TESSERACT - Sirens - Jay Postones 1-Take

- Recorded live at Middle Farm studios during the recording session for TesseracT's fifth album 'War of Being'.
We set up a static camera to capture this single take of 'Sirens'. It's not the final cut that made the record and it's completely unedited. In fact, the audio I'm playing along to is still the demo here.
I especially enjoy the rawness of this performance and thought it'd be cool to share this 'behind the scenes' content with the world.

This song gives me Sigur Ros vibes and your drumming definitely contributes to that. Great stuff
I am not a drummer, a guitarist, so there is that. I kind of break down drummers in 2 categories, Conductor and Musician. Most drummers come across as conductors and that is great, needed and expected. Then there are the musical drummers (like John Bonham for example) that make all the difference in a song. There are not many out there that fit that role, Jay seems to be in that camp, love his style.
One of my favorite songs from the album. I hope to learn it one day. Looking forward to your master class and speaking to you again. 🥁♥

What cymbals did you use before?
@@do8671 Zildjian. Don't get me wrong, Zildjians are amazing, but I'm not nearly as into the K series as other people, and I'm bored of the classic A custom sound after a decade.
@@arsonne okay no I agree, I was just curious... I use Sabian complex, Anthology for ride, I couldn't be happier... But yeah I get what you mean, there is something special about Meinl.
@@do8671 Sabian is awesome too. I love the AAX line. The freq hats in particular are incredible.

Any particular reason you chose to record on acrylics? Just curious what you were going for tonally? Great album all around!
We tried a few kits in the room, and these simply sounded the best when blind-tested (listening in the control room)
