Everything about the 80s was great: its music, movies, fashions, culture and general upbeat take on life. Especially refreshing after the cynical, downer of the 70s.
I have been fortunate in that there have been several new releases in recent years that I loved and bought. New music by: Pat Benatar (just singles, though), Patty Smyth (of Scandal), Richard Marx, Berlin, Delta Goodrem, Dennis DeYoung, Kamelot, Pride of Lions, Ides of March, Daughtry, etc. I loved the Greatest Showman musical movie. The soundtrack for it was great. The most recent song released, is Prom Night in Pontiac. A country rock song sung by one of the female Trans-Siberian Orchestra singers. Other 70s and 80s artists who have released new music in recent years: Bruce Springsteen, Kansas, Blue Oyster Cult, Night Ranger, Journey, Ann Wilson (of Heart), Nancy Wilson (of Heart), Billy Idol, etc.
Sheena has one of those voices that could fit any song you put in front of her, be it her youthful voice in the 1980s or the huskier voice that she has now due to bouts with acid reflex disease robbing her of some of ability to hit the higher notes
I think every year there were great songs & shitty songs. We are just hearing the great songs from yesteryears because the shitty ones got forgotten and lost in time.
“Almost over you” is an acquired taste that will ensnare you after 2 or 3 listens? Try it. But I agree with you. Her pitch in this song 🎵 is unlike her other songs. I know what you’re saying. And it isn’t her best by the malleable masses tallies. I also love “modern girl”, that goes beneath the radar compared to “strut” and “morning train”
@@truthreignsforever9286 Don't forget When He Shines and Wind Beneath My Wings. Those two really fly under the radar and definitely demonstrate the prowess she has for ballads and hurting songs. And don't forget she duetted with Kenny Rogers on We've Got Tonight, a song that gets overshadowed by Islands in the Stream that Kenny did with Dolly Parton months later, a fact that I think makes Dolly jealous as Kenny Rogers said Sheena Easotn was hot at the time they recorded We've Got Tonight.
What a great song. The 80s was such an amazing time for so much: for music, for dance, for movies, for friendships, for going out, for art, for dating, for romance, for love, for dreams and so much more. . . .

It's interesting how music can evoke different emotions in listeners. Despite the energetic vibe of "Telefone (Long Distance Love Affair)" by Sheena Easton, it seems to resonate with a sense of sadness for you. Music has the power to connect with our emotions in various ways, and it's okay to feel a range of emotions while listening to a song. If you find solace or comfort in music that expresses sadness, it can be a cathartic experience to embrace those feelings through the music. ❤❤❤

Don’t think I ever saw this video back in the 80s, even though this was one of my fav songs. I can’t believe I waited 30 years for that, lo!! But still love Sheena and this fab song!!!!
I was a progressive radio station DJ in the 80s and not supposed to like this stuff. But I did. A lot. I even went to see Sheena. OK, it's out in the open now. :)
You really should've played the crap out of Sugar Walls if you were the DJ, as that song marked the complete transformation from the pretty girl next door your parents thought was a good kid to the really hot girl next door who your parents despised for being a sexual degenerate
Sheena Easton recorded this very song in Spanish as well, so it was a smash hit both in English and Spanish in Latin America, how could I ever forget!!!

A video of bewitching sight and sound. Been marveling over this amazing assortment of classic creatures and how Sheena handles them since it was a new video on mtv.
I saw Sheena in concert in the 90s. She sang all her great songs, but left Telefone out. When I met her afterwards in the autograph line, I asked her to please include Telefone in any future concerts as it was one of her best.

Making a long distance call to the 1980s--please come back
Operator: please hold...
I was 7 years old when this track came out. Totally takes me back to my childhood and teenage years and my first crush on a girl in junior high in the late 80s. The 80s and 90s were a special time. Simpler days those were and so fun. I wish I could go back and relive those days over and over again.
Totalmente de acuerdo..😥
Amen

Loved this when I was a kid. Anybody else think this was her best hit? 💗💗💗
This is great but I think For Your Eyes Only is her best hit.
I remember waiting for this song to play on the radio so I could record it on tape on the boombox.
Epic
And then the dj talks over the whole intro right up to the words lol🙌
1983 Hands down the best year of the 80's for pop music... How I would give everything to be 13/14 again and be in utter bliss with not a care in the world
I say best music was '83/'84 combined. MJ, Duran Duran, Lauper, Culture Club, etc etc and MTV
1983-85 and a lot of 1986 thrown in.
81-82, 83-84, 85-86
I like 87 the best
I agree. Here's my 1983 music videos playlist with more than 1,000 videos. Let me know if I've missed any! th-cam.com/play/PL6oCQqv2KW6WTjSBpavnnkILla2nhwwrV.html
God, I loved being a teenager in the 80s.
"Okay, Sheena, we're gonna start this scene with Frankenstein's monster. He's going to come in and totally bogart the telephone. Right? You see what we did there? And then you'll push Dracula off of a balcony, and there's a severed hand moving through the graveyard, and then... it's just, its going to work. Trust us, you'll see...
Sheena: Ok ill give it a shot. I sure hope my fans like it
One the greatest voices of the 80's.
One of the Greatest voices Ever! ❤
Absolutely love this and she's absolutely beautiful
Im glad its on here now. I used to see this on Night Flight and Friday Night Videos. Very Cool

