- I'll admit it, I've let the flatwork schooling slip slightly... BUT I have been concentrating on improving other areas of our work (like the fun cantering bits while we're hacking 😅) Anyway, I'm back to the old grind with my trainer Justine. Watch as she suggests a simple exercise to help rellllaaaaaaax my horse, (this really works) sadly she can't suggest an exercise yet to help my BRAIN remember the test!

I think you are spot on on the weight/tall rider issue. Us horsegirls are always so concerned about how tall we are and think we need horses that are huge. Male riders (the tall ones) don't even have the slightest chance of finding a horse that's taller than them - and for those we say nothing and think that's normal. (which it is) 🙂 Keep up the good work with your horses! /Your swedish followers. 🤠🤠
We're very good at criticizing ourselves in the moment, without appreciating the journey for what it is. The minimized tension, the lovely relaxed frame and the even tempo compared to when I first saw Ember away back on SUKO 2 years ago is just immense! Be so proud! 🥰

Lucy, honestly, you look perfectly proportionate on Ember in your dressage saddle, especially as you are sitting up much straighter than in your jump saddle. Seriously, take a look again at the footage and I think you might agree. You and Ember have come so far in the last year; it is really remarkable. I know it is easy to be critical of ourselves (I doubt you would say those things to other people). Also, it is a process which is difficult for us perfectionists to accept often. Your legs and whole body look really perfect up on Ember now :) I hope you will see this too. Thanks for taking us along on your journey -- always love to see Justine too :)

Impressive how far he has come with you and Justine! Bless him, at first all he could do was throw his head and bolt around fearful and depressed. BTW...that's the story of many lives.😅
Actually I think you looked better in your dressage saddle!!! Not curling up, trying to look shorter....... ❤❤ You are turning in to a really good looking couple!!! He's such a beautiful little horse!!! ❤❤
I agree with you, I had got into a bad habit of scrunching up!!
I'm 5'10" and have ridden literal ponies and I always feel so awkward on them, like if the horse disappeared beneath me I would already be standing on the ground. But you're right, as long as you're not too heavy for the horse it's literally fine. They don't care that our legs are long.
Ponies are way more fun 😈

I think the dressage saddle was great to show some challenges with bend and him pushing you to the outside. When you were stepping down through your inside he was really starting to swing 🥰

I love watching a Justine, Lucy and Ember lesson. Lucy you look great in your dressage saddle!!!! Ember looks like this is the saddle for him in your flat work. You are so not to long/ big for him. PS I wish I had your legs!!!

Ember looks brilliant!! It’s so hard to do and think less, I could certainly use this when I’m riding my Welsh mare 😬😄 usually the less you “do”, the better she goes in a test!!

A lot of dressage riders are quite tall and have this issue too.
Always a good session with Justine. Your seat looked much better in the dressage saddle. I think with practice you will come to really like it, after all that's what it's made for!

I do enjoy listening to your lessons, I'm able to gleam lots of tips to try! I too favor my jump saddle over my dressage saddle guess because it's like a the prefect fit I'm use too! Ember's improvements are a huge credit to you both! Looking forward to the show vlog! Good luck!
