On our recent ride through the Western ghats, we spent a day in a lush plantation located amidst the forests of Thirthahalli, Shimoga. The highlight of our stay here included simple but pleasing traditional dishes made to local recipes - meaty Malenadu curries and vegetarian preparations featuring fresh farm produce like jackfruit, betel leaves and other greens. What came as a total though rather delightful ;-) surprise was a tasting of artisan wines made of apple, pomegranates, bird eye chillies and even betel nut. We spent only a day here, however Kolavara Heritage seems to be the sort of destination that would make for a great two-day break. Hope you enjoy this vlog.

This place is a little heaven. Visited last April and everything about this place is so good, excellent home style food, clean rooms & pool, gracious host and a serene environment. The wines flavours are heavenly and kept us going during the two lockdowns! So happy you visited our fav little estate.
Lovely to have covered this areas I wasv working as BM of kaveri Grameena bank Halmuthuru near kammardi which near to Thirthahalli, Halmathuru though is in Chikmagalur District in jul2012 to may 2015 and traveling weekly twice or thrice from Thirthahalli on an old Bajaj boxer bike, each house, places look like resort, undisturbed peace, new places to explore, thanks for blog kripalamanna ji, best 👍 wishes to you and your team, happy riding, and on the sidelines enjoy the local food, varied, vegetarian and non vegetarian

Kolavara Heritage is a must stay for anyone who needs a plunge into serene nature, great food, amazing hospitality.We went as a family and the beautifully maintained property is eye-catching and reminds one of the hardwork put in by the hosts. A perfect place for a peaceful getaway matched by the warmth of the hosts.

In England i know that anything with a sauce/sambhar , (basically wet ) is called "curry" i know this is wrong but can you tell me ... when do Indians actually call a dish "curry" ?
Very interesting.. i never knew specialist wines are produced in India.
So my two cents on this I might be wrong.. Any gravy dish with a Tomato, onion (in some cases tamarind) and Condiments (chilli, coriander, jeera etc) with accompanying meats (poultry, lamb, fish) and vegetables is what we call as a curry dish
Any gravy dish which has lentils as a base like Sambhar, dal thadka and its likes are not called as curries in India..
