I've had really good luck with the Namura kits. It's even gotten to the point now that I replace valves (4s heads obviously) with their stainless steel offerings under Namura/Psychic if needed as well.
@jex8046 I did a video with a cylinder head build using the Psychic total valve kit and it worked out pretty good but I don’t remember which video it was now
I want a 250 2 stroke also but sure seems like everyone wants excellent condition prices for a non running bike that’s beat to crap Thanks for the great video
You hit the nail on the head with that one. Since a bunch of manufacturers have discontinued their production they are more valuable. Kudos to Yamaha for not giving up.
Dude, you need to get a proper bore gauge and a micrometer. Those snap gauges and a vernier caliper not good enough... On the plus side, the sound of that baby when you fired her up brought back SO many memories. Love it. Thank you.
@evans5803 wonder why the manufacturer doesn’t put them in… I guess it’s the same for inner clutch hubs and drilling them for more oil flow to the plates. Thanks for the info.
It is not always a rule that quality tools are made by mechanics, but that carpenter's hammer looks very rustic! A quality mallet is not that expensive 😁
@@restoroosterohv I hope you weren't offended, my comment was a bit rude. I also have a favorite non-standard tool, a Bahco wrench :) My colleague, who is a mechanical engineer with many diplomas, likes to use kitchen knives for assembly and he has tools worth thousands of dollars :)
2000 rm250 owner, any banana vlogs I always gotta come show love lol but I’ve been on the same piston proX for 2 years with zero issue kicks up first try and still dances in the band . I’ve heard mix reviews on the namura tho, Ikno everyone Ikno and a lot of others use wiesco but me wanting to be different then everyone else I chose proX . Boyeseen rad valve with carbon reeds with full pc exhaust . This bike came out sharp tho🫡🔥💨 I’m stuck between wanting a 250f and or a 125
They have certainly come down from Covid times. Non runners have come down as well as ready to go bikes but some people still hold on to their “I know what I’ve got” prices
Rooster I tell my customers of all ages that these motocross bikes are designed for 32:1 mix and sometimes you have to jet the carb but I'd rather buy spark plugs and a set of rings every now and then compared to a $2300 completely bottom to top rebuild
Can I ask a question 2005 yz250f The clutch was catching the last 1/4 to 1/8 of lever travel I replaced all clutch and springs with tusk HD set. When torqued to oem it’s very hard to pull lever and watching the pressure plate it’s not expanding evenly away from friction plate. I checked the push rod ball bearing and bushing seems ok When I loosen the springs bolts the pull seems to get a little more even I torqued the bolts to 5.8 in criss cross. Any ideas?
I thought that with a nickel cylinder you're not supposed to use a dingo ball type hone, youre supposed to use a brush hone made for honing nicasil cylinders.
Odd on this one, I tried the recommended jet settings through Pro circuit as you see in the video and the bike did not run right. The jetting they had in there was right on the money. The spooge could be caused by crappy oil and improper ratios. He did say that he mixed oil’s.
Don't use namura brand pistons they are cast pistons they tend to fail fairly quickly and just fall apart look up the reviews for these pistons many people have had it happen
I’ve used many a cast piston throughout my life on bikes with no issues of failure (not to say that Namura wouldn’t). I appreciate your input as I get mixed reviews but so far mostly positive.

I'd like to see a video with psychic/ caltric valves. That would be cool
@jex8046 I did a video with a cylinder head build using the Psychic total valve kit and it worked out pretty good but I don’t remember which video it was now
@@restoroosterohv sweet thanks !! I plan on making the crankshaft tool and stand for the holidays thank you for uploading those as well
I've used a lot of namura pistons over the years and I've never had one to fail bc of the piston. I always recommend pro x rods.

Glad I found your channel, I like how you show the whole process and you dont edit out a bunch of stuff. Really great stuff!
I'm glad you found my channel too!
That crank jig is awesome!
Thank you. Episode 78 is the build video for these tools.
You never seem to have trouble with swing arm pivot bolts. Must be the magic hammer. Thanks for sharing
I’ve had to beat a few out for sure, but I’ve never had one crazy stuck yet. Let’s keep it that way, haha. Thanks for your comment.
Another fine production 👍Maybe Santa will bring you proper Band-Aids
This is a perfectly acceptable shop repair on the finger.
If you take the governor out it'll go faster....😂
I always enjoy the RM's and YZf's. Never gets old.
That works with lawn mowers!

