    Guitars players definitely need a new guitar for every birthday and Christmas! Guitar Village looks fantastic, I haven't seen anything quite like it here in the states I just bought three Eastmans in three weeks, the SB55 double cut, SB55 single cut and the T64 just like to one you got which has such beautiful tones and low action without buzz. Just played a gig last night with two of my brothers using the SB55 single cut. It's really refreshing getting different tones with just the volume and tone knobs, a great rock work horse indeed! It's your video comparing the borrowed T64 to the one your better half gave you that drove me to the internet to buy the T64. Thank you for your help!

      Awesome, I did look at the SB55 afterwards and they are very cool. I just need to grow up a little to learn 1 pickup is enough hahaha

    Always a fantastic experience going to Guitar Village. First went there 20 years ago and bought a 1963 Gibson 335. Went there just last month and realised you can't even buy a reissue for what I paid for mine (how I wish I'd bought more back then!) Love seeing what they've got in the vintage rooms upstairs. Bought a couple of acoustics there too over the years and always impressed that they're happy to leave you alone with a couple of guitars and let you decide without any pressure.

      Thats awesome, crazy how far the vintage market has come right?! Makes you wonder how high it can go.

    It's true that it's not a bad idea, especially for people like us who aren't in a relationship and have very few friends, to spend a day at the guitar store on our birthday. We don't have to buy anything, but if we do, it will make us happy, and at least we spend the day in a place we love.
    It's a bit depressing to do it alone, but after all, we can be happy on our own too, and when we have a passion, it often takes precedence over many other things.

    • @1b2m

      The concept of birthdays is nonsense anyway. What are they supposed to be? A celebration for having managed to stay alive for another year?
      If anyone should be celebrated on someone's birthday, it's their mother. The person who carried them around for 10 months in their womb, who (should have) had to lay off booze and drugs and anything else fun for years (if breast-feeding), who spent hours in pain and the following years in desperation.
      So if someone decides to go to the guitar store for their birthday, that gives their mum a day off, which in my book is the best and most rewarding way to celebrate her with.
      That is, unless the little sh*t nicked mum's credit card on the way out... ;)

    I bought a T64/v in gold burst 6 months ago after being disappointed in the Chinese made Epiphone Casino (and the American made one being too expensive). It's my favourite guitar I've ever purchased, and the varnish finish is unique and something else. You won't be disappointed in your purchase. Eastman makes gibson guitars better than gibson

    In my travels I will always make time to stop at guitar stores, pawn shops and the rare real camera shop. I am old, retired and just like to enjoy the trip. Usually stay on State and Federal US highways and avoid the interstates. Best find was a Martin 000M rescued from a sunny shop window at a pawn shop in Branson, MO with loose binding for a great price.
    Whatever you choose to play, buy for your future. My first guitar was a crappy Framus Texan 12 string. My second one a 1971 Gibson J50 new (a J45 with plain spruce top) which I still play today and will go to a nephew when I go. If you are spending top dollar/pound/yen always think about whether it is worth your money long term. If it is, buy the best you can get and plan to keep it. Gradually you can build a great collection you love to play. One you can pass on to your children with real value both financially and musically.
    Don't waste your time on crap if you can buy lifetime quality. No matter what smoke and mirrors are displayed by YT guitar company shills, an HB will never be a Gibson. Neither will an Epiphone, no matter how gussied up and 'Signature"d. All those products have a place, but many are beginner level.
    I have never seen a 'budget' Rolls Royce, have you? I rarely hear people regret buying quality.

    Awesome, congrats on the new guitar, looks lovely. I'm in Guitar Village what feels like every other week sometimes as it's really local to me, shopped there since the mid 90s and had loads from them over the years. The 80s Tokai SG you showed was one of the ones I tried when I picked up my '99 SG. The Tokai was very cool and not a bad price for a genuine vintage guitar!

    A 54’ Les Paul custom is the dream guitar for me. I have an Eastman sb54v/ltd that I absolutely love and adore to hold off the gas for a Gibson. The Eastman might be a keeper because I do play it often and absolutely love it. It sounds awesome and is a very nice weight with a flamed maple top hiding under the ebony top which is very cool. That t64v is super awesome and I’ve had my eye on a blue one.

    • @Paul-D
      @Paul-D  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They are sooo expensive though 😅 but i agree it is a dream guitar for me too.
      The blue one i believe is actually semi hollow which will make it a totally different sounding guitar

    @uwedasler425 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Congrats! My T64/v (same color/finish, but with the Bigsby B7) is my absolute favorite non-Strat guitar ever. The Lollar P90s in this thing are probably the best pickups I have ever heard. And for me the T64/v was, on paper, the lowliest Casino/ES330 style guitar I have ever owned. I had a vintage ES330 that I sold happily when I found the Collings I-30 LC, and I happily sold the Collings after finding the Eastman. It beats both other guitars to the punch. Just for perspective, the ES330 was close to 8k Euros over here, the Collings was just a little under 6k, paid 2k for the Eastman. Same happened with my Memphis ES335 and the T59/v. But, to be fair, I did change the pickups in the T59. The SD Antiquities were very good, but the low wound Throbaks I replaced them with are definitely better.

