It's crazy how competitive even the BC One cypher event is in Korea. So many bboys already familiar with competing successfully on the global stage.
What I love about both skim and differ is the fact that you will always see a fresh set. With Vero, Blue, and other bboys, you sort of see what sort of moves are coming or you can recall exactly the same set from before. Well deserved wins to the final for both.

i agree on the part " different style", but they both use some same moves so it makes them some how alike.
He's been pretty close to Jinjo for a couple of years now.
He's participated with them in UK Champs, R16, etc.
Yea bro Cloud came first. He is one of Differs inspirations. I wouldnt say he bites him though. They way the dance is similar, but the moves that each one does are completely original.
Great battle! These guys showed so much love for each other. It's an honor to our dance to have such gracious competitors. :D

I don't think the Korean scene is getting any weaker. They are just going through a transition since many of the bboys we were used to seeing such as physicx, hong10, many of the gamblerz, etc are getting older and having to deal with family and military service. The new generation are coming in though and they are raw as hell.
Differ doesn't do the Cloud moves anymore, but at one time like 3-4 years ago he was heavily "influenced" by Cloud. You have to watch battles from that period, but Differ would just slightly tweak Cloud's signatures. Two that come to mind are Differ would do a version of Cloud's twirl move and that combo where Cloud would end up in a headspin with his knees bent. Differ would end up in a drill, but it was the same setup. Whether you call that a bite or not is up to interpretation.
The reason people say that is because they know what they're talking about. Cloud, Teknyc, abstrakt, etc all founded Skill Methodz in 1995, and were huge on the scene. TIP wasnt even started yet, and Differ didnt even join up with TIP till after 2000, so Cloud was well established by then. Differ is great, but Cloud is far beyond him.
i dont get it... just look at differs second round he like did nothing but skim had lots of content every round... please someone explain why he won?

It is true that differ could've been around longer than cloud, but it is not very likely. So i decided to do some research on differ and this is what i found:
"Ki-Hon aka B-Boy DIFFER began B-Boying in 1998, upon seeing his friends dancing at school."
Thats's a snippet that i found on his profile on the Red Bull BC one webpage. Cloud started bboying in 1994, and helped found skill methodz in '95. I respect both bboys, they are both great, but Cloud was definitely doing his thing before Differ.

Cloud has actually Been around since the Mid 90's. He dissapeared for a while because he became one of madonnas back up dancers and was touring with her. I dont think Differ came onto the scene till the early 2000's. So i would say Cloud came wayyy before differ.

And yet, this is only a small margin of the amount of Korean bboys that could compete succesfully haha. There is still high level stuff going on in Korea. It's too bad the bboy scene isn't as active as it was a few years ago, where there was a real sense of rivalry between crews like rivers, drifterz, last for one, gamblerz, tip etc.
I could easily name 20 bboys that could've made it to the finals of this qualifier.
A mi me simpatiza mas Differ, pero en este caso la final era de Skim, fue superior en todas la entradas.
Aca lo que paso es que con la entrada explosiba de Differ en la final se compro al publico. Es lo que busca RedBull, no quieren que bailen como un cypher, quieren el espectaculo.

Hong10 said in an interview Differ is his best friend. Skim is also one of his closest friends and judges are responsible for making unbias decisions.

I think Skim has more of the 90s flava, or the bigger moves of the 90s bboys. And each one is done with near perfect execution. On the other hand, Differ again has the same thing going, most korean bboys do, just more movement and execution. Its sort of the code there it seems, I remember Born talking about that, you had only a few years before you were sent to the military, so you had to execute harder, faster, and stronger. But they are coming around to originality in a general sense though.

While I understand that you have been in the scene for many many years, I don't see what you mean. I also see that you replied on every Skim battle at Redbull BCone. Where have you seen his moves before? Could you maybe provide examples? Which bboys hes copying? Maybe so people get a better understanding. Which bboys would you consider original? Not being hostile or anything, just curious
Yeah I thought Skim had this. But I'm glad Differ won because he's getting kinda old, he deserves it after all he's done for the Korean bboy community.

Juste une question , Skim est définitivement éliminé de la compétition ? Car si je me souviens bien Vero avait perdu contre Taisuke au Cypher de Taiwan , mais avait quand même participé au Red bull bc one 2011.
All of Differs rounds were comfortable. All signature moves, stuff that he could do easily and at the drop of a hat which is cool for a final but considering the fact that literally all of Skims set were comprised of complex shit he definitely could have went harder. But battles take a lot out of people, especially BCONE. But thats no excuse for a second round that looked like all concepts....
what does cloud have to do here, differ uses some( and by that i mean very bit) same moves with(and by with i dont mean copy) cloud. but i see 2 different styles, it doesnt mean anything when they use same moves, it's how they use it

Honestly, I was expecting a closer battle, maybe even a tie. Differ is definitely cleaner, more well-rounded, and incredibly original, but Skim went harder than Differ and his 2nd set was waaaay better than Differ's.

if you look at the other battles, Hong10 voted "against" most of the people hes down with, like fleta. Hes a pretty fair judge imo

In my opinion, Tie for the first round. Skin took the second and Differ took the third. 1 more round would've been good to see

hong 10, differ, and skim are all in same crew. nothing biased about judging
okay skim had foundation, footwork, and beat at the first round, skim took the second for obvious reasons because differ didnt even do much, for third it was a tie cuz skim had everything except dynamics because differ had them (probably saved them at second round). IMO Skim 2 > Differ 0
Red Bull (and a lot of people in general) really doesn't like ties, so they try as hard as possible to get a winner every battle.
i wonder if they ever thought of just giving the judges a clipboard and a marker instead of making signs for every bboy lol, it would save a lot

Still didn't answer my question...Who do you consider to be an Original bboy? By your definition other then the pioneers of this movement who were the first ones to these moves, everyone else is doing the same thing as skim, taking moves that already exist and putting their spin on things.

i hate it when most of everyone make Redbull BCone as a measurement of bboyin.....its a great event and competition, but u never know what someone's been through in his/her breakin experience......
