He was my friend... when I was wanting to fight, I asked Evan what he thought of various places to go train at, and asked him his advice on meals, how to train, etc... and sure enough, he helped me out tremendously. I put that part of my life behind me now, but when I heard he had died in 2008, and heard who it was, I was in tears. He was a mentor to me, a great, loyal friend, and somebody who is irreplaceable. I'll always remember the advice he gave me and will never forgot my friend.
If there was a UFC fighter that was a warrior but also humble and calm, it's Evan Tanner. Total class act.
Here's someone I NEVER met, but I miss him as much as I'd miss a brother, he had his share of faults sure but the guy just put out so much positivity and love. Evan we miss you brother!
It is beyond me how ANYONE could dislike this video, or Evan Tanner in general. RIP TEAM TANNER!
I live in a small town in Edgewood and my neighbor died a couple of months ago. His name was Robert Tanner and he was Evans father. He talked so highly of Evan and he was really proud of him. He seemed like an amazing individual
I saw Evan Tanner at Mandalay bay the night he won the belt- he was still wearing it as he took pictures with fans. The smile on his face was priceless.
This is one of the few things that acctually makes my eyes tear up..
those 6 who dislike this were referring to Chael Sonnen's comment......I don't see any other logical explanation.....RiP Evan Tanner....U left us great moments in mma..thank you
02/11/1971 Happy Birthday and RIP Evan Tanner, the MMA community still misses you
RIP Evan. You've been one of my favorites since I discovered modern MMA in 2001. A true free spirit, a rebel, a human, a champion.
I cry every time I watch this! Still remember him
You were a great man, believed in the power of one, you faced the demons. but the heart were always intact, and never faded."
Rip
My hero
Thumbs up for Tanner, where ever you are buddy, we will always miss you
This is random, I was surfing the Net tonight looking for info on Evan Tanner. I met him at an event and followed his career. I am pleased that this documentory is in effect. I believe he truely was a great fighter, mentor, intellectual, spiritualist, and good person.
I've watched this like 100 times now.
I can't wait for the documentary. Just watching some of Evans interviews inspire me so much. This trailer does also.
Oh man this is such an awesome idea, Evan Tanner really needs his story to be out there.
Evan Tanner is the sole reason I got in to MMA. He is for me personally the Biggy and Tupac of MMA. Was he the best no but if it weren't for him I wouldn't be as huge of a fight fan as I am and I would have the dream to have Dana White give me just one chance to fight in the UFC. So thank you Evan for inspiring my life.
that look after he says he can change the world... it gets me very time. what an amazing guy
I've seen this movie twice already, and could watch it a million times. Amazing. Truly inspirational and one of the greatest things I've ever watched.
This...make me cry. Again like 4 year ago. Thank you. :)
I'm a 19 year old guy, and I feel no embarrassment in saying that I'll likely cry watching this. A terrific human being that will definitely be missed.
I feel really bad for Evan, but it's worse for us, because today you can't find people like him, a great human being, a believer, someone who was looking for the meaning of life, with a genuine philosophy about the power of your actions and the most important, the power of faith, God bless you Evan and thanks for that simple but powerful advice, BELIEVE.
You did change the world brother.... One person at a time. R.I.P
I'm going to watch this, even if it's alone, but I am inviting people to this in LA. Next month. The voice needs to be heard. The voice of a man that believed he could make a change. Didn't matter if it was a little or big change, he was out there to make it happen.
SUCH a pleasure to be even just a tiny bit involved with this movie. Cannot wait for it's release & to see the whole thing!
I never had the fortune of watching this man fight. I am a huge fan. I really like his philosophies. He is an inspiration and a hero. RIP Evan Tanner.
Evan was one of my favorite
R.I.P. EVAN TANNER .. Some people are just too good for this world , i think he really changed the world starting with those children and now with all of us viewing this video he's just a Difference Maker .. Believe in him you can be the change
when chael sonnen talks good about a person, you know that person is a really good person.
Evan Tanner was a great guy. I was a fan since the beginning.
A true fighter in all aspects of life. Lost a bit towards the end but had a great style to watch, peaked winning the belt and a lions heart. This documentary will be sad but a must watch. RIP Tanner.
absolutely wonderful that Evan is receiving this attention. i was personally upset that he was allowed to pass so quietly without much notice by the UFC , or perhaps i just missed it, who knows. my thoughts on Evan was he wasn't in it just to win, he was in it just to do it. you knew you would see a man go all in, give his best because that was all he knew. win or lose he always had my respect, and presented himself with class. R.I.P. Champ
RIP Evan. We all lost something special the day we lost you.
Thumbs up for Evan Tanner! A true pioneer of Mixed Martial Arts, and a warrior to look up to in life in general. We miss you Evan!!! Can't wait for the documentary to be released!
Tears to my eyes watching this. Evan had a devoted fan-base, no matter if he would win or lose, because he was an incredible human being. I was one of those fans, and still am. Cannot wait to see this.
RIP Evan. Your contributions to this sport will never be forgotten.
Just watched this a few days ago, Tanner was so true a real person. He had his short comings like us all but he knew what life was about not materialistic things but the friendships and experiences along the way. I know he is at peace. Thank you for making this film! A must see!
what a hero, RIP Evan Tanner.
one of the GOAT, he was a great fighter and champion.
His success in the ufc, pancrase, and the unified shoot wrestling federation, will always be remembered. Personally, i think he would ahve given silva a major test.
R.I.P. Evan Tanner.
Heartbreaking, still can't believe he's gone :'(
The guy who got me into MMA. It seems silly to say, I never met him or knew him, but I miss him.
