- After a tough archery elk hunt in September, Brady returns to the mountains of Wyoming with a rifle and takes a second shot at hunting elk in hopes of taking his first-ever bull.

A BIG Congratulations to you Brady and thanks for the help Dave. I have been waiting for the conclusion video aka your Second Shot at Wyoming elk since the BRO video and hearing about this story on a couple podcast like Randy's HuntTalk/ElkTalk Radio. Kind of feels great to get out of your comfort zone and be successful, and now you got the Big 3 with this hunt from 2018, all those High Country Giant Mule Deer and that funky horned pronghorn you targeted this year and was able to hang a tag on. I like how Wyoming lets you hunt them with archery equipment and then come back if unsuccessful and chase them with a rifle on the same tag. I am looking at doing a Wyoming combo hunt for mule deer and pronghorn, even though I do have 1 point for each. Eventually I will get to elk. One step at a time. As an INSIDER I have looked at last year's odds and strategy articles, shouldn't change too much aside from a few rule changes and date changes at least as a base while I patiently wait for the 2020 ones that I know you all are working hard on. Thanks for sharing this adventure.

Congratulations on your elk. I've elk hunted for 32 years now. Where is this in Wyoming? Elk are totally different than hunting deer. I know you weren't in the western part of the state. Not less you didn't say about the bears. Western Wyoming has a lot of bears. I have found evening hunting more successful than morning. Elk love to lay in the timber all day. By evening they are out grazing. After the rut is over the bulls hang out together and the cow and calves group up with the occasional spike. Did you bull have nice Ivory's? I live at the base of the Big Horns. I heard you say you like mile deer hunting. Check out the Powder River area. I'm not sure what area that is for non residents because residents are different. Great place for big bucks and lots of public land to hunt. It's between Buffalo and Gillette. My brother shot a nice buck by Cody. Seen Grizzlies every day. I'm subbing to your channel.

They are big w lots of hamburger for the freezer.

Know exactly where you're coming from by being a mule Deer Hunter I love to hunt mule deer but I haven't got to draw a mule deer tag in about 10 years I've drew elk tag every year
They taste totally different than deer The meat it's so good my dad went elk hunt all the time and it never had a gamey taste
Congratulations, Brady. Love looking at hunting videos because being disable does not allow me to hunt. However, I live through others hunts. How is your back? Did you ever get the surgery you was talking about with BRO a couple of years ago? Hope I have the right person. If not sorry for the mistake.

My back is actually doing a lot better since that hunt with the Born and Raised crew. I stopped playing basketball and the pain down my back and the side of my leg has gone away. I really, really miss competitive basketball, but stopping that was probably for the better.

Killed a bull with a bow this year, first one ever. Shared the experience with my girl that’s never hunted her entire life. He dropped in 30 yards, and the pack out was hell. I still love killing blacktail deer though they are my favorite but bugling bulls are right up there with em

That's real elk hunting! I was a mule deer only hunter for 20 years. And a lot of those bucks were meat bucks. And for the first couple of years, elk hunting wasn't easy. But once I got my first bull, it all changed! Still hunt bucks, and love it, but bulls taste better and give you more meat and antlers! And Ivories!
I've always been a Mule Deer hunter and like you never paid much attention to elk knowing someday I would eventually get one. This Fall I will have a great opportunity to shoot a nice bull. Looking forward to the new adventure. Great movie like always.

No grizzlies, there isn't a lot of them in that area of Wyoming.

Yes. You guys found out elk are in different areas from archery area. During archery season they are up pretty high. Then they start moving down. All depends on the weather.
Rifle definitely is different than Archery. I think rifle elk is more difficult. They've been pushed, not vocal (mostly), bulls aren't with the cows and the biggest bulls are usually in the nastiest stuff. Great elk and congratulations! 👍
I’d disagree with rifle being more difficult lol elk are smart even when rutting, unless you hunt private property farm raised elk

I've always mule deer hunted, got my first cow elk last year. No luck this year but look forward to next.

2nd shot? Must be shooting a 6.5 prc lol
Haha! The title "Second Shot" is referring to my second shot at hunting elk that year (second trip), so hunting elk once during archery and then returned for the rifle hunt. I personally would never hunt with a 6.5. This was a one-shot kill with a 300 Win Mag.