Agreed, they are on the list. Can’t beat the sound of a 2 stroke.
Love hearing a new top end and seeing her kick orf easy
Yeah, these Suzuki’s are pretty good
Sounds lovely and crisp. Like the kitty litter (😉)for your spillage.great work.🇬🇧
Thank you. Kitty litter is cheap and effective
Just come across the channel man I'm hooked keep them coming 🎉😮
Welcome and thanks for commenting
Another great video. Like i keep saying we appreciate a channel putting out correct info and procedures. Keep it up.
The channel appreciates you
Another great video, killing it as always. Keep it up!
Appreciate your continued support
I recommend you add oiling holes to the piston for cylinders with the center bridge in the exhaust port.
I’ve heard of it back in the day but never have. Why?
@@restoroosterohv with some of the pistons the heat quickly and score where the bridge is so it’s kinda a relief and extra oiling never hurts
@evans5803 wonder why the manufacturer doesn’t put them in… I guess it’s the same for inner clutch hubs and drilling them for more oil flow to the plates. Thanks for the info.
@ I’m not sure why they don’t but with wiseco pistons some tell you to drill the holes in the paper that comes in the box
@ also would like to thank you for your videos they’re great to watch and I’ve learned a lot of good and valuable skills
Thanks for your time on this it’s great
Thank you

great job lad sounds sweet enuff keep it goin

that gasket for the reedblock was actually a gasket for the front of the powervalve, i also got a 99 rm125.

❤I want to learn all this,I'm getting better but if I had some one teaching me an access to the tools like thy have,
Well, the Internet can teach you for sure if you listen to the right content. As far as the tools, that takes time and money.
Never heard of them !!
With the gear fork plate thing that goes into the trans how do you know where to put them is it like only one certain spot fits it or what
It is tricky and it even confuses me sometimes. Always refer to your service manual.
Love the videos I gota 01 kx 250 can't ride know more bad knee still love two strokes
That’s a bummer
all type by rm rmz always the best and numero 2 cr
Thanks for the comment
Nice video Bikes in my area have lost value , you can buy them fairly cheap but cant sell them it seems marketplace is flooded with them.
They have certainly come down from Covid times. Non runners have come down as well as ready to go bikes but some people still hold on to their “I know what I’ve got” prices
But what oil do you like to run on your 2 strokes? I’ve always and always been around other that ran castrol 927
Nvm I heard what I liked at the end 😂😂😂
Yip Castor 927, smells so sweet when burning.
Did you not drill holes for the exhaust bridge ?
I did not and have already been called out on it. Haha
Rooster I tell my customers of all ages that these motocross bikes are designed for 32:1 mix and sometimes you have to jet the carb but I'd rather buy spark plugs and a set of rings every now and then compared to a $2300 completely bottom to top rebuild
Now correct me if I'm wrong, your supposed to drill two holes on the exhaust side of piston if there is a bridge or divider in the exhaust port ??
Depends on the piston manufacturer
Keep her twisted. Good catch frase
That may work, thanks
Can I ask a question

I replaced all clutch and springs with tusk HD set.

Any ideas?
Maybe a spring issue, can you put your old springs back in and see if it’s any better?
@ exactly what I did at least I can ride. Wish there was middle ground
You should be fine with your old springs
What are the two different bottles of oil you use for assembly. I just picked up at blown 1998 rm125 myself
One is cheap 2 cycle oil for the crankcase side and the other is standard engine oil for the transmission side (I use Rotella T4)
I thought that with a nickel cylinder you're not supposed to use a dingo ball type hone, youre supposed to use a brush hone made for honing nicasil cylinders.
Nope, a 320 grit dingle hone is perfect to restore the crosshatching! You should never use a stone type hone.
I try to stick close to OEM , if not pro x piston kits are wut I use the most times
I was wondering if you still had my old rm125 (the one that needed the bottom end and suspension replaced) or if you sold it already
Sorry, I sold it. BTW, they all need bottom ends…haha
@ I figured I was just curious but yea they must be a common issue with the rm’s thanks for the content anyways keep doing what you do
@goodvibes-cb5zo thank you
Your jetting is still rich i have the fmf jetting specs for these bikes
This bike runs phenomenal
@restoroosterohv except for the black sludge that's going to keep blowing out the silencer
Odd on this one, I tried the recommended jet settings through Pro circuit as you see in the video and the bike did not run right. The jetting they had in there was right on the money. The spooge could be caused by crappy oil and improper ratios. He did say that he mixed oil’s.
I beleive your supposed to put that clutch side seal in the other way. It will still work tho. Ask me how I know....lol.
Meaning the crank seal with the "U" facing outwards. With the metal part facing inwards.
Don't use namura brand pistons they are cast pistons they tend to fail fairly quickly and just fall apart look up the reviews for these pistons many people have had it happen
