    I wonder if Cameron's dad had a similar reaction when he came home and found his car completely wrecked...

      Cameron’s dad shot him. That’s why there was no sequel because Ferris fell into a deep depression.

    I'm not sure why the amount of miles would matter to Cameron. Given his dad's personality, even if it were only 10 miles, his dad would lose his mind. Once that car left the house, his fate was sealed.

      Graduating age for high school in 1986 was 18 years old. Matthew Broderick was 24, Alan Ruck was 30, and Mia Sara was 19. Garth Volbeck (Charlie Sheen) was 21 and the character was considered by the movie script as a dropout.

      In the US kids take driver's Ed their junior year and get their license that way. At 16, if you have your license, you can drive.

    I love this....how could they drive 48000 miles in one day?

    • @RoboFrog42
      @RoboFrog42 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      top odometer is total miles in total, bottom is for Trip A/B odometer which shows total miles driven since activated

    • @georgehenderson7783
      @georgehenderson7783 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RoboFrog42 This is what doesn't make sense. Cameron said the mileage was 126 and halfway between 3 and 4 tenths. Now it reads 48,151 and 6 tenths with the trip odometer at 232 and 3 tenths.
      The suburb they drove from is only like 20 miles but with the garage guys driving it around for probably a good hour or so I can see where the trip odometer could be 232 but how could the main odometer read over 48,000 if it was only 126 when they started out?

    • @arekpetrosian4965
      @arekpetrosian4965 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@georgehenderson7783Dude...the TRIP odometer read 126, not the total miles on the car.

    • @georgehenderson7783
      @georgehenderson7783 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@arekpetrosian4965 Sorry, dude, had a brain fart, haha, should have realized that the trip odometer should read around 20 or 30 miles including picking up Sloane, not 234. But this brings up another question. Before they started out Cameron said that his father knows the mileage. So even if they just drove around the block his father would know that it was driven the next time he checked the mileage. Ferris didn't get the flawed idea of taking off the mileage by running the car in reverse on jacks until later.

    • @arekpetrosian4965
      @arekpetrosian4965 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@georgehenderson7783 Yup...that was a big goof in the movie. If they did just drive it around the block, like you say, Cam's father would know. So...what was Ferris' plan for even 10 miles? Before they take off in the car, Ferris says, "Whatever miles we put on, we'll take off." Cameron asks "How?" and the answer is..."We'll drive home backwards."
      Pretty sure even a high school student knows that THAT is not going to work.
