She’s one of the leaders of the X-Men. Regent and queen are dull and lifeless roles when compared to Emma who’s stories have more character development. Black Panther did a good job of making Emma far more popular than Storm who was sitting on a boring throne in Wakanda and Arako.
Aside from Storm continuing to showcase her divine talents and bless us with a new suit, it was truly pleasing to see the return of the original Thunderbird. His anger is not (over-dramatically) misplaced and used quite well. He has been dead for decades and the rage embedded within him will create for an excellent storyline.
Man, I hope a see some foreshadowing... Storm rejects being a Queen to reclaim her divinity as a true Goddess... The voice of Sol... The Goddess of Arrako... With her tapping into the Godhead power in Black Panther and getting a huge power boost when the Wakandans worshiped her, imagine if this whole planet... no, the whole Solar System worshiped her... She might actually scale with Thor at that point...
You gotta figure Xandra alone would keep Storm boosted lol. But it seems writers have forgotten that Storm has that power through her mystical side. Just like they’ve forgotten Rogue can completely control her powers and absorb from a distance without physical contact now, essentially her and Synch do almost the same thing. But if Storm were worshiped across the Solar System I think she’d be fat above Thor level, as written she’s pretty close to that now just without the super strength.
This was so good. I love seeing Storm, Sunspot and Magneto interacting again. It reminds me of the 80s. The final page actually made me pop like a Shawn Michaels fan after he won the title for the first time.
Honestly, this is a dream come true for me. I've always wanted to see Storm and Magneto on a team of some kind, I love when they worked together but this time it's a team book and I just melted.
Storm and Magneto were teammates during the Schism era in Uncanny X-Men Vol 2, written by the very same writer Kieron Gillen. Safe to say he like those 2 and I’m excited with you.
Yes!!! I agree!!! Storm has always been know to exploit the weakness in others and that is wear many of her victories came from cause what some may have forgotten is that Storm can see the world..the universe in terms of energy. See can even see the nervous system of other beings and is able to read the message and signals sent from the brain to throughout the body knowing every move one will make up to the fastest attack, which may have increased to the speed of thought since her Omega Level Status, and may just be able to visually keep up with Quicksilver. I believe she is able to see one’s weakness in their body and their power and Marvel has been hinting at this since her battle with Callisto. Callisto’s mutant ability is/was her combat skills but still Storm managed to defeat Callisto without the use of her "weather" powers that Storm agreed to not use but her "energy" vision is not of weather so Storm must’ve used it to triumph over Callisto. Storm has fought other gifted hand to hand combatants and won which was Wolverine, Psylocke, Khan (the invader) and Black Panther which had people wondering how and it was excused by saying it was because they were married but I sure this is something that Storm keeps a secret about and so does Marvel. Maybe it is a secondary mutation and if so then Storm was the first mutant to gain a second mutation and not Emma Frost. This is how Storm will beat Isca "The unbeaten" or it will stated that Isca has never been beaten because Isca has never had a one-on-one fight so her status comes from that fact that she has won contests and battles with a team which allows her to switch sides to win her victories and will even betray her current team by backstabbing them if her team is losing in the slightest. So she can not lose at all using those kind of tactics and Isca even smiled when Storm had beaten Tarn "The uncaring" because she knows that as long as she’s on Storms side she will most likely win. I know Storm has figured this out or will eventually cause what Isca does not know is that Storm is "unafraid". So I believe Isca is simply keeping Storm at bay by throwing that delusion around that she’s unbeaten when it has been stated that Isca has never been beaten..it was never went into full detail on how Isca never was beaten in single fights. Domino’s powers were explained on how it works but it also has a weakness…Isca doesn’t seem to have any because her powers allows her to analyze the battle and make a decision accordingly. They both are warriors and fighters Storm has the will to not lose while Isca has the mutant ability to not lose unless exploited just like Callisto. So if you take away their mutant powers…who will win and who will lose…Storm battle with Tarn showed Isca that Storm is capable either way and that she is truly experienced without powers as she is with them. I’m not gonna lie…even if I was king…I would still be scared to fight someone who’s unbeatable and that is why the other Arakki have never challenged her because they are naive and Storm might just be cautious around her but Storm is not afraid if a challenge is offered by Isca. It’s a shame No Name had to die so that Rogue, Sync, Hope and Mystique can continue to keep their shine cause No Name abilities really has no upper limits and reminds us of how much control and how deeply attuned Storm is with the elements Storm can only be harmed by the elements if she so chooses to be.
-With the mention of Petra and Sway, maybe we can actually see them gain a larger role as they and Darwin have been underutilized heavily in this era. - storm creating a brotherhood that’s of Arakko makes me believe that we’ll hopefully see more Arakki mutants stepping up and being main characters instead of just plot devices. - hopefully we finally get an explanation into what Abigail Brand is truly up to and what’s really going on with Vulcan. I WOULD like to see Proudstar get some serious character development that he was long overdue for.
For the Arrakki to join n isolated group would most likely be against their law as a United people. Now Storm and Vulcan on one team would be beyond “enuff said” along with Sunspot and Frenzy who need to be explored as part of a team. And maybe if he’s Storm’s co-lead he can learn a new behavior cause on a planet of Omega Level Mutants there will have to have an Omega Level super team. But because the “Brotherhood” basically always was an idealistic group of mutants who intentions was basically to stand up to their oppressers and transcend above weakness. So it won’t be a hero type team but a powerhouse team. Storm will just become stagnant in the role of Queen of Arrakki so she can still be the voice of Sol while Isca gains more responsibility as the new Queen of the Arrakki mutants. Hopefully the team won’t be called “Brotherhood” or anything “X-Men”, maybe Omega Force or something. Magneto needs to sit out and just simply do his own thing. Storm and Magneto are 2 of the same coin so there is no need for both of them. Maybe a stand in for Storm while her and the brotherhood go on adventure to other realms. That way her powers can be explored more as far as mastering air pressure, magnetism, brain synapses, altered visions, increased defenses and/or a healing factor and semi-elemental forms as she’s done with her clothes and hair. Storm and Vulcan can already fly in space on their own and I believe this is their time be it solo, duo or group adventures. Storm’s power levels are still pale in comparison to other Omegas. Although she’s currently“on par with the Phoenix” it needs to be witnessed. . I believe Isca can take the temporary role or stand in position of Regent if not Magneto.

