You're playing (slightly) wrong. You don't roll the dice shown on the city you're on, you roll the dice shown on the next city. The thematic reason for this is that it is not the cities themselves that are dangerous (as Adam says) but instead the routes between them.
This is also why you'd want to jump off at the first city (because you may not believe the captain can make it to the second city) and why there's dice shown on the final city (which, by NRB's rules, are redundant, as there is no further city to go to)
I was wondering what was wrong, because I distantly recall rolling for the first island when I played Celestia online awhile ago. This makes total sense!
I logically figured this out without playing the game. It doesn't make sense to waste everyone's time and captain seat with a non-decision phase. Adam keeps trying to justify it but it makes no sense to not jump off at 2nd if that's the case.
Yes that is correct. It is suprising how often you can crash on that first island with depleted hands and an unlucky roll.

That makes a lot of sense cos the 1st part of every round was totally redundant.

12:23 I love it when the camera is fixed on Laurie while another character is trying to bluff, because you can see how while everyone else is joking around and looking back and forth, Laurie’s eyes are practically *fixed* on the character preparing their bluff. And you can see the calculations and analysis going on in the sharpness his eyes. If you’ve watched previous videos like Quest, you know Laurie’s social deduction skills are absolutely off the charts. 🧐😏
I feel Laurie's pain in those first few rounds. He actually should have been rolling dice to get to the 2nd location. Slight rules issue.
Not a big deal though, unless you're Laurie :)
I know they are busy, but bluffing games are not the same without the cool, calm and collected energy of Rosie and Jon.
calm and collected definitely sounds like Jon but ROSIE? If you havent seen them play the mafia game i highly reccomend it lol Rosie is the opposite of those in that game 🤣

Great video! Love Celestia, it's a great game and ideal for trying to get non-board gamers into the hobby. Couple of things for people wanting to play the game and learning the rules:
1) The captain declaring whether they can beat the obstacles or not isn't in the rules of the game, I think NRB have made this a house rule for extra spice. In a normal game, the captain rolls the dice and then the passengers decide whether or not to stay on with no input from the captain. Personally I think the game plays better when the captain doesn't give any information away, but its more fun watching the game played with the extra meta of "am I lying?" so can see why they've done it for the video.
2) NRB seem to be rolling the number of dice shown on the City the airship is currently at. You are supposed to roll the number of dice shown on the City you are trying to get to. This means on the journey from the first City to the second, you should roll one die (and not zero like they do in the video). There is never a situation in the game where the captain doesn't roll at least one die.
How many people has Dom declared never-ending furious revenge against at this point?

Loooooved binge-watching all the vids on this channel last year. It's a shame when i eventually caught up but always look forward to Tuesdays and Saturdays.
I thought you had to roll the dice of the island you are going to. If so, wouldn't that mean that Laurie would have to roll before everyone makes a decision at the first island?

Everyone just seemed to have so much fun with this game! I love this game, the art alone is gorgeous! But the gameplay is light and fun too.

Took me a while, but the voice that Blair is using for her old man is *exactly* the voice used by (Winona Ryder?) to portray Bjork in an episode of Celebrity Jeopardy from the days when SNL was even vaguely good.

Yeah, the carrot thing was in the Mean Girls video. That video is gonna get rewatched at some point cos i love those kinds of NRB vids.

Watching the blood on the clock tower episodes have been on my list for a while. in this episode they just said that they spend 37k per episode? That either means they are being pretty greedy, spending the money poorly, or the episodes are insanely good.
What kind of ship has a rotating captaincy? Let alone a new captain at EVERY port of call? No wonder this ship is constantly on the brink of crashing.
Having only played this on Board Game Arena, I had no idea the physical game had a little boat to put your player pieces in. How delightful!

53:35 I like how Adam rolled the dice just to see what he would have got. It made me think of a game of Yahtzee i lost the other month where all i needed was one 5 on my last turn. Took my 3 turns and got none. I sat there like "wtf?" for about 30 seconds.... then i rolled the 5 dice and got at least one 5 in the next six rolls or so.
You guys should do a playthrough of Obsession victorian era costumes... would be fun

Rules: the rulebook states that the Captain declares if they can/cannot reach the island, after, the other passengers choose to stay or not. Your way of playing is probably better because it adds deception elements to the game.

Don't know if I'd like this more than Incan Gold - seems a bit more clunky, but never played it live and that would probably matter.

I own and prefer "Cloud 9". Much better "press their luck" game. Easier to understand and play, and it has a cool-looking ship (hot air balloon) as well.
