    I like to imagine that the clones had a holiday dedicated to them after the war, celebrating them; where retired clones don their old Phase 1 armour and uniforms, all neat and shiny, march in parades with a happy-sounding version of the "Jedi Temple March" playing, fireworks shows, and TIE Fighter flypasts, and they give speeches to the admiring crowds, and schoolkids give speeches of their own, and read poems and perform songs for the old clones.

      I feel the armor could be a choice (some were deployed after the phase 2 switch and its generally said most clones liked phase 2 better as it was more comfortable (then you get weird clones like rex who litterly decided to combine parts of both sets (not just mix and match, his helmet is litterly welded together and made from a phase 1 and 2 helmet)), some clones served in different units during the war, some changed branches (some line troops were even promoted into clone commando and ARC teams, some infentry became pilots and vise versa) and I feel if they wre going to give them this ceremony they would let them dress in the uniform they perfered the most (think about if, if you started as a phase 1 shiny and ended the war in personalized phase 2 ARC trooper kit what uniform would you personally identify with (opwned ended question as either or could appeal depending on the individual)), I also assume they would keep a few squadrons of historic snub fighters to do flyovers in addition to modern TIEs kind of like modern military celibrations where it's a mix of different eras of gear, hell the idea of retired or active duty clones performing reenactments with old CIS and republic hardware and teaching kids about the capabilities of a V wing, showing them the weak points on a cutaway of a B2, AT-TE rides, hell I could even see them on planets with large military garrisons letting civilians try out custom simulations on the training grounds based on famous clone wars battles, the image of an old clone supervising civilians trying out a DC-15A on stun on a controlled range against specially programmed battledrouds is also really wholesome to me for some reason

    • @mitchellhayward6492
      @mitchellhayward6492 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      @@josephmontanaro2350 This parade would be pretty ceremonial. After the switch to Stormtrooper armour, I reckon the clones wouldn't still have their old sets, except maybe the retirees to display in their homes or whatever. And yeah, the pilots and such would all wear the gear respective to their branches and roles; but for a parade, I am kind of picturing standard-issue sets that never saw use. You know, the stuff that was made and stockpiled but never left the warehouse until this holiday was made. Most clones started off with shiny and new armour, without any customisation; which would look more impressive in a parade. Purely ceremonial. And only worn for the parade. And the standard Phase 1 armour stands out more from the stormtrooper armour everyone would be used to seeing than Phase 2, but I'm not ruling out Phase 2. It's a good point about the vehicles though.

      A pure fascist version of the empire (rather then the Nazi like version that we got) could of a decent place to live. Many nations in the past would of considered a fascist regime a marked improvement over what they had. Now while I shouldn't have to point this out but given this is "current year" and if you don't explicitly denounce something it seems to be assumed that you must there for like it (and some times that's not even enough >.>) so I no way support fascism and down right loath it. It's just compared to other shit forms of totalitarian government (such as nazism, which is basically a more messed up version of fascism, and especially socialism/commumum) it's the lest shit. It's like having a bunch of bowls of ice cream and someone takes a shit in all of them and you look at the one that at lest doesn't have kernels of corn sticking out of it and going, "That's the lest shitty bowl." The irony of this is that German logistics in WW2 were god-awful and easily one of their biggest failings. So it's kind of funny how one of the things evil empires always have going for them in Sci-Fi is excellent logistics and inexhaustible manpower when, historically, the only "evil empire" which has pulled these off was the Soviet Union - and even then their manpower was nowhere near inexhaustible nor were their logistics - both during or after the war - better than that of the US.
      So really, historically, it has been the empires of _good_ which have had great logistics and innumerable masses volunteering to fight the good fight.

