Probably one of the best title games in recent memory. Overtime, two teams fighting for their first title, what more could you ask for. Feel bad for Texas Tech but they had a fantastic season and should be back next year.

Highlights of their natty will include the double dribble against Auburn. Sad for them. Sadder for Auburn. And no, I’m not an Auburn fan either.
There was so many clutch shots in this game by both squads, this was one of my favorite title games in years!!

Virginia was humbled last year and this year they were graceful winners! Two great teams! It was refreshing to see Texas Tech make it. And not the usual teams that are there year after year.
WOW what an amazing game to watch, everyone played so well.
Congratulations Virginia Cavaliers. Overcoming the embarrassment of the loss to UMBC last year by going all the way to win the national championship. Texas Tech also deserves recognition, they beat some good teams to get to the final game.
so the way to win the NCAA tournament is to lose when your a 1 seed to a 16 seed and then come back the next year and win it all, taking notes right now

This one was one of the all-time great national title games in recent memory. Both teams were evenly matched, it came down to who has the mental-toughness to will themselves to victory. De'Andre Hunter really showed up in 2nd Half and OT with 22. Texas Tech has had a very spectacular season. Chris Beard, a AP Coach of the year, well deserved. He's a good coach and his team fought till the end. But a huge, huge congratulations to Tony Bennett and the Virginia Cavaliers. Last Year, they didn't have Hunter in the game and gave edged by UMBC. This Year, De'Andre's healthy, they fought some tough games in the ACC and the tournament, and as a result, they won it all. Congrats Virginia, 2019 National Champions

Ali A Texas Tech was doing a LOT of fouling that wasn’t called. Virginia ended up with 3 more personal fouls than TT while, subjectively, it seemed like TT committed more.

I just looked at Virginia's recruiting class over the last 5 years and they haven't recruited a single 5 star player manly 4 and 3 star players maybe programs like Duke, North Carolina Kentucky and my Kansas Jayhawks can take note. One and dones don't get you to the national Championship games. it's upperclassmen and I can't wait until next year where high schoolers can go straight to the NBA. That way the players that really want to go to college can go to college and experience college basketball.
Um UNC has known that for years. All of our titles came from the backs up upper classmen. Carolina so far has only 1 maybe 2 five stars comn in next year. We are like 25th in recruiting. Dean Smith knew that and so does Roy Williams. 4 year Experience is always better than 1 year talent any day. That's why 5 star freshman don't want to come to UNC because they know they'll prob set the bench. Not a fan of the cocky 1 and dones. But i didn't know they were gonna change the rule again.
They also don’t have a single ball player from Virginia. Why is that? No athletes in Virginia? Not downing them. Just wondering.

One of the top 5 national championships I seen in a very long time, 2 teams in the championship for their first time and what an awesome performance, Kudos to Texas Tech for their effort and congrats to Virginia for their strong performance. We need more national games like this one in the future
My 35 year wait is over..so glad I'm still around to witness this after all the years and decades of watching our neighbors to the south bring home titles, UVA can finally add "2019 NCAA Division 1 National Champs" to its resume, congrats to all the Hoos players and assistants and to Coach Tony Bennett, the best looking coach in college basketball...

Yea if Culver would have played better they could have maybe won, but Virginia was hitting their shots late.
Honestly think mooney should have been more aggresive offensively this game. He should have been the one taking shots with the shot clock running down, not culver
@@CARx_2 Yeah I feel like he settled for the three when he should've went for the layup or an outlet pass to Moretti who was wide open with 4 seconds left, Moretti has been deadly from 3 all season (45-46% I think). I can't blame him for that though, we all see ourselves hitting that game winner on a big stage, but like you said that might've cost them the game.

Came back to watch these highlights a year later, and Jarrett Culver really sold the bag. He tried to play hero too much and really should’ve fed Mooney and Moretti
What a tournament! No real favorites in the end but they sure gave a show👊 Texas Tech had the toughest road, 2 #1's and 2 #2's since the sweet 16.

It wasn't a great tournament, just a great tittle game. Although......I did have Virginia beating Gonzaga in the title game, it would have been nice to see some of the more prominent teams go up against each other.
@@astralmindny9055 How was this not a great tournament? There were so many great competitive games throughout the entire tourney. Best tournament I've seen in a very long time. The prominent teams are the ones who make it through the fire in the NCAA tournament, the teams who were supposed to play each other played each other. Coming from (weirdly enough) a home-bred UVA fan and a long time Gonzaga supporter.

