    I bought one used online from Guitar Center. Was super surprised. The fret work is perfect, it plays great, holds a tune all day, and sounds better than any Fender.

      thats what I mean in the video though - once you get them with right fretwork, playing well, there's great a great instrument in them

    Just about every guitar I've bought over the years needed a setup of sorts, some more than others and as you say they are just 'box shifting'.

    • @Paul-D
      @Paul-D  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeh this is true, i guess the battle is where is the reasonable line to needing a set up from the box, to just not being quite finished

    • @Dad-Gad
      @Dad-Gad ปีที่แล้ว

      Only 3 guitars I've ever bought needed no setup whatsoever out of the box , PRS SE 24 , Edwards Les Paul and Kramer Baretta Special.

      Yeh make enough guitars and theyll be some better then average and some below just a numbers game, just a shame more isnt done to show the magic that these things can have when well sorted out, youd think they would want them all that way so players got it from the first go

    I don't know if I just got lucky ?..But I bought one of these back in 2016 for $500 American dollars and I'm telling you it has been one of the most used and enjoyed guitars in our house of 2 sons who play in bands and me as well. It has been played live and even in a small studio setting to overdub some guitar parts, and it has never failed to sound good and playability wise, inspiring each of us in what we played. I love this POS . Lol. Mine needed minimal setting up with no issues concerning intonation or any fretboard problems. The neck is a joy to play on.. As my youngest son stated one time while playing it..The neck just feels like "Home". And I agree. Just my OP, though..Others might think otherwise. 😂

      @Paul-D  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      2016 was also a longgg time ago already and there was alot less emphasis on the drop shipping then which had a huge impact on the general QC, could also be that the dealer you got it from did some finishing work to it. Then also, being a numbers game theres always just going to be good and bad of any kind. Glad you got a good one and its still being enjoyed 🤘

      @Pauly's Guitars & Gear Oh yeah, I'm sure you are correct on all those points. I think I just happened to get a really decent one. I gravitate towards playing it more than the several Fenders, Epi's and the one real Gibby we have. Lol. Take care..Loved your review BTW.

      I think I’ve said before but the electrics on mine were not good at all . The pick-up selector was the worst thing .
      The neck was quite nice to play actually though .
      I gave mine away to a busker .

    The sound of it right out the box is great, BUT I had two problems:
    1. the wiring, besides the affordable (but good) components, is where the good price comes from. I have had issues with the switch. It often happens that it tilted the sound of the pickups. And it made bad noises.
    2. the intonation off the 12th fret was horrible
    3. I had view tonal dead spots in higher positions.
    These problems all together, forced me to bring it to a dealer to let it be fixed. It cost me another 250€. I couldn’t fix it by my own 😬

      I hear you man thats exactly what I've been harping on about for all these Vintage vids haha. Theres great guitars in there they just need coaxing out - and If I was in charge of these guitars.... id make sure people didn't need to do that. but it's just the way of things I guess

    Chunky frets. I like it! I don’t think we have these in the US. As for rosewood or pao fero boards on my cheap Squier bullets, I use a couple of drops of beard oil. I’ve even used coconut oil and haven’t ruined one yet. I really should invest in some fretboard conditioner tho.

    • @lone-wolf-1
      @lone-wolf-1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use baby oil. Important: it has to be mineral based oil! (Labeled as paraffinum, isopropyl palmitate). Natural oils get rancid and sticky over time. Mineral oils do not alter. It happened to found 19 years old baby oil from my son in my closet, and it was still as fresh as the first day I bought it.
      For the price of one little bottle of 100ml lemon oil (wich is basically identical, but with scent), you get 500ml of baby oil, wich can be used for multiple purposes. 😊

      Hy! No need to be vintage. Drugstores or supermarkets have them in their cosmetic department. Just bought 500ml of „Penaten“ here in Germany, my son‘s vintage one was used up.
      Glad, if I could help.

      @@lone-wolf-1 I was joking about the needing it to be vintage part. Just jokes. I just uploaded a short of me playing a 1961 vintage amp with brand new capacitors but old tubes. I don’t care about vintage years so long as the values of the electronics are the same as spec. Same goes for baby oil. I thank you again for putting me on to the mineral oil. Check out my short if you get a chance. Peace!
