    Seeing a Jones board not make the top 5, feels like watching Jermy Jones face planting and seeing the bottom of Cushing Pond.

    Amplid Singular is my all mountain freeride board choice for this winter so its nice to also see it on your list! 179cm , 88kg advanced rider so picked up the 162 for a little extra float in the good stuff!

    Good to see the Berserker hanging in there on this list. Going into my second season with mine after a strong recommendation from Angry. It got me back out on the mountain and it's been awesome. Definitely intrigued by the Snowboard of Death down the line.

    Looking at capita black or k2 passport. I’m 5’7”, 162 pounds, advanced rider with boot size 10 or 10.5. I rode a 154 k2 parkstar 8 years, then a 152 Gnu Mullair the last 5 but my toes occasionally drag when I’m leaned over with it. Do you have a size recommendation? Have you compared the capita black to capita kazu?

    How is the Singular edge hold for carving and getting the edge in on icy hard pack days, compared to the BSOD ? Also is the Singular more forgiving than the bsod if conditions are sketchy, eg, rutted rock hard off piste, or icy conditions, and probably better for the soft slucshy runs home late season ?

    • @AngrySnowboarder
      @AngrySnowboarder  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They're about the same in terms of flex so the forgiveness is comparable. The difference in edge hold is there if you keep them maintained. I think the Singular locks in better and has more power out of the tail but the edge to edge transmission is easier on the BSOD.

      TLDR: Got a advanced board and loved it. Pretty hard to get used to.
      I rode 3+ seasons on an old issued rental board and could get down most blues and some freshly groomed black trails. I decided last season to get a black snowboard of death the 2021 version and really enjoyed it. I was worried I wouldn't like it, but even though it put me down a couple times for not respecting the board, I still enjoyed how much it had to teach me. It's STILL teaching me. It was a great experience growing into something I knew was too capable for my riding level. I started slow though and didn't take many risks so it took me most of the season to get used to it. Now pretty comfortable on tight blacks and some gentile double blacks.

    Thanks Angry love your work. I know I have a lot of board crossover and am hanging out for your full peace seeker review. A 155cm is available at a small discount here in NZ $900 NZ dollars I am much the same size as you except size 11.5 boot and am currently riding a 157 dancehaul, 160 super 8, 162 skeleton key and haven’t had the conditions to ride a custom x 158w or a Korua cafe racer 164 or a 163 deep thinker. If a get a third of the days you get I would be stoked and now the kids have left home I am focused on chasing waves and snow full time. At 54 I mainly try to carve as hard as I can and having the best equipment available to assist me is a priority and both my sons can use my boards as well as they advance. My long winded question please is do you think It would be worthwhile getting a peace seeker and perhaps selling any other boards? Thank you I greatly value your experience and really appreciate your thoughts and guidance.

    Hello and thanks ! I ve been snowboarding with used sh*t gear for 20+years because i was poor and young … Finally now i m a dad , less active and less in shape but i get to buy something « good » , im leaning for a « all mountain freeride » to casually enjoy groom ski resorts , the view , the feel : hopefully practice some carving and buttering along the way… i m more of a laid back 6foot guy and i also enjoy cutting in powder on the sides or just pure backcountry once in a while .. but mostly on groomed sometime icy terrain ( because here on the east the snow is often less good - tho i sometime ride in the alps too) … i m still not 100% of what to get : any suggestions ? Eventho my lvl is « advanced » i never took the time to learn about boards and i only used what i could cheaply get ..so im not quite sure what im supposed to look for … im a total noob : i m not evensure if the bindings really do much difference i actually rode few season on broken binding and still managed lol ! In fact im flabbergasted when i see people with luxury new gear all around yet clearly dont know how to ride… also is 2023 board really important or a 2022 good too ? I heard of proto fr and lib orca or something too

Just got last years Passport as it’s so much cheaper than buying this years (and it’s the same board). Having ridden a lot of boards over my 35 years of riding I appreciate the reviews you’ve provided on the passport, which hasn’t gotten much attention overall, yet. I’ll update when I’ve ridden it a bit. FYI I am planning on riding an old Skeleton key on dawn patrols that I know will only be for a couple hours and look to the passport for all other sessions. Stay tuned……

It's cheaper than most premium board like any Jones Never Summer or Burton and yet in a lot of ways it rides just as good in some ways and in a lot of ways better even. Holds an edge very well as most camber boards do and it is damp enough in the right spots to help you keep that edge through soft snow and chunder as well. I am retiring my NS Proto and looking for a board that is good in the trees as I spend a lot of time in their when out west, stable at decent speeds, carves well but I can also take little side hits on a groomer and “slight butter.” You mention the flagship in this one, does that seem like the route to go for those needs? Thanks for these great videos.

    • @AngrySnowboarder

      What you're ideally looking for in the trees is something with a ton of torsional flex so you can be quick with your ankle steering. Flagship wouldn't be my first choice, especially knowing you came off that turd the Proto. I'd instead be looking at something like a Salomon Sick Stick or comparable.

    Avran,
    Love your reviews. I have been all mountain freestyle riding for the the past several years and want to get faster and better at carving. I am probably advanced intermediate and currently have a 18/19 Bataleon Whatever and 20/21 Never Summer Protosynthesis. I don't really ride switch (maybe 10% mostly coming out of jumps) and try to jump off everything. These boards at speed (40+ mph) feel like they are going to fall apart. I am looking to move to a freeride board to go faster and harder but I still want to be able to hit the trees and have something a bit playful off natural features. I am 5'10 170lbs size 9. I have Burton Cartel Re:Flex bindings and Adidas Response 3MC boots. What board and size would you suggest?

    Hey Avran, thanks for all the info you put out. I have watched quite a few of your videos. Your channel is a great resource. So last year I bought a Capita Mercury thinking I wanted a general all mountain board and wasn’t too happy with it. It allowed me to carve really well and it was fast, but I felt like the turn initiation was slow, just didn’t feel like the responsiveness was there like the Ejack Knife that I started out on. After three days I picked up an Ultra Mountain Twin and it felt way better, but it’s carving capability is pretty limited as you pointed out in your review.
