Have the Pro X and pleased with them. mine does have both mute AND volume wheel on the cord? - the microphone sounds good according to teammates when gaming.
It's also worth mentioning that their gaming software allows you to set up Audio profiles for all your games and desktop individually. So you can boost the bass in one game and the highs in another. It will automatically switch to those profiles when launching games.
BUT - I'm currently considering an upgrade to MMX 300 just because I've read so much good about them.
Any thoughts on that? Is it worth upgrading for mostly gaming?

i havent tried the mmx 300 but for that money something like the audeze penrose / hyperx cloud orbit s would be the best sounding headphones for that price range

@@ryanhostudio Thanks. I'll look into those two. Although it looks like they both are about 60$ more than the MMX 300 🤔

I was trying to find everywhere if the MMX300 still stays relevant and able to compete with today's fierce competition. I just bought one recently, brand new from the official store at 50% discount. Seems like one superb deal to pass on. Hope for the best.

Mmx 300 doesn't disappoint especially paired with sennheiser gsx 1000 dac/amp. I upgraded to the dt 990's and gave my daughter the mmx 300. My nephew loves the mmx 300 but he's on console and my sister won't spend almost $300 on a headset so I told my sister to get the mmx 100. Going to have my nephew bring them on Christmas so I can test them out

If you choose headphones for gaming, Beyerdynamic MMX300 or Beyerdynamic MMX150, then the Beyerdynamic MMX150 are definitely the best choice. The thing is that the Beyerdynamic MMX300 sound exactly the same as the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 32 Ohm. The difference between them is that the Beyerdynamic MMX300 has a microphone. The Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 32 Ohm, like the Beyerdynamic MMX300 for gaming, lacks mid and high frequencies, which reduces audibility in these frequencies and deteriorates the sound atmosphere. The Beyerdynamic MMX150 are designed in such a way that they lower the low frequencies, and raise the mids and highs considerably, and thanks to this, we hear excellent sound throughout the entire range in games. Gorgeous and fast bass, excellent, lively and clear speech, comfortable high frequencies, providing highly detailed sound. I note that Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 32 Ohm and Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 250 Ohm seem to be the same, only the resistance is different, but they sound completely different, and the sound of 250 Ohm is much higher quality, cleaner and there is no tinkling in the bass. The thing is that high-impedance Beyerdynamic models use wire twice as thin as a human hair (0.018 mm) and more turns on the voice coil. In low-impedance headphones, the wires are thicker, there are fewer turns, but the coil is heavier. The lighter coils on the 32 and 250 ohm models are one of the reasons these headphones sound better. But the Beyerdynamic MMX150 is not very suitable for music; the Beyerdynamic MMX300 would be better for music, and even better would be the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 250 Ohm, but not 32 and 80 Ohm. Good headphones are 50% of good sound, and for 100% great sound you need a pair of headphones + a sound amplifier. I have FiiO K9 PRO ESS and a pair of headphones: Beyerdynamic MMX150 and Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 250 Ohm. Beyerdynamic MMX150 for games, and Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 250 Ohm for music and movies.

The MMX 100/150 are the better sounding headset of the bunch. And not to mention the mic on the Beyerdynamic is absolutely out of this world.

I have these and I agree, the MMX100 is a lot of fun to use but could be uncomfortable at more than 2-3 hours. The hyper X is super comfortable and very neutral and is perfect for FPS. IMO, for music the mmx100 does sound the best. I guess you cant have it all in one headset. I'm looking to upgrade if you have any recommendations!

my favorite closed back headphone is probably the shure 840a, maybe for fps gaming not as good as hyperx but for general music listening and story mode games it’s great

So which one is better hyperx alpha or g pro x?

I listened to all three of these headphones and my choice is the Beyerdynamic MMX150. Logitech G Pro X and Hyperx Cloud Alpha do not provide cool and beautiful sound. I have a FiiO K9 PRO ESS audio amplifier and 3 headphones. The first and old Razer BlackShark V2 headphones and a couple of new ones: Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO 250 Ohm and Beyerdynamic MMX150. The Beyerdynamic MMX150 are ideal headphones for gaming, but not great for music. For music I have a Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 250 Ohm, but for games they lack mids and highs. The Razer BlackShark V2 are disgusting in sound, they are booming, the bass piles up on the mids and the sound is bassy, there is no separation, no clarity. Hyperx Cloud Alpha is better than the Razer BlackShark V2, but worse than the Beyerdynamic MMX150. When you listen to Hyperx Cloud Alpha, the sound is somehow cheap, flat, there is no volume, everything is a mess, although there are high frequencies and detail is normally audible in games. Logitech G Pro X are the worst headphones with terrible sound. They have annoying highs, the bass is very very weak, and the mids are not rich, there is no such cool and lively speech as the Beyerdynamic MMX150. Logitech G Pro X and Hyperx Cloud Alpha are both brands that don't know how to make sound and they don't sound close to what the Beyerdynamic MMX150 sounds like. Logitech G Pro X and Hyperx Cloud Alpha are budget headphones with mediocre sound, and the Beyerdynamic MMX150 is a different class, HiFi level. The Beyerdynamic MMX150 headphones connected to the FiiO K9 PRO ESS sound completely different. The already great sound is improved many times over. Good amplifiers change the frequency response of headphones, so the headphones begin to sound different and cooler. My choice for gaming is FiiO K9 PRO ESS + Beyerdynamic MMX150.

mmx 150 does sound pretty good for sur eespecially next to the logitech g prox and razer blackshark v2 is dreadful i agree lol. I have the old hyperx cloud alpha from kingston days, i heard the newer ones arent as good from HP but i havent tested it myself

It seems to me that HyperX do not make the speakers themselves, but design the headphones and order the speakers from different speaker manufacturers. Since suppliers may change due to economic benefits or other reasons, the sound may change. Beyerdynamic, unlike HyperX, is a manufacturer of speakers and microphones and has been in business for a very long time. They make their own speakers and headphones. If I choose sound, then I would choose those brands that deal with sound, such as: Shure, Focal, Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, Audio-Technica, FiiO.
