hogs. Not as much of a percher but extra needy. He wants all the attention at all times or he is watching me like a weirdo.
Just an amazing lover he is. Really good with my kids and whippet hound in the fam. Mellow most of the time with a hunger you gotta watch. He always wants to eat. Short and chunky with a long tail. Those eyes. I can’t see him in the dark until his eyes are open. You can’t tell what is what even on a white background until he opens his eyes. Very freaky but gentle cats. Most gentle of any cat I’ve ever had. The play bites are so obvious with I lick on the end to let you know he is joking. Just don’t cross the freak! Seriously.
We have had 3 Bombsys in our family, including our 1st cat 35 yrs ago. We currently have Ember, an 8-yr-old sweetheart! Bombays are the BEST cats!!!

I have a Bombay - my first black cat ever. Amazing little guy - so friendly and affectionate.
Our sweet Bombay passed on 28Aug23 after 17 1/2 years. He was indeed a surprisingly resilient cat that adapted to 3 different homes and was easy to take care of. He especially loved to be brushed and would have gladly succumbed to that treatment until he was bald!! He would take walks with us just like a dog. He was a remarkable little fellow and he is sadly missed.
Everything and I really mean everything in this video is EXACTLY my Laramine who is a rescue.
He is like a human in his affection and obedience.
He is overweight but recently he is on a strict diet.

We just adopted our Mia from our local SPCA. We have had her for a week, and is such a love! She is settling in well, and is always near .
My Bombay cat is a girl and her name is Mimi and she is 7 months. She is a rescue cat, found in a semi in bad shape. She was gifted to our family as an early xmas gift for my kiddos. As soon as she made her way into the house she followed me upstairs to my daughters room and jumped right in her lap snuggling with her. At that point we knew she was meant for our family. She is my 3rd baby, my world and I am crazy about her! She is definitely a Bombay cat, chill personality, friendly and my shadow. I look forward to coming home from work and her reaching up for me to pick her up and give her her daily snuggles!! ♥️😍🐈⬛️
One thing not mentioned is how talkative they are! When I walked into the shelter there was forlorn tiny black thing. He looked up at me and gave me a meow like “please 🙏 help me ❤”. Ok! I adopted 2 black babies that day. He started to talk about 4 months and hasn’t shut up since 😅. Taught him to fetch and give paw. He loves me and only me but he does hide when someone visits. I think it’s because he was born feral and is very high strung. He has his own sleeping spots. He’s 11 now and one of the great loves of my life ❤❤
I got my cat 3 years ago for $20 off of craigs list, and I never knew what breed she was. All I knew was that she was extremely clingy, very affectionate, but also very spoiled and likes to bite when her mood is foul. She follows me from room to room but ignores my roommates entirely.
But after seeing a tiktok about the top 5 most aggressive cat breeds, I started to suspect my baby might be a Bombay. Now after seeing this I'm 100% certain that she is 😄
According to you I have two Bombay cats, both rescues, though one is feral and the other is domestic. The feral is very affectionate with me, but disappears when company comes. The domestic is an extrovert, loves to meet new people, and remembers old friends. They are both gorgeous cats. ❤

The county I live in spay and nutter cats then clip off one tip of an ear and put them out in the county. I was hearing a little cry under my deck and there she was. The most beautiful cat I ever saw. I began feeding her and giving her space and after a short time she was rubbing against me then climbing on me. Now she’s my best pal. She an American Bombay. She stole my heart.

I have 2 Bombays. One is 18 and the other is 6. They are such a joyous breed to own. Very smart and loving. My 18 yr old gets along famously with the 6 yr old and still loves to play. A wonderful breed!

i love my Bombay. I was cooking on my grill in backyard two summers ago and all of a sudden a baby Bombay kitten showed up at my feet. like kitten kitten. Clinged right to me as to pick me in life as if it was choosing me to be its owner. . We were locked in. She next to my dog is my pride and joy of life. attached to my hip and sleeps with me every night. So glad she picked me. Meant to be
My family is fostering kittens, we fostered four cats with two being Bombay. Once the two other cats got adopted one of the Bombay cats (Waffle) started to become extremely attached to me, cuddling with me as soon as I got home from school and in the morning, never leaving my side. I’m trying to convince my parents to let me keep her as a day before the foster cats came into my house, my gray tabby Walter who I was attached to went missing and still hasn’t returned after a month so I am hoping to keep the snuggle bug
I have one and she is everything and more, mine was a neighbors that they abandoned, long story short I let her decide who she wanted to be with and she is happily with me by choice, great smart cat, she has trained me well !

I had a Goldman eyed, entirely black cat as a young woman. He escaped from my Mum going to the vet and we saw him a year later sunning himself in the window of the house across the street. We called on them and they willingly gave him back to us. His name was Sam.

Yes, always....wants attention! He can be passed out asleep, but has to get up and follow me everywhere. He will sleep with me for so long until my bf lays down and puts off tons of heat. When he can't find his humans, he talks so loud. 🤣 Lastly, he does go to anyone that walks in the house....trader.💗 His poor tail is not short, but not really long like our Tuxedo cat and the darn thing gets stepped on a lot because he moves it when we move. Found a Bombay stray kitten (or should I say he found and adopted me). Had to get part of his tail cut off due to neglect, but he’s still a jumper and cuddle bug. Everything they said is true!!! There was a beautiful black 🐈⬛ cat that hung around my house!!! I hadn't seen the cat in awhile but one day I heard a cat meowing loudly at my window 🪟!!! It was and all black kitten my friend told me two other kittens where run over up the street from my house I guess it was her brother and sister,so I figured we were meant to be together!!! Wow my guy Ace is 17 and I just found out he's Bombay. Got him from the county dog catcher, and he picked me. He fits EVERYTHING described. His Creepy staring...he sits next to me in my bed and will get mad and stare off for 15 minutes if I don't acknowledge him. He also fits the health issues...heart murmer and urinary issues ..he's had to eat special food his whole life. His walking...I ALWAYS thought he had hip or spine issue cuz his gait was not like other cats!! He's my bestie, and I hope I get many manu more years with him. 😽😼😺😸😽😼😺😸

Luv my Bombay she literally follows me everywhere I go n the house
I just had to send my beloved Bombay, Monkeybear, over the Rainbow Bridge, due to cancer. One of the most heartbreaking days I can remember; she was a truly magical and wonderful kitty.