    • @Paul-D
      @Paul-D  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your insight - ive always wondered how it would compare to the Collings. To the point im heading to coda in a few months and they stock them, was going to take this with me to compare it haha. Throbak…. Enough said you sir are a man of great taste haha.

    Congrats Paul, she’s a stunner! And you were right to get the antique varnish….. it looks so much older and more desirable in my opinion. Now go back and get that Cornell. And while you’re at it, make room in the back seat for that ‘54 reissue LP 😉. Oh, and another thing…. The question raised on your last vid…. digital interfaces or old fashioned guitar and amp? I think you just answered the question (by the fun you were having) when trying out these guitars in the shop.

    • @Paul-D
      @Paul-D  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Paul! Thanks for your tips on how to set the Cornell - I completely got it this time round, Amazing amp - and yeh beats any digital ive ever heard or used with ease. For the tone you get its amazing at that volume, but still quite loud when your boxed in with neighbours and everyone lives silently glued to there phones now. When I was a kid there some kind of noise coming out of all the houses all day long!

    • @paulstaffordcook8799
      @paulstaffordcook8799 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cheers Paul. Yeah, as regards being too noisy for the neighbours…. my guitar style involves touching the guitar strings incredibly lightly. For example I don’t think I’ve confidently just “strummed” an electric guitar in over 20 years. I’m always amazed at how loud my guitar is when I hand it over to another player. So yes, it depends on what style you like to play I guess.

Ebony board ebony bridge mahogany neck sitka spruce top. Taylor equivalent is 2500. What your hearing on j45 types is eastman have ebony fingerboard gibson still rosewood so doesn't have the percussive attack of ebony. Great guitars. I love gretsches. So happy for you you got the Eastman. I love Eastman myself, so I know how great they are. Big fan myself and i would love to get my hands on a Juliet. By any chance did you tried it or have tried one in the past?
    I like very much the specs on it, 25.5 scale length, set neck, better acces than a LP, nice chunky neck and the Eastman quality.
    Enjoy your new guitar and looking forward to your next videos showing it!

    Nice video man. You and I are both big Eastman fans. I’ve been making videos for quite a while featuring Eastman’s purely because I love them and have been the happy owner of a beautiful T185MX since about January or February 2012. I’ve heard from a couple people about Eastman discontinuing the varnish models, and I wanted to get your take on this. I picked up a lovely SB 59/V recently after trying a number of them in a guitar store. I do demos at here in Canada. This one was designated V not TV like many of the other recent guitars. According to the spec sheet, it was completed in February of this year. which I guess makes it a bit of an anomaly. Either way it has a lovely black over sunburst varnish finish and is a nice weight compared to many of the other SB 59s I tried. I’d put it somewhere between eight and 8 1/2 pounds if I had to guess, where as many of the other variants I checked out felt closer to 9 pounds or so. Either way, I am loving the sound of this new guitar and the contrast between it and my old T185. It rings like a bell and goes into beautiful harmonic feedback more easily than any of my other electric guitars. I’ve already used it on a new solo album i’m going to release later this year. Congrats on the new guitar, sounds like a good one.!

    • @Paul-D
      @Paul-D  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cheers man!
      So I was under the impression that at around summer 2023 all the varnish models had stopped and replaced with non relic True Tone. BUT - I learnt when I was there they ARE still doing the varnish on some models at a very very reduced number and for a slightly increased price. So in theory you'll still get the aged varnish ones, just nothing like as many and it's no longer the standard on the V models.

    • @LucasHaneman
      @LucasHaneman 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Paul-D AH, interesting info here, Paul. Thanks for that. It appears that I was one of the lucky ones who got an actual varnish model based on how the Guitar feels in the hand at least.. Either way I am very impressed by these guitars. It makes a great partner to my T1 85 and as far as LP styles go, can’t imagine having anything better. Played my first festival gig with it today as I’ve only had it for a short while and man, oh man was I impressed with the way it sounded at stage volume. The sustain, the sympathetic feedback, all of it just wonderful. As far as your new guitar goes, I hope you’re enjoying it. I had a chance to demo one of these a while ago in a Music Store and I was really impressed with the sound of those Lollar P90s’. The guitar felt great in the hand too.

      @@Paul-Dyeah. I liked it. The bassy bridge. The neck sounded pretty good but I’ve already got two Strats. lol I don’t need a Tele that sounds like a Strat. You played the heck out of it though!

    Only a guitar player would pay a massive premium for an instrument that's been deliberately made to look damaged!!

      To be honest I bought my ss10/v despite the relic finish, which isn't my cup of tea. Found the most subtle one I could and most people don't even realise it has a relic finish. It sounds too good and plays too well to care and for a fraction of the price of an equivalent quality Gibson.

    Wow way over priced. It's a piece of wood.