Best Kept Secret

Don’t think I ever saw this video back in the 80s, even though this was one of my fav songs. I can’t believe I waited 30 years for that, lo!! But still love Sheena and this fab song!!!!
It was worth the wait.
Ha ha same here
Hi Laura,hope you’re okay ?
I was a progressive radio station DJ in the 80s and not supposed to like this stuff. But I did. A lot. I even went to see Sheena. OK, it's out in the open now. :)
You really should've played the crap out of Sugar Walls if you were the DJ, as that song marked the complete transformation from the pretty girl next door your parents thought was a good kid to the really hot girl next door who your parents despised for being a sexual degenerate
Sheena Easton recorded this very song in Spanish as well, so it was a smash hit both in English and Spanish in Latin America, how could I ever forget!!!
I didn't know that! *goes to find Spanish version*
Huge, huge hit in the Philippines, too. So is Sheena.
@@oilbrolaryongplantpapa5546 Remembering is to live again!

Good for you. Every teenager should have an Eighties experience.
Me too that's because they are brilliant and way better than what is supposed to be music these days
you're a cool teen! :D
Still listening 2019
This is beautiful
I remember watching this at my grandmothers house when I was 9. Haven't been able to find it for the rest of my life til now. Finally I can move forward with my life...

Un gran clásico de los 80's que no debería de faltar en las memorias musicales.

I've been away from you For far too long
Too much absence Makes the heart go frantic
I wanna tell you What's been going on
Operator, get me Transatlantic
I sit alone as the night goes by
Stare at the phone
And wait for your reply
Long, long distance love affair, oh, oh
I can't find you anywhere, oh, oh
I call you on the telephone But you're never home
I gotta get a message to you
Wanna tell you what I'm going through, oh, oh
What in the world's coming over you
How come you're acting like a total stranger
I try to reach you but I can't get through
I got this feeling that my heart's in danger
I got your letter It was perfectly clear
Having a ball And wishing you were here
Premonition is a funny thing
Unfamiliar kind of vague and hazy
Like knowing when The phone is gonna ring
Too many times and It'll drive you crazy
I hear you echoing along the hall
Call out your name But no one's there at all
I’m 31 and just discovered this gem love it.
I'm 31 now as well and have taken a shine to her music. She is the best vocalist I've heard as her Scottish accent gives her songs a certain flair.
This is a huge hit in the Philippines in the 80's omg

One of my favourite songs from the 80s
This video was hard to come by, its been years since its been here.
i often head this song when i was a kid because my father liked this song and i ended up liking it too, i even search " LONG LONG DISCO LAVANDER " just to heard it again.
I'm now 24 and definitely liked this genre of music than our generation of music today.
A video of bewitching sight and sound. Been marveling over this amazing assortment of classic creatures and how Sheena handles them since it was a new video on mtv.
A wonderful voice!!
I saw Sheena in concert in the 90s. She sang all her great songs, but left Telefone out. When I met her afterwards in the autograph line, I asked her to please include Telefone in any future concerts as it was one of her best.
Did you ask her why she left the great song out??
Just saw her last weekend. She sang Telefone!
80s will always be the era of good music, I still remember the lyrics of this song, I can still sing along with it.

I just noticed that this makes a perfect mix into 'Gloria' from Laura Brannigan!
This and Michael Jackson's "Thriller" were perfect mix of 80's Halloween party songs. Spooked me as a kid, LoL!
Hermoso tema, me recuerda a la adolescencia!!!! Gracias por compartirlo
Hello friend,

I'm so excited to see Sheena in concert at Morongo this weekend. She was my first concert.
I heard this song when I was very young, and I still love it so much.
I have this 'tradition' named all my pets after famous people, my puppy Sheena was gorgeous too. (she had no idea how to sing like this special lady)
I'm hunting this song for 26 years
This song came out even before I was born, I'm lucky my mum and aunt would always listen to 80s music when I was growing up and I grew up loving the decade too!
