My dad has been to Japan, Korea, and China quite a few times for business. He said that Japan was the most fun. He told me that they work hard but play even harder, even on weekdays. They went out one night and his American colleague that went with him was a competitive drinker in college, so he could down an entire beer in about 3 seconds. The Japanese guys there were trying to learn how to do it and weren't about to let an American show them up. Two of the Japanese guys got so drunk trying to suck down a beer that fast that their pissed off wives had to come pick them up. One of the funniest things my dad has ever seen. He also said that they take their karaoke VERY seriously. He's got quite a few very interesting stories of his travels.

    So here is s story,
In my english class we were learning christmas songs in different languages for whatever reason (We did dutch, Swedish, Traditional Chinese, and danish) and of coarse, Japanese. Here's why it was the best (These are the basic translations for Rudolph the RNR):
    Rudolph had a shiny nose
    Nobody liked him
    He cried every night
Then one Christmas it was dark
Santa decided Rudolph's nose was convenient (FUCKIN' CONVENIENT)
    Rudolph was useful.
    Yuh-huh.

Kind of like the Danish one about Rudolph as well :)
"Do you know the one about Rudolph?
      Rudolph with the red snort.
      He was an old reindeer,
      Who looked highly strange.
      All the other reindeers laughed
      And Rudolph became embarrassed
      Of his red nose .
That was not fun at all!
But a foggy Christmas night Santa screamed.
I am lost Rudolph come and light the way for me.
And you better believe that Rudolph's nose lit
      Up like a lighthouse!
      _and here's the best part_
      Cheers for the red noses
      Lovely Christmas tale"

Infinite Creations I've been reading your other comments as well and you seem to have the wrong impression of Japan.. A small portion of Japan loves anime. Anime is frowned upon like it is in America.
The fictional life styles of anime characters are no where near true, Japanese people have uploaded videos speaking of that as well.
I hate to be so blunt, but I don't want you to go to Japan and get your hopes up ! Yeah, it's an amazing place, but females do not speak like they do in anime and these different anime character personality types do not exist.
Japan is a country of its own, not a dreamland. It has its problems just like any other country. 60 years from now, less than 50% of Japan will be working according to statistics. Their people will be too old and the population is too low. Don't forget the big anime fans who choose their waifus over real life women so they refuse to date.
Please, don't take my words as offensive or in a mean way. I wish you the best during your endeavors in Japan, but try not to expect it to be like anime. I have a friend who I warned for years that it's different from anime and not what he thinks, yet he ignored me. He came back with disappointment and hasn't been back since.
I love Japan as it is and have considered seeking work in Japan, but I know the stage behind the curtain.
I'm a nerd and will be playing visual novels, reading manga, watching anime.. etc during my stay in Japan; but will not expect to see the same scenarios actually happen.
Anime is a form of escapement for a reason.
Again, try not to take my words as hurtful. I expect to receive much hate for this, but I felt the need to throw my input out there.
Just don't go expecting a heaven-like experience. Expect the worse, and receive the best.
      Low expectations = High satisfaction.

btw. "A small portion of Japan loves anime. Anime is frowned upon like it is in America" ???
      Double nope!
First i´m not from America so I don´t know about Anime there ;b
Second "frowned upon" ? Not really, I have been once to the Comiket and maybe not everyone likes it so much, but they surely are not against it!!!
I never said that " [I] will not expect to see the same scenarios actually happen " . But i would buy and read/see a lot of Anime/Manga there XDDDD

There's so much comedic relief in your videos. I can't remember the last time I've laughed so hard. Every kind of laugh from a chuckle, to knee slapping, crying, and/or peeing or dying laughter. What makes it so funny is, the marketing in Japan is taken very seriously and with so much pride in what they do (things that in the US or in the UK is hugely embarrassing or just absurd) is just so well done that you can't help but laugh. What I mean is, this type of laughter is just genuine hilarity. It's not in any way making fun of, offensive, or looking down on Japan. Although, some of of their marketing is a bit...well....weird and *sometimes* embarrassing, but for the most part, it's just funny. I'm not expressing myself quite as well as I want to, but I just want to say thank you for your hard work, and, cheers to Japanese marketing.

Fun story about language in Japan: My parents went there before I was born (my dad was on a trip for karate), and there was a bus that was supposed to pick everyone up after a grueling journey up and down a mountain. My mom, of course, remained at the base of the mountain because she wasn't learning karate and sure as hell wasn't going up and down a mountain.
Turns out they brought the bus up, and the whole point was to make them think there was more ahead of them then there actually was. So here's my mom, sitting and waiting for a bus that isn't coming, when a car pulls up and this lady rolls down the window. Neither of them speak a common language, and after figuring this out, the other woman just says "Karate? Karate?" And my mom said "Hai" which was the only world of Japanese she knew. And thanks to those two words, this woman managed to get my mom back to the hotel where everyone was staying.

I've heard that the hospitality towards foreigners there is fantastic. That they work very hard to make sure you are alright, know where you're going and not lost, try to make you more comfortable by speaking English to you at first and making sure you have a fork/spoon at restaurants to make it feel more like home to you, and just all in general take care of you to make sure your time in Japan is great (even if they randomly see you walking down the street looking confused they come up to you to help)! I've met Japanese people before, but in my own country. I've never met a Japanese person who wasn't nice, hardworking, and very gentlemanly. If that were my country of origin and culture, I'd be so proud of my people. They all seem like great people.

  • @infiltr80r
    @infiltr80r 10 ปีที่แล้ว +7

It comes down to trust, in Japan you can meet total strangers and you don't feel threatened or worried about your safety, therefore partying with them comes easily.
People are generally very nice, there is however a minority of middle aged racist Japanese guys who don't like foreigners and show it in the funniest of ways. It should be noted that they are very tiny minority and they come off as odd, not threatening.

Ever since I started learning about Japan in junior high, I've been consumed by a growing fascination with Japan as well as some other parts of Asia. I shall certainly visit one day. For now, I shall try and learn the language and more about the incredible culture. In fact, it was a Japanese lady (my professor) that gave me the inspiration and support to gain the self-belief and extra boost to graduate from my university with good grades. She probably doesn't know but my whole class truly loved her and I owe her so much for her incredible heart.