Kirk...I look forward to seeing it. Sad and inspirational at the same time.
As i sit here watching this three minute video that has undoubtitly changed my life with a tear rolling down my cheeck. I realise, it doesnt matter what you have or how good you are doing for yourself. What matters is what you do for other people and how you help people less fortunit than you.
great story, great man.
this guy made me hooked watching mma . first mma fight i saw was him and david terrell.
sad story. great guy.down to earth.
RIP Evan. Thank you.
RIP Evan Tanner. Let me also add @ 2:11 Those are the most beautiful eyes I have seen in a while.
this looks like its gonna be a heart wrenching movie, such a sad story
God, I could hardly hold it together watching this...
man, i still remember reading the spike blogs, about him planning his trip to the dessert. no way he was planning on not coming back.
BELIEVE!
R.I.P Evan, a true inspiration.
just finished watching and man what a roller coaster ride his life was. and also what an amazing person he was. RIP
EVAN TANNER!!!! R.I.P brother we will miss you
He was going to be my trainer... I told him I wouldn't let him down... and I wouldn't have... R.I.P
Evan was a great fighter and amazing human being, can't wait to see the full movie, RIP.
“One of the ultimate things a human can learn is kindness for their fellow humans.”
-Evan Tanner
We miss you Evan
Jesus, you just had me tearing from this trailer.
God bless your soul, Evan. I can't wait for this film to be released.
Man, even the damn trailer makes me bawl like a baby.
Wow, there seems to be something with Evan Tanner that we all connect with.
I'm glad they made a documentary about him
R.I.P. Evan :(
Wow, thank you for making this, Evan deserves it.
Damn, I just teared up. I can take a broken rib, busted toe, but this just got to me. Rest in peace Evan. You will be missed.
RIP Evan Tanner, one of the most under-appreciated competitors the sport has ever known
I got to train with him before his fight with Terrell. Awesome guy, can't wait to see this.
I've been wanting to see this since I heard they were making a documentary almost 3 years ago. My dad and I bought our tickets and we're going to the world premiere. Its gonna be
amazing
If all Americans were as deep thinking as that guy, we wouldn't have many of todays world's problems.
R.I.P Evan Tanner.
I cannot wait to see this, so glad that they have honored Evan like this. He wasn't the greatest fighter we have seen, but he was a great man, and that came from his attitude and how he tried to live his life. Believe.
And I don't take offense to what Chael had to say, I didn't see much difference to what he said than what the guy said about telling Evan to come back and see them when he was healthy. Chael was just giving his opinion that Evan was not in a healthy mental state, and I agree.
Rest in Love brother...We miss you. As I watched this I couldn't hold back my emotions from getting the best of me. You are, as you always will be, an inspiration to others in the community and the world. Thank you for that. =)
Rest in Peace, Evan Tanner!
I dont often get goosebumps... Got this now...
Thats beautiful .... MMA is a truly great sport.
Finally... a release date come. 28th December. A well done Christmast present for us.
I will definitely be catching this on the 28th! Believe in the power of One!
I cried watching this because Evan was such a great guy. He's one of my inspirations for even starting to get into judo and juijutsu and just trying to do what I want which is to fight. I hope there are others like me that Evan has inspired so much, and though I'm an atheist, there is no certainty of the absence of a God, so I hope he's in some sort of a better place
When I found out about Evan Tanner's death it broke me. But he was trying to reach to the world and he did. This documentary they are going to make is something he deserved and the impact he had in and out of the ring is what made him a real champion.
I'm proud to say I go to Caprock his high school in Amarillo Texas I look up n see his name almost everyday n I jus think I'm in his shadow I have a lot to live up to being on his sport, team, and school
Sometimes I come back to this video just to get some inspiration.
No problem. I don't know why they edited it that way. I've heard Chael say in interviews that Tanner was one of the few people he liked in MMA. Both were team quest members, btw.
Evan was a great man!
If i dont cry at least once when i watch this i will be surprised.
A great human being
Looks Amazing! I'm sure his immortalization through this film will do Evan Tanner a great justice.
Rest in peace, Evan.
Evan was a True Champion and is missed....
It was a great loss of a great man. Though i can't say i knew him personally i was a fan, and i can remember my shock to hear about his death. Its a shame how all the good ones seem to go.
@helenpatiencepiano and @onceiwasachampion......thanks so much and I'm looking forward to this amazing movie and film score!
Awesome. Just awesome.
Just when I needed it. Thank you. Thank you so much. :)
The Power Of One.
wow.....that was pretty emotional
I've heard the reason they didn't immeadiately when it was put together is because of some of the content controversies...however it's a go....I can understand them wanting to respect certain aspects of someone's life but at the same time I think that every aspect that could be told about Evan Tanner needs to be told.He was a great philosopher, philanthropist, but he was also human.
happpy bday evan
Awsome work I got chills.
I miss you, my dear friend.
Awesome story.
I have a lot of respect for Chael Sonnen and Forrest Griffin. No bullshit from those guys. Screw the haters who can't stand the truth.
RIP Legend.
Can't wait!!!
This looks incredible.
to everyone asking this aired at the LA Film festival on June 18th 2011. No one knows when he DVD will be realeased
chael has been fighting since I was in highschool, im 30years old. He didnt go from nothin to where he is over night. He has been in the pro mma game for a while. Hes in his prime and has a deadly ground game is why he is where he is. He almost beat the best in the world at his weight, thats what got him where hes at. Not cause hes calling Anderson names. If he was just another big mouth without skills, his mouth wouldnt have gotten him anywhere. Opposite of a fighter like an Evan Tanner.
