I saw Adam on Broadway first, then saw the original cast on the DVD. I liked Adam and Chad for different reasons. Chad, in my opinion, acted it a bit better, while Adam had a better range to sing the score. Regardless, both did great in a great show.
Juan Ayala I agree. I don’t know why someone has to be “better”. They are different actors playing the character differently. I don’t understand why people can’t appreciate what each person brings to the character.
Yeah Chad has serious vocal damage, he’s talked about it, paralyzed vocal chords or something. Either way, there aren’t many tenors on Broadway as powerful Adam.
I like Adam's version of this song. But my favorite version comes from the composer, David Bryan. I've loved him as a member of Bon Jovi. He plays a mean keyboard. But hearing him sing this song. Takes me to a WHOLE nother level.
I'm sorry, but all I keep thinking is "Why is Roger living in Memphis??" LoL I was in NYC when he was doing this show..but opted to see the remake of RENT instead. KICKING myself repeatedly.( It was like watching my best friend die a slow, painful death. ) Saw him and Anthony when they were touring though. P.S. *EYELASHES!* ;)
elvanmcm Yes, I saw them in 'Rent'..also saw their "Adam and Anthony" performance when they were in Pittsburgh in 2011. We had awesome seats..4th row center. Did I meantion I am STILL kicking myself for skipping him in Memphis?? ( We also saw 'Wicked' during that trip, couldn't pull off seeing 3 shows.. but I wanted to see Rent in NYC (even if it WAS the *what I thought turned out to be awful* 'updated' version). I have seen it 6x in all. My fave. musical. :) Oh..sidenote- saw Anthony when he did the show "POP!" also in Pittsburgh in May of 2012. ( He played Andy Warhol. Anthony + Warhol?? C'mon!!
Adam is a sub-par actor for the part of Huey. Chad is the original and no matter who comes along it won't be the same. This being said I think Adam has an excellent voice and sings a little better than Chad, but the acting is just too important to the show.
At 2:35 some of the ensemble vocalists are WAY over the top, to the point that it sounds kind of bad. On another note, Adam Pascal may not be the kind of actor needed for that role, but you've got to at least love his voice!
It amazes me that people miss the point of the musical, Adam maybe a good vocalist, but the acting and the connection with the rest of the cast is soooo sooooo wrong for the show. I will not go see him in it. Chad can you return to the show or at least if there is movie made can you play Huey.
I believe that Adam is so underrated
U got that right😘
Absolutely agree with that statement
Great performance. I adore Adam. Wish I could have seen it.
Wow that end note was fantastic
This gives me chill. The fact that David Bryan was behind this gives me chill down my spine. I've always loved David.
Both he and Chad sing the song with feeling.😊
Just saw Adam perform this tonight in NYC. Incredible! 😀
I was there too! 👏☺️
@@elvanmcm Awesome! 😊
Adam pascal is the best good job.
This is such a beautiful performance of this, for everyone in the cast! Stunning ❤️

Amazing
will do!
I really like his voice; it's got a cool quality. Although, Chad Kimball in my opinion played a better overall Huey (voice included).
This is old but i definitely agree. Chads voice even down to the accent just fits better

Thank you for this. I agree, he's a fantastic musician all-around.

Good that you've seen him with Anthony in Rent! I saw him four times in Memphis. He was fantastic! :)

Feel free to post any of your vids on our new site.
I like his voice a lot better than Chad's, he probably did a fantastic job in the show
What about the D5 riff after the Memphis Lives.
Why does no one adore him performing the show? I think he's a much better vocalist than Chad.
Adam's good in the role. But David Bryan's (the writer of "Memphis" and keyboardist of Bon Jovi) voice is the BEST in this song.

He is a good actor.
Huey just doesn't seem like a great part for Adam... He's amazing and I love him but Chad just did so much better with the character
Tom hanks? 😂

Hey, the show's been closed for two years, lol. You can get the DVD if you want to see Chad.
