When I watch your discussions on jog I feel like doing a very pleasant paced mental jog on the pavements of the raga.
My first observation on this ragam is in the song “Sreenagaratthile Chithravanatthile Shishira Manohara Chandrike …in a very old movie. It was a musically knowledgeable friend of mine who told me about this special raga Jog applied to the lyrics of that raga.
An army man from Kerala working in the most beautiful Sreenagar city reminiscing on another equally beautiful hometown in Kerala is the theme in the song. He bathes himself in the golden cool moonlight in Sreenagar. A pleasant feel is communicated here in the lyrics by Vayalar and Devarajan Maash never doubted the relevance of Jog in this context of the song. But he has (I don’t know if I am right ) as usual introduced other raga elements also like Thilang , Shuddha Dhanyasi etc. You may search for the Jayettan video in Kairali TV of this song. Wonderful.
I am at loss of words to speak about your ability to demonstrate how a Jog raga song would appear if it were tuned in a nearby raga Natta. I can only applaud and ask Goddess to bless you all always.
Thank you so much! Sreenagarthile is such a beautiful song with beautiful lyrics as well. Devarajan master has very cleverly applied bits and pieces of Jog and Shudhadhanyasi in this song. May be 60% jog and 40% shudhadhanyasi.. and its very easy to mix these two ragas because there is only one note difference between the two.
