Hey Marty, Justin from WizKids. Couple of things 1: All clips on a go forward basis will be our new buttery smooth EZ-Clips 2: The recess on the walls of each tile are to allow 25mm bases to nestle properly when positioned against the wall. Its a small detail but we wanted to make sure there a mini didn't cream out of its 1" square.
As an owner of both Id have to say DF City stuff is my favorite but I use the WizKids Town stuff as well. This was an amazing, well thought out video. Thanks so much! Edit: Forgot to mention DF has a second Cities Kickstarter later this year
Thank you so much for the view and kind words! I will be checking out the DF Kickstarter, but I'm not certain yet whether I will be adding any new pieces. I've started printing a lot more, so it gives me the flexibility to print exactly what I want (assuming I can find the right STL or something close enough).
Hey, as a big fan of the boardgames like Wrath of Ashardalon or Dungeon of the Mad Mage... Do you know if there is a propper forum/discord or whatever for that? I've been trying to look for people that like those too for casual times to discuss rules or creating custom characters/monsters but I cannot seem to find the people.
Large build plate resin printers are very affordable now. We no longer need fdm printers for terrain, or at least not all of it (only the largest pieces).
Yes, it's true resin printers are now dipping below $600 with 7.5 to 8 inch plates... but the resin itself is still somewhat pricey, messy, and potentially toxic. It's still very much a hobbyist niche. Even with a resin printer, I wouldn't want to have to print a ton of basic floor and wall tiles due to time and expense. I think that's where these WizKids dungeon and town base sets fit in nicely. Even with a printer, you can focus on printing the fun stuff -- custom bits, fountains, altars, fireplaces, furnishings, or other needs that are not easily fulfilled by something off the shelf. I think that's true for both resin and FDM. Your mileage may vary, as they say.
@@RagingOwlbear also I find PLA is better for big scenery because it has a little flex and less brittle than than most resins. I guess up you could mix in a small amount of flexible resin but that has its own challenges. Also most scenery is designed for FDM, you would need to hollow and support yourself from many of these tiles in resin.

Nice! Thanks for the clarification. Can we get a few more OpenLock transitions? :)
Hey Justin -- Is there any discussion about allowing 3D printer enthusiasts to print their own warlock-open-lock combo clips?

@@RagingOwlbear Good points. That’s basically what I do, but I have a lot of Dwarven Forge and don’t care for Warlock’s aesthetic.
