Pride is a damsel in distress... Trivia about the funny lightning man: Zeus' lightning bolts were actually forged by the Cyclopes to make war on Chronos. Zeus' first act in his rebellion against his father was to free his uncles the Cyclopes and Hecatoncheires from the prison his grandfather Oranos/Uranus had placed them in beneath the planet's crust. In gratitude, they joined him and his siblings in overthrowing the Titan. The Cyclopes turned out to be master smiths (in many myths they serve as assistants to Heph at his forge) and created a weapon strong enough to topple the Titans themselves for Zeus. Zeus used these lightning bolts not just as his signature weapon but also as a sigil of his domain over the sky itself, and all the world below it. The idea of an all-mighty sky god who is father to the others is a very common trope in Indo-European mythology and the various traditions spun off from it. Even God with a capital G takes a lot of inspiration from Zeus in Western depictions, between the luxurious grey mane and beard, deep and fatherly voice and the use of weather systems to showcase his mercy and displeasure (rainbows for mercy in God's case, as well as fire tornadoes and Zeus' typical thunder storms). Even the flood myth (i.e., Noah) is a shared trope between paternal sky gods who use lightning and storms as their instruments of change upon the world. In Roman myth, Zeus' flood myth reads almost play-by-play identically to two Bible stories depicting God's wrath as a Sky God. Zeus becomes displeased by mortalkind's sin, excess and cruelty the same way God is in the Sodom and Gomorrah and Noah stories. In the Bible God sends down two angels in disguise to see if Sodom and Gomorrah are deserving of being spared His wrath, while in Greek myth Zeus disguises himself and Hermes as beggars and sees who on Earth will treat them with kindness. In both stories the envoys are mistreated by every human being they come across, with the humans depicted as vicious, greedy, callous and cruel (in the Bible's case they even try to *eat* the Angels and/or SA them--the wording is translated in different ways). In both cases Zeus/God are finally given refuge by a married pair of kindly, humble humans from their vicious communities. The Sky Gods then reveal their disguised messengers and tell these humans they will be the only ones spared their wrath. God then burns Sodom and Gomorrah in a storm of fire, sparing Lot and his children but not his wife, who ignores his instructions to not look back at the cities as they burn and is turned into a pillar of salt as a result. Zeus meanwhile has the two kindly humans he met, Deucalion and Phyrra, build a seaworthy boat despite being landlocked, since he intends to have Poseidon flood the world and wipe out mortalkind (sound familiar?). Like Noah, they're mocked for their excessive piety until the flood comes and all of humankind is wiped out saved for them. Also like Noah, they're tossed and turned by the flooded seas until they come to rest upon a gigantic mountain--myths disagree on which one it was, be it Etna, Parnassus, Othrys or Athos in Zeus' myth or Mount Juno or Ararat (or somewhere in the wider Ararat range) in the Bible. In some tellings of Deucalion's myth, he even sends out a pigeon to search for land from his boat and it comes back with an olive branch, inspiring the olive branch in the Noah story. In all cases Deucalion is instructed either by Zeus or Promotheus to repopulate the land--in the original Greek myth Prometheus is the one who warns Deucalion of Zeus' coming wrath--by throwing the bones of his mother over his shoulder. His wife is disgusted by the idea of defiling the graves of their parents, but pious Deucalion correctly deduces the same Gods who destroyed humanity for their acts of cannibalism and human sacrifice wouldn't then be asking them to use human bones. Instead, he interprets the instructions to mean he must use Gaia, Mother Earth's bones to repopulate Earth. Sure enough, by throwing stones over his shoulder he's able to create new men who inherit his morality and wisdom, while his wife Phyrra creates women from stones the same way, thus repopulating the Earth. Gaia then creates all modern animals following in their lead, the same way Noah and his family repopulated the Earth along with the animals they saved from the flood. The Sky God then shows his mercy by displaying a rainbow in the sky and making a covenant with the survivors that they will never again flood the Earth in this way as a reward for their piety. The trope of the Thunder Bringer and Father of the Heavens is persistent between Norse (albeit split between Odin and Thor), Greek, Babylonian, Mesopotamian and Hebrew mythology, and to this day inspires depictions of the Lord of the Heavens as a lightning-wielding white-bearded bringer of divine justice who lives up in a fluffy sky palace. In some ways, the tropes Zeus continues to inspire in our culture and civilization are even older than he is, as he himself descends from a Proto Indo-European (PIE person) sky deity named Dyeus who was dramatically different in personality but very similar in his domain of lightning bolts and thunderstorms and fluffy clouds and rainbows. Even the myths shared by Zeus and God probably descend from the Mesopotamian flood story, which is beat-for-beat near identical save for the names of the Gods and mortals. That in turn might also come from Dyeus and his own wrath and mercy, his own thunderbolts and rainbows, with all of European and Middle Eastern cosmology descending from a single eternal understanding that the manifestation of divinity's will comes in the form of divine thunderbolts thrown down from on high.
Solo Heph is nowhere near as bad as you're making it sound. It was surprisingly easy on 40 fear. Heph's attack and special boons have the best pom scaling in the game, as they get increasing returns per pom instead of diminishing (e.g. going from 4 seconds cooldown to 3 is much more of a DPS increase than going from 8 to 7). He does a ton of AoE damage, and his room clear in big rooms is pretty solid if you play around vent and just tap everything once. Bossing is a kind of slow, though, but it's still better than Demeter and Hera (if you can't abuse Blood Lines). You could also consider using Echo's keepsake during these runs since you're just stacking one god anyway.
It would be way, way cooler if you made an exception for Hera just so that you could get fodder for King's Ransom and power up your boons to absurd levels of power. I've witnessed just how overpowered it is in a few of your previous builds.
It’s coming! Freeze in general is a great status, Arctic ring is a great cast, her hailstorm duo with zeus is strong, freezer burn with hestia is great, cold storage just make freeze that much better and snow queen is a nice defensive tool hope that helps
Hey, maybe you could set up some duo or a legendary from the previous night to get something from a specific god from Echo in these one god only runs. All you'd have to do is just go to the surface so you can easily get like 2 boons and duo, or 3 boons and a legendary, and then die. You'd just have to make sure that you fill up the core slot you used to get a duo in your previous run with a core boon from the desired god. And considering you get to Echo without losing DDs, you'd have a 75% chance to be offered Boon Boon Boon. Just a suggestion!