@@CARx_2 #5 Auburn and the #3 Red Raiders both took the Cavaliers to the end of each. Virginia sure earned that trophy and their #1.

I think the reason is because it is the final 4 MOP in all, combining the 2 games rather than just the National Championship alone. Guy had a better performance over the course of the 2 games.

Overall best tournament and championship game I’ve witnessed so many close games , and Virginia fans had some close calls all tournament long Congrats to the Cavaliers , and it’s gonna be a shame if espn not covering this for the next two days , I wish a new network would come and talk about topics that are interesting so many good coaches and other great players , i don’t know why they don’t understand that people don’t care to hear about the Lakers and duke all day

After saying all that, the Cavaliers deserve a major SHOUTOUT not only for winning yesterday but staying the course to reach their goal! They more than kept their focus despite the odds thrown at them from 2018! And kudos to Tony Bennett one of, and he's right at the top, the classiest men we have in our sport! Outside of Coach K, I've never been happier than in recent yrs watching Jay Wright and now Bennett win a crown! They belong having national titles on their respective resumes!

They didn't want to show Virginia getting 14 free shots in the overtime. That was the difference in the game. ACC teams always get the close calls in close games.

@@genebull3837 10/14 came within the last 41 seconds. First two on jerome drive to the basket where his arm was slapped hard. The 8 after were intentional fouls. The one bad call came with UVA down by 3 and plenty of time left in OT for the game to go on. UVA still had to make them too...

Virginia and Villanova prove the method to win titles is to recruit players so intend to graduate. I'm glad the one and done Duke got knocked out.
And play defense also! When Duke won in 2015 they ratcheted up their defense when it mattered most and since then it has disappeared! It's not overstated or even stated that often - u need to play both ends of the floor to win in March
It's not all, but majority of the one and dones no matter the school are more worried about padding their stats than having a complete game! NBA is an offensive league now, so they figure they don't need to be sound defensively! But u hafta play D to an extent in college or you'll end up watching the FF at home

@spence Don't underestimate Chris Beard! He's not that profound line u speak of! Not the rule, he's an exception! He lost his top 5 scorers from '18 Elite 8 team and they went further! He took a sixth man (Culver) and molded him into an NBA lottery steal! The man can flat-out coach! So u might wanna tread lightly before assuming in this instance JS!
Oh and he also took Ark Little Rock to a 30-win season and a NCAA win over a very good Purdue team! Thought I'd throw that in for good measure!

Culver lost tech the game. Offensively and defensively. And it was a great game til he played the last 2 min. Imo he shouldnt play another game of basketball if hes gonna play like that

As has been the norm since the title game, very little credit to the Cavaliers suffocating defense! Culver was 5-22 from the field, not the free throw line! Virginia hounded him all evening, and if u had watched closely, u'd have recognized that! He had very few, if any, open looks! Give UVa at least some credit!

@Di Vepets im not saying go for the three every time. but it makes no sense to complain about teams taking open three point shots
The 3 pointers have a boundaries that players can practice over and over from. Midrange has infinite variables. Basketball as whole found a more efficient way to score once the old guard retired and forward thinkers entered coaching and management.
It's ridiculous!! Even though Zion is a big man whose box office, I doubt he's the best player in the draft, but he'll be the number one overall pick. I dunt think he's in the top 3 honestly.
Kang Kim And yet games don’t seem to be any higher scoring. Looking back at finals in the 1960s and 70s they were consistently in the 80s and 90s PPG for the winners. In the final game the guards scored most of the points. I think back then forwards and centers scored more points than they do now for a better balance.
Even though I’m a Texas Tech fan, I have to say that this was one of the greatest championship games in the past few years. What hurt Texas Tech in this game were two 3-pointers by Virginia at two specific points. The first one was at the end of the first half when the Cavaliers hit the 3-pointer to go up 32-29. The second one was towards the end of the game when Hunter hit the 3 to tie game and sent it to overtime.
Clemson in football and now Virginia in basketball. Go ACC.