On the rebirth could made Wanda be a mutant... there is a precedent for humans (or other) becoming mutants. Sinister - used mutant DNA to alter a clone he was reborn as, so this current Sinister is a mutant. Gwenpool - wished herself to be a mutant (was it reality warp applied on herself?) Cassandra Nova - Origin is a evil parasite that took DNA from Charles Xavier and created a body for herself in the womb, thus is a mutant Blerd, I do have to argue with your comment of saying Brand is half-mutant. There is no halfway for mutants they are a mutant or not a mutant. I know you were talking about her father being of a unknown alien race while her mom was human. But that does not make her "half mutant", it makes her half-Earther. A better way to say is that Brand is a hybrid mutant, = half-Earther/Half-alien. And unforntuately for Brand, she's not unique there. There are several other hybrid mutants, even on Krakoa. Off the top of my head there's Lifeguard and her brother who are half-Earther/half-Shi'ar
Since Storm is a legit goddess, as she gets more powerful as more ppl worship and pray to her, how much more powerful could she become if she had a planet full of ppl worshiping her?

Awesome review! I enjoyed this issue. It's my favorite right after Immortal X-Men. I enjoyed the Thunderbird appearance. As far as the thing with Vulcan, Sway, and Petra. Hickman recently revealed that they were supposed to be a figment of Vulcan's imagination. Unfortunately in that issue there was a printing error where Havok acknowledged them...so yeah. LOL. That final page with my Wife-In-My-Head, Storm, was breathtaking. I'm wondering if the Marauders will crossover with XMen Red because they both seem to be dabbling in some Shi'ar stuff be it directly or indirectly.
Is Vulcan still married to Deathbird? & Sunspot has a huge crush on her. Can't wait to see how that goes down. Heard someone say that Petra & Sway were figments of Vulcan's imagination.
I like Storm, Magneto and Sunspot teaming up but for some reason I think I would have been overly satisfied if it was Jubilee instead of Sunspot. Far fetched for some..I just feel Jubilee could represent the innocents, home and reminiscent for Storm in relation to this first issue of her battling her new position within herself, and If she is doing the right thing and her eager to lead in other ways than from the throne. I honestly feel like her time as Queen is going to be amazing but short lived. I just have that feeling because the X-men, BP, Wakanda and others is family and friends for her and I believe that is something Storm has always needed. Though I want her to be Regent for a very long time. Magneto is too much in the picture and though he resigned from Quiet Council and making home on Arrako and now Storm thought of a team in relation to his old team, this may be the boost he needs again. What I see is them eventually making Magneto leader of Mars with Storm giving the position to him so she can return home. I don't want that to happen but there seems to be to many hints. Storm has always been too big to just be an X-men and I think it high time they keep her in universal affairs and not confined to earth issues. So I'm hoping she continues to lead in her own way for long time.

