It only works for editing restricted only. I lost password. I saved the documents in word. When I try to save it to rich text format. It asked me password. The save us is inactive.
great if you can open in read only mode. Doesn't work for encrypted/password protected to open the file. If you can open it, just copy and paste into another blank document and save without protection
Hi there, it did get rid of the password but it also got rid of all the macros such as all my plain and rich text content controls...can we not do one and not the other?

This is only going to work on editing restrictions, not on password protected word documents, which you can't even open without a password.
You are correct. There is nothing that will open a password protected MS Office with a password.

Some third party apps claim they can do this, but I don't think it is possible. If you do decide to try one, make sure it is free and safe.

I can't since I do not have the software to handle that. I'm not sure if any third party software would break the password to open.

That is a different password. You can't break the password to Open file.

There's another approach. Open the file (docx) with archive manager (e.g. WinRar), edit file 'word/settings.xml' and just remove '