    Also, before it was retconned, Outbound Flight indicates that one of the reasons Palpatine is so dead set on pumping tons of funds into his military structure (in addition to mostly focusing on the crafting of Star Destroyers, each over a kilometer long, which he did in spite of the fact that such ships were left largely vulnerable to the seemingly one mainstream and actually threatening enemy within his Empire, the rebel’s) is because he had an inkling of Knowledge pertaining to the Yuuzhan Vong, mostly granted by the Chiss ascendency (this is probably why he focused on large capital ship killers like Star Destroyers, which would have seemed perfect for fighting the massive threats hidden in the Unknown Regions). If Outbound Flight wasn’t retconned, and if indeed most Legends and Fore-Disney material was still at least somewhat canon, the Empire would be more like an attempt to prevent wholesale annihilation on a Galactic level . The Yuuzhan Vong War, which was between the New Republic and the Yuuzhan Vong, proved this to be the case, considering how devastating the Outsiders were. It would have been cool if we could have seen more to this side of the Empire, where it’s oh-so-evil rulers were actually focused on beating a race against time, knowing that if the Empire controlled Galaxy was in any way not united and not prepared for full scale militarization before the Yuuzhan Vong invaded, they would all be wiped out, which would have, in turn, explained why the Empire took the actions it did. After all, the prequels showed just how well Palpatine could control and manipulate the galaxy as a whole, so it’s a bit odd that something like the using of slaves or the using of what amounted to Gulags would even happen, as it’s just bad press. I think that it just makes more sense that the Empire was really just rushing to beat the Yuuzhan Vong, rather than them just being plain evil. Hell, Palpatine had Darth Plagueis’s teachings on how to preserve and extend his life, so he, with no term limits to be worried about, would have all the actual time in the world to build Death Stars, create complacency within the Empire, and forge the greatest apprentice he could, IF he wasn’t on some other deadline, that deadline being provided via Outbound Flight. I mean, wouldn’t it be so much cooler if, in the prequels, the Yuuzhan Vong came through and started recking shit, only for the First Order to come in with all their super powerful ships and tech, bearing the Empires sigil, instead of the bullshit we actually got? There would have been an actual reason for people to accept the First Orders rule, and to see them as saviors and messiahs, remnants of the Empire which would have stopped the Yuuzhan Vong, and not the Rebellion turned Alliance turned New Republic that had failed to stop the Outsiders from reaping a massive toll on the Galaxy. Would have been like, Clone Wars Level of Civil War, with each side actually being likable. Idk, just the idea that the Empire could have actually been set in place to defend against some massive threat, a threat which could have provided an epic backdrop for the Sequels, and was retconned suddenly to match the Disney narrative is annoying. The Empire could have been so much cooler.

    • @janbogar1250
      @janbogar1250 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The problem with this theory is that all you need to do to unite everyone against a common enemy is to just tell them about it. There is no need for elaborate plots to take over the universe. Plenty real world examples, it works so well that propagandists love to make up imaginary enemies if they don't have the real ones :)

    • @tannernewbanks5961
      @tannernewbanks5961 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@janbogar1250 Yes. True. But (without taking into consideration Disney retconning, only because I don’t know enough about the changes made) Palpatine DID know of the ‘Vong. Thrawn had told him all about the little buggers. And Thrawn was with the Empire for a while. Long enough before the rebellion got out of control. Honestly, I’m just not unsure that the information wasn’t released in-universe because Ol’ George Lucas hadn’t thought about it yet. In fact, I’m now sure that that IS the case. Your point makes too much sense for it to be just about anything else. The imperials loved their propaganda machine, and this WOULD have been perfect for it. Truthfully, the only reason I came up with the theory of WHY the Empire was so fixated on making big, unnecessarily powerful and obvious ships was because the vessels themselves had no place going up against the Empires single biggest enemies at the time, which were the rebel’s. I’ve heard that it was all about the fear factor, but that still doesn’t explain the number of above-capital ship grade vessels being pushed into service. The ratio of Capital vessels to Support or Escort vessels was very unusual. And even after the rebel’s became a major threat, the Empire still insisted on larger and more powerful ships, that wouldn’t at all match the rebel’s strengths. It’s weird too, because Secutor’s were developed in 19BBY, and were massive Carriers, capable of just overwhelming everyone. Why didn’t the Empire create more of these? The TIE and it’s crew were meant to be expendable, only very powerful in mass, so why not, If creating larger and larger ships, focus on Carrier designs, to be the ultimate deterrent to the rebel’s? Everything about the Empires military structure yells “We’re going to War against another SuperPower”. And to expand more on my original point, the ‘Vong aside, the Empire was planning, both in Canon (I think?) and non-Canon, to push and expand into the Unknown Regions. If they expected enemies like Thrawn and his people spoke of to be there, I imagine they would put a focus of being able to combat that threat. Thrawn had a LOT of leeway with the Emperor, after all.

With say, the death of palpatine and sith politics over time, the situation more than likely would have vastly improved. It seems the military idealism that made the Empire so successful only stopped when it came to the politicians and the Emperor, and those politicians were practically encouraged to act that way because of palpatine. Over time should the rebellion have failed, there is a chance that the Empire could have vastly improved had it been given more time to live. Or, gotten worse. It can go either way.