Storm already awaken her godhead. Magneto himself can't stop her even if he tried. To see Storm cut loose at full power? I'm waiting for this ever since she was written. Just hope Magneto ain't stupid enough too challenge her leadership. They bump heads before, course he outright admitted if Storm cut loose, he'll die. One thing I'm trying too get over, Vulcan is already beyond Omega level, how the hell somebody like Thunderbird floor him with one punch???? Vulcan isn't beyond omega level all the extra energy he got from house of m has left him. Storm and vulcan will face off in the next issue of x-men red ewing said there will be very big fests especially for storm.

Plus, manipulating other mutants powers and absorbing energy nonstop can take him to beyond Omega level. Adam Warlock was scared sh_tless when he face him. Vulcan took Black Bolt blast point blank and return the favor too him. Even Gladiator had sense enough not to challenge him again. After getting lucky the first time. Vulcan can go beyond if he wanted too. For instances, homeboy had Cable right in front of him. He had the ability to manipulate, or siphon his psionic power's from him. Question is, how come he didn't? But, it seems like Vulcan doesn't understand the full capabilities of his own power's most of time's, most of the time, he underestimates himself. Sad part is, his brother Havoc surpass him, and he's alpha level mutant (could go Omega level).

He can be overwhelmed if he is distracted or taken by surprise hence why Thunderbird was able to beat him. And why polaris and havok could overwhelm him. Also the fight with adam was kinda not fair as adam was not willing to fight but rather wanted to talk to vulcan who was robbing him of power since they met. Now the upcoming battle with him and storm is something I will be seated for. I've had trouble getting behind many of the Hickman era X-titles (with Hellion & Marauders being possible exceptions), but I have some hope for this Brotherhood team and would like to see the likes of Frenzy, Callisto, and even Team X's Wraith included as I don't feel the normal play well with others X-Men will cut it. That being said I hope the writer can balance character building, action, and storyline as I feel it's been somewhat hit or miss with the linewide retooling of the X books.

Hi there! I just recently got into comics after reading the Jason Aaron Thor run, and I picked up a few of the current marvel runs so that I can follow them as they come out - one of which is X-Men Red. I’ve read all 4 issues that are out now, and I believe I’m following what’s going on. However I have no background info on how the characters in this run came to be where they are. Then at the end of every issue they are listing all of the other X-Men runs, should I also be reading those to understand what’s going on? I can’t seem to find any concise info online about this. Do you have a reading list on what I should read that leads up to the events in X-Men Red?
I'm cool with storm wanting a new brotherhood and out of any x men I believe store will keep magneto in check. Also I hope we get some mutant brother hood with new and different powers. The old school mutant were fine but I want something different maybe the skrull mutant or other worldly mutant.... A last surviving skrull eternal who's been hiding out or the discovery of as n ancient mars colony of survivers, different from the white and green martians from The DC verse but different .. unique. Give me something I can latch onto and grow with like I did with Rom and the Micro aughts. Anyway I love how every group in marvel is giving us a new path for each character not only the x men but all the way around. I'm loving seeing characters reinvented and stories in what if mode. A team of what 8 ppl at most is certainly A LOT different than leading an entire nation of hundreds of thousands. She never really wanted to rule over the Arakko people. But for Sol to work there needed to be a face and voice of it that everyone knew that people respected. An not just knew and respected on Earth but across the Marvel Universe. An that was Storm.

The very problem I have, ever since it’s introduced, is the Brotherhood team name. Why are there brothers and sisters of evil mutants forming under a name that simply is only for brother mutants? The generic team name that includes brothers, sisters, and sibling mutants of other orientations, would’ve been The Siblinghood of Mutants.

