    The calmness of your voice drew me in and made me feel safe and it felt good watching you void your warranty. It’s ok no one uses the warranty anyway.

    Great video, really helped me figure out the wiring in my hoist without having to take it apart. Seems like a sketchy mod to make though. Every time your neighbor opens their garage it drops an engine block on your head.

      Funny. Rest assured that my neighbors are far enough that their remote will not trigger the hoist plus the hoist will only work if the lights are on.

    Well I had a link to G's opposition cloud storage so it may delete anything with certain phrases or links. If it's worth anything, yours is one of more complete and therefore better descriptions on how to do this on TH-cam.

    I bought a "broken" winch (same one) it was just missing the remote and therefore capacitor. Could you tell the voltage and microfarads of the built in capacitor please?

    That’s an awesome setup! I bought the same electric hoist and I’m trying to figure out if I can add a limit switch for the down direction. Can you please help me on this one? I want it to operate just like a garage opener. Thanks.

    • @richardengland7077
      @richardengland7077  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The picture @3:22 is the control box on top of the motor. To limit the down direction only I would put an inline switch on the dark or light blue wire. OR @0:18, the hand control unit, I would put an inline switch on the blue wire. Now your wires may differ, so test it out.

      @@richardengland7077 I will try it out and test it. I’ll let you know the results. Thanks!

      @@richardengland7077 The wirings are different and so are the colors. It has two different switches on the handheld controller.

      @@brightfame7984 This is only my guess. One switch controls up and one down. Putting an inline limit switch on one of the wires for down should work.

    Please correct me if i am wrong, the DPDT swich closes 4 contacts upon being press to either side, (the middle connection closes every time ) so how did you manage to connect these 4 contacts while using only 2 relays,, also what is the wattage of your hoist, isnt 240v 10A relay too low for this

    • @richardengland7077
      @richardengland7077  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct about the DPDT switch. One really is for down and one is for up. The middle contacts on a DPDT switch (always hot) are supplied to both relays. (I supply it to one, orange and brown wire, and then use two white jumpers to the other relay (left side).) Each relay has 2 distinct wires (right side). Mine is 110V. Check your hoist's draw, it may be different.

    Did yours have speed control? The manual says it does but couldn’t find it. Also 1st box had no bolt package. 2nd box just had bolt & spring washer. Instructions mention it also comes with a regular washer and in one spot says it comes with nuts & to fasten tight. Package contents do not list nuts. Tech support is just the number for harbor freights. Takes over 30 min to reach someone. Had a big problem exchanging the 1st box for the 2nd. Would not recommend Harbor Freights.

      No speed control, just up and down.

      Don't you know the trick?? When ya have a problem, ya send your buddy in and buy another one. Then play swap the box! And no, they don't need your phone number. This is why they needlessly change paint colors on their junk. Some items get "updated" more often. They know they sell garbage so they must be happy to EAT IT when I dump it back on their counter! 😝

    4:10 may I ask why you prefer cord to wire please?
    6:27 DC, single pull, double throw? How can I find out what remote will work with my Giantz Electric Hoist Winch 125/250kg rope? Specs: AC 240v/50Hz, 510W.

      Steel wire frays and that is some sharp stuff. So if I can, I always replace it with a cord.
      I'm not familiar with that hoist, or any other hoist really. You can use the video as an outline.

    Convoluted tube??? Do you mean corrugated?

    • @richardengland7077
      @richardengland7077  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What I used was convoluted tube, but corrugated "tube" would also work. As I understand it corrugated "pipe" is made in large diameters and convoluted "tube" is made in small diameters. Google would know for sure.

    Did you figure out why the signal loss?

    • @richardengland7077
      @richardengland7077  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's because it was a cheap wireless controller. If I were to get a good one, over $100, I bet it would work. For my needs, this works for me.

    If someone operates the cable remote control (on the winch with the capacitor motor) and you operate the radio remote control at the same time, then you have a big problem!!

    • @richardengland7077
      @richardengland7077  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If one person pushes up and the other down, I will take your word for that, but the likelihood of that happening is near zero, so I'm okay with that.
