So in my second episode of the test ride series I hopped behind the reigns of this sick nasty KTM 1190 RC8 R. This bike packs a powerful punch of torque making wheelies effortless, the front end resembles one of a dirtbike when reaching higher speeds as it tends to get bar shakes pretty easily. I'm 6 foot 2 and barely sit flat footed on the bike so it is definately not short person friendly at stock height. all in all one bad ass ride I had a blast riding and test a few wheelies on. This bike really gives you a natural feel in your riding experience verses some newer models packing a ton of rider aid technology. Hope you all enjoyed!

you said it wrong i think. torque is how fast you get to the wall horsepower is how fast your going through it

This bike was perfectly designed up to the front cowl , then, , , the clock hit 5 o'clock and the designers went home. the bored janitor ,passing by, completed the left open sheets and the day after it was sent for production.

We let a former test rider take your bike out for a test ride for his TH-cam channel & uhhh, he totaled it.😐 ..Like completely🤭..But hey , on the bright side the test rider is perfectly fine.😁”

@@Tremonius On another note , that awesome man! The rc8 is my second favorite bike aside from the bmw s1000rr. “Not the current gen , the one before the current”.. But the RC8 is like seeing a unicorn out an about if you ever see one.. they are SUPER rare. You should definitely make a TH-cam channel. I’d subscribe..I’m always down to see some RC8 action.🤙🏽 I have a channel as well. Check it out sometime , if ur ever bored & have a chance.😂✌🏽

I'll say this. As a current owner of my 2014 r model, this is absolutely the best litrebike I've ever used on the street. the ethos are fantastic and adjustable, the transmission works really well, it makes induction noise just like a Daytona 675, it feels and is both lighter and narrower then my 09 zx6r, and is an all around great joy to ride on a daily basis. Oh, did I mention the fact that I average 55+ mpg on a regular basis? because I do. and It's a great wheelie machine when you want to. the fact that it has a slipper clutch negates the rear wheel hop on deceleration that they were notorious for in the older models. definitely look it up if you're one to carve mountain passes or like long rides.
and before any of you ask, no I don't have any videos of it posted on TH-cam. I apologize, I'm having too much fun riding that I constantly forget

@@lioncross1849 yes I have. although it was a 2012 model, not a 2009.
on tracks that are more spread out (Road America, Brainerd International Raceway) it's not going to keep up with more modern superbikes because it simply runs out of steam before they do. the limited torque it produces will only take you so far.
As far as finding a better bike, I haven't. As the years have gone on, it really only gets sweeter with time. All the major exterior fasteners are torx bit, which allows me to use one set of sockets, one ratchet and 2 extensions to break the bike down far enough that the only things left attached are the wheels, suspension and frame. It's a great platform for DIY tinkering, repair and refurbishing. Still to this day it gets 55 mpg highway when I'm just cruising. It just works. It's got enough electronics on there to run fuel injection and spark mapping and that's it. Lack of ABS isn't really an issue when the wheels its got on are so light that it reduces the required braking effort. After taking it completely apart and replacing fasteners piece by piece over the last 7 years, I've dropped the wet weight of the bike to around 390 lbs, and done my best to optimize efficiency of motion. It's closest analog arguably isn't a superbike, but rather a well-built and well-prepped GSXR-750 with lightweight rims and an upgraded braking system thrown on it. The major difference is that it feels significantly thinner between the knees and handles far closer to a 400 than what a 600 chassis would give you, even optimized.

Out of curiosity, did you know that the RC8 is completely adjustable to the rider? The only bike I've seen so far that you can adjust the clip ons, both clutch and brake levers, seat sub frame , pegs, swing arm. I'm surprised more manufacturer hasn't followed suit . Bada$$ bike
The bike looks nice I would buy it just for the the look
look wise the RC8 has a very sleek look especially the front, it's different to me and I like it. I test rode my buddies RC8 on homestead track and my god the handling is pretty sharp. And the technology wise part, I think it's the perfect type of bike especially with the gauges, it's not too much nor is it too little, enough to keep you focused on the road. I'm considering buying one once I move back to Canada.
One of the bikes I have decided that one day I will have an RC8R. I’ve ridden 2 of my friends when they had it and I was friends with them. Rode them a couple of times that’s it but i love the bike. And already have a part list to buy AFTER I buy an RC8R
Rc8 R was prepared as a track machine with minimal rider aids and you could change everything to your own preference

6'1 but weigh 230. yea it's kind of crazy feeling. I have gotten use to it. Then anytime I see someone else on especially shorter than myself it reminds me how different. You will lose your mind if you ride one for a long time then jump on a regular bike. Since you sit more in it when you cross over it feels like you literally sit on top of the other ones. But I feel you gotta get use to it for sure, but once you do nothing feels the same.

Horsepower is high rpm torque....everything makes torque, the Hp # is a function of the torques characteristic. I got a Yosh cammed Busa now 178whp/107wtq and used to have an R6 lol. I would never ride a small engine again. I advocate everyone start on big motor and just work your way into the throttle have no regrets.