I honestly hate to see Storm as regent of mars because it’s not that different from her role as queen of Wakanda. Storm doesn’t need to be regent nor queen; she needs to be where the fighting is at. She’s always been an X-Man and her marriage to Black Panther did a good job of depowering her status and making her into a generic ruler who supports the ruling power of monarchs and Kings. Wakanda symboling everything that is wrong in a society. It’s separatist, selfish, and blindly follows a ruler who always chooses to lie and manipulated others. Black Panther did a good job of making Emma Frost more popular than Storm. Bring Storm back to the X-Men please! #FreeStormFromWakanda

Domino’s powers were explained on how it works but it also has a weakness…Isca doesn’t seem to have any because her powers allows her to analyze the battle and make a decision accordingly.
They both are warriors and fighters Storm has the will to not lose while Isca has the mutant ability to not lose unless exploited just like Callisto. So if you take away their mutant powers…who will win and who will lose…Storm battle with Tarn showed Isca that Storm is capable either way and that she is truly experienced without powers as she is with them. I’m not gonna lie…even if I was king…I would still be scared to fight someone who’s unbeatable and that is why the other Arakki have never challenged her because they are naive and Storm might just be cautious around her but Storm is not afraid if a challenge is offered by Isca.
It’s a shame No Name had to die so that Rogue, Sync, Hope and Mystique can continue to keep their shine cause No Name abilities really has no upper limits and reminds us of how much control and how deeply attuned Storm is with the elements Storm can only be harmed by the elements if she so chooses to be.

I WOULD like to see Proudstar get some serious character development that he was long overdue for.
Vulcan is just remembering and snapping back to his original, old self that we saw from War of Kings and Realm of Kings!
For the Arrakki to join n isolated group would most likely be against their law as a United people. Now Storm and Vulcan on one team would be beyond “enuff said” along with Sunspot and Frenzy who need to be explored as part of a team. And maybe if he’s Storm’s co-lead he can learn a new behavior cause on a planet of Omega Level Mutants there will have to have an Omega Level super team.
But because the “Brotherhood” basically always was an idealistic group of mutants who intentions was basically to stand up to their oppressers and transcend above weakness. So it won’t be a hero type team but a powerhouse team.
Storm will just become stagnant in the role of Queen of Arrakki so she can still be the voice of Sol while Isca gains more responsibility as the new Queen of the Arrakki mutants. Hopefully the team won’t be called “Brotherhood” or anything “X-Men”, maybe Omega Force or something.
Magneto needs to sit out and just simply do his own thing. Storm and Magneto are 2 of the same coin so there is no need for both of them. Maybe a stand in for Storm while her and the brotherhood go on adventure to other realms.
That way her powers can be explored more as far as mastering air pressure, magnetism, brain synapses, altered visions, increased defenses and/or a healing factor and semi-elemental forms as she’s done with her clothes and hair. Storm and Vulcan can already fly in space on their own and I believe this is their time be it solo, duo or group adventures.
Storm’s power levels are still pale in comparison to other Omegas. Although she’s currently“on par with the Phoenix” it needs to be witnessed. . I believe Isca can take the temporary role or stand in position of Regent if not Magneto.
I love seeing storm doing great things. Abbigail brand is playing a dangerous game and would love to see storm and arrako foil whatever she has up her sneaky sleeves

Mutants have a physiology that's different from humans. So even though Fisher King may not have 'powers' the way we normally think of it, his physical form can be stronger, swifter, than humans.
On the rebirth could made Wanda be a mutant... there is a precedent for humans (or other) becoming mutants.
Sinister - used mutant DNA to alter a clone he was reborn as, so this current Sinister is a mutant.

Blerd, I do have to argue with your comment of saying Brand is half-mutant. There is no halfway for mutants they are a mutant or not a mutant.
I know you were talking about her father being of a unknown alien race while her mom was human. But that does not make her "half mutant", it makes her half-Earther.
A better way to say is that Brand is a hybrid mutant, = half-Earther/Half-alien.
And unforntuately for Brand, she's not unique there. There are several other hybrid mutants, even on Krakoa. Off the top of my head there's Lifeguard and her brother who are half-Earther/half-Shi'ar

As far as the thing with Vulcan, Sway, and Petra. Hickman recently revealed that they were supposed to be a figment of Vulcan's imagination. Unfortunately in that issue there was a printing error where Havok acknowledged them...so yeah. LOL.