      Second, yes this is an often overlooked aspect of The Empire that The Republic was comprised of different corporations, dictatorships and outright crime syndicates that HATED each other and could do little more than "Write a letter telling you how angry we are" when they started killing each other.
      The Empire? Park a Star Destroyer over the planets capital or send a Legion of Stormtroopers to "Persuade" them to knock it off. Simple and effective.
      And in Legends, this was a problem that The New Republic had to deal with when the Empire lost power and became the Imperial Remnant. A lot of one-time allies were at each others throats over old grudges and I think the Bothans were a particular pain in the ass to people trying to get things working again.

    But yeah, the piracy thing was understated, IMO. Did you notice that slavery on Tatooine is not mentioned by Luke's time? Or at least we don't see it. There were probably an equal amount of Rim worlds that benefited from the Empire then suffered from it. Also, in Legends, it's implied that the Death Star could have been a weapon against the Yuuzhan Vong. Would have been cool to see its superlaser deployed against their worldships, if the rebel terrorists hadn't screwed that up.

    No matter how good the Galactic Empire in protecting its citizens, or in creating several jobs in the military sector, it doesn’t excuse that their very Emperor was the cause that led to the Clone Wars and created more problems that will harm the Empire. The Galactic Empire allowed more corruption within itself, and crime was extremely rampant than one would’ve expected from a militaristic Empire. There was several super weapons programs that brought economic hardship to the Galactic Market, and several of these super weapons were either destroyed or even stolen. Then there was the needless cruelty to several Imperial citizens for perceived treachery to the Empire, and which in turn created several Rebel Cells that come to destroy the Empire. There were too many problems caused by the Galactic Empire, and there was no doubt that several Imperial Citizens who weren’t in the imperial military or politics secretly cheer for the fall of the empire.

      While the empire wasn’t perfect they were a better solution for the galaxy. Crime wasn’t actually as rampant as you claim because they made deals with syndicates and cartels. While crime still occurred it was at a decreased rate because neither wanted a fight. As well Palpatine may have set up the start of the clone wars but he never started it. The Jedi did. If they were truly peacekeepers they would have sided with the CIS as long as they weren’t extremely violent. Their military sector was extremely well funded yes but the galactic economy flourished under their reign and was only crippled by the rebellion. Again I’m not saying their perfect just that they’re better than the terrorists who would often do anything to get rid of imperials which as I mentioned collapsed the galactic economy, resulted in more deaths than the empire caused, created untold destruction, and allowed criminals to run rampant through the galaxy especially after they demilitarized

    Many of those atrocities committed were against alien species that have done their good share of war crimes.

    Star Wars is so real it's scary, and does such an effective job of portraying our world as it is it's sad people treat it as "just a fiction."

    The empire was the better side of the galaxy, they planned long term for the galaxy while the pitiful rebels were only focused on being terrorists. Long live the empire!

    The comment at the end of the video sums up my question. How can the Empire be considered "better for the clones" if they were responsible for shutting off their humanity? Yes, the Republic treated them badly but you can argue it was largely done because of Palpatine, it was designed by the future Empire, so is it really the fault of the Republic? Yes but also no. If Palpatine weren't playing both sides, the clones probably would have been treated as people. That said, we'll never really know for sure. But the idea that the clones wanted to continue to kill and hunt Jedi is so wrong to me. I recognize not all Jedi were nice to the clones (Krell) but the clones had to know good Jedi like Obi-wan were still missing. They knew they could find Ahsoka and have to kill her in any mission. The clones killed younglings, padawans/shiny Jedi. If they had any humanity left, more would have left. But with the chips in play, they were never given that real option. Perhaps treating the retired clones better after war was really about keeping them from bucking the system? If the clones were able to defy the chip just enough to opt for retirement, then maybe there was a risk of large amounts of clones taking it the next step further and rebelling completely? Perhaps retirement was a way of keeping them in line? Otherwise, the empire could lose whole battalions just in response to a morally gray mission. Just a thought.

    All that was ever focused on was the bad of the Empire, but you never see the implied good that it did, the order that it brought to a chaotic and war-torn galaxy. Not only was there deep political division, but the galaxy under the Republic was deeply, deeply saturated with crime Syndicates, corruption, etc. You also never hear about the genocides committed by the rebels, or the billions, possibly trillions, of beings that were enslaved, murdered, or starved to death after the Empire fell.

    Tam in Star Wars Resistance mentioned how her grandfather got a job thanks to the empire when he couldn't find work anywhere else. Yeager tells her that the empire took advantage of the venerable and he wasn't wrong about this either.

    The real question is, even without Palpatine and Plagueis' scheming, would the Republic have survived - not just in the long term but the mid-term. The Clone Wars show many cases and examples that showed that things were very bad, the war simply brought it to the forefront, the worlds under attack finally were able to petition successfully. I imagine the Senate being Byzantean in its corruption.
