This story reminds me of Larry Cohen's 'The Stuff' as well as other science fiction and horror movies with infectious diseases spread through consumption and addiction. It appears that alcohol somewhat slows the spread of the Green fungus, but is not enough to cure it. The only way to keep oneself from falling to the fungus' mental influence and eating more pastries would be to drink enough alcohol to pass out, though how long this would work is questionable. I think that I've enjoyed too much horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and weird fiction. I totally predicted the basics of the situation almost immediately. My brain was all "it's an assimilation plot." At every clue, my brain was all "that's a sign of assimilation." I feel like a genre savvy character that sees everything coming. My brain is damned. Or elevated. Or both.
Is it wrong that I was expecting this whole thing to be a nightmare and Twilight wakes up in the hospital being told by a doctor that her donut was laced with some kinda drug? I don't know, I felt like the ending was a bit rushed and just ended abruptly with no explanation as to what was really going on
Nah,I think that's the point. Some Grimdarks and Darkfics don't really explain,but sometimes you don't really _need_ to know. Making it longer sounds like a good idea,bit sometimes it isn't as good when seen idk But,it isn't a bad thing expecting it to be a nightmare or something! As humans,it's a bit natural wanting the better outcome,especially if we care about the character in question.

I think that was the point , twilights mind blacking out as she skips over the end also pinkie was definitely infected first since her tounge was already fully turned which took twilights awhile to reach that level

Yeah, this is it, Darkest Dungeon fic incoming. But it could it be an alternate universe that has ponies as protagonists or just ponified humans? You make the call.
I find this one to have a greater depth to it. I think it represents the appearance of the internet. Some people offered something new to public and newcomers were very interested, so they were gathering around. And like in this story everypony are united by single thing that had come true and it is great because its possible to be as close as never before for everyone.