I like Storm, Magneto and Sunspot teaming up but for some reason I think I would have been overly satisfied if it was Jubilee instead of Sunspot. Far fetched for some..I just feel Jubilee could represent the innocents, home and reminiscent for Storm in relation to this first issue of her battling her new position within herself, and If she is doing the right thing and her eager to lead in other ways than from the throne. I honestly feel like her time as Queen is going to be amazing but short lived. I just have that feeling because the X-men, BP, Wakanda and others is family and friends for her and I believe that is something Storm has always needed. Though I want her to be Regent for a very long time. Magneto is too much in the picture and though he resigned from Quiet Council and making home on Arrako and now Storm thought of a team in relation to his old team, this may be the boost he needs again. What I see is them eventually making Magneto leader of Mars with Storm giving the position to him so she can return home. I don't want that to happen but there seems to be to many hints. Storm has always been too big to just be an X-men and I think it high time they keep her in universal affairs and not confined to earth issues. So I'm hoping she continues to lead in her own way for long time.

Plus, manipulating other mutants powers and absorbing energy nonstop can take him to beyond Omega level. Adam Warlock was scared sh_tless when he face him. Vulcan took Black Bolt blast point blank and return the favor too him. Even Gladiator had sense enough not to challenge him again. After getting lucky the first time. Vulcan can go beyond if he wanted too. For instances, homeboy had Cable right in front of him. He had the ability to manipulate, or siphon his psionic power's from him. Question is, how come he didn't? But, it seems like Vulcan doesn't understand the full capabilities of his own power's most of time's, most of the time, he underestimates himself. Sad part is, his brother Havoc surpass him, and he's alpha level mutant (could go Omega level).

Also yes Vulcan is insane with his abilities but in the end he needs to concentrate to do his thing. He can be overwhelmed if he is distracted or taken by surprise hence why Thunderbird was able to beat him. And why polaris and havok could overwhelm him.
Also the fight with adam was kinda not fair as adam was not willing to fight but rather wanted to talk to vulcan who was robbing him of power since they met. Impressive but still not fair as adam was not even willing to fight after vulcan attacked him.

I like to think that the X transcends Xavier. The X is for mystery, for being outside, for power (and after all, in the real world, Xavier was probably named after the X-Men rather than the other way round)

I've had trouble getting behind many of the Hickman era X-titles (with Hellion & Marauders being possible exceptions), but I have some hope for this Brotherhood team and would like to see the likes of Frenzy, Callisto, and even Team X's Wraith included as I don't feel the normal play well with others X-Men will cut it. That being said I hope the writer can balance character building, action, and storyline as I feel it's been somewhat hit or miss with the linewide retooling of the X books.

I just recently got into comics after reading the Jason Aaron Thor run, and I picked up a few of the current marvel runs so that I can follow them as they come out - one of which is X-Men Red. I’ve read all 4 issues that are out now, and I believe I’m following what’s going on. However I have no background info on how the characters in this run came to be where they are. Then at the end of every issue they are listing all of the other X-Men runs, should I also be reading those to understand what’s going on? I can’t seem to find any concise info online about this. Do you have a reading list on what I should read that leads up to the events in X-Men Red?

I'm cool with storm wanting a new brotherhood and out of any x men I believe store will keep magneto in check. Also I hope we get some mutant brother hood with new and different powers. The old school mutant were fine but I want something different maybe the skrull mutant or other worldly mutant.... A last surviving skrull eternal who's been hiding out or the discovery of as n ancient mars colony of survivers, different from the white and green martians from The DC verse but different .. unique. Give me something I can latch onto and grow with like I did with Rom and the Micro aughts. Anyway I love how every group in marvel is giving us a new path for each character not only the x men but all the way around. I'm loving seeing characters reinvented and stories in what if mode. Thank you writers and artist

A team of what 8 ppl at most is certainly A LOT different than leading an entire nation of hundreds of thousands. She never really wanted to rule over the Arakko people. But for Sol to work there needed to be a face and voice of it that everyone knew that people respected. An not just knew and respected on Earth but across the Marvel Universe. An that was Storm.

The very problem I have, ever since it’s introduced, is the Brotherhood team name. Why are there brothers and sisters of evil mutants forming under a name that simply is only for brother mutants? The generic team name that includes brothers, sisters, and sibling mutants of other orientations, would’ve been The Siblinghood of Mutants.

I honestly hate to see Storm as regent of mars because it’s not that different from her role as queen of Wakanda. Storm doesn’t need to be regent nor queen; she needs to be where the fighting is at. She’s always been an X-Man and her marriage to Black Panther did a good job of depowering her status and making her into a generic ruler who supports the ruling power of monarchs and Kings. Wakanda symboling everything that is wrong in a society. It’s separatist, selfish, and blindly follows a ruler who always chooses to lie and manipulated others. Black Panther did a good job of making Emma Frost more popular than Storm. Bring Storm back to the X-Men please!
