We are a Polish family (Ania, Bartek, Kuba and Julian) sailing around the world with our floating home trimaran.

We completed an extensive renovation of the very first Neel trimaran ever built. For nearly 18 months we worked like tirelessly to refresh, modify, in some places rebuild Poly - our floating home, to make it like new or even better. It's been an extremely intense period for us followed immediately by 6000 mile fast sail from Poland to the Caribbean with the Winter on our heels. Needless to say we were so busy that we suspended posting videos on this channel during some of that period. We are now back floating aboard our home, recharging our batteries, and returning to our normal life. We will share all that with you beginning with this episode. Your Neel looks beautiful I'm impressed. Congratulations! So much sweat and tears, I thought you would never compete all of the work. Also, I think you made the best choices regarding advanced electric motor systems. The Volvo is a great engine. Parts and service are available in many locations around the world.

A friend's mother learned to fly at age 83. She then boaught a multiengine aircraft for her personal use.
Myself, age 65, endeavour to learn Navajo. I also continue to expand my ability in the Hawaiian language for I was born in Hawaii.
I am English speaking American of Swedish/Russian ancestry.

We can't wait to see and follow your next movies. We started in the meantime on a monohull Beneteau 57 and that on my age of 63 years young. It feels very sure and stable as a battleship. We met us maybe some were on the ocean. See you 👍👍👍

Nice. I've been checking in periodically and started to wonder if you were still around. Now I find myself "catching" you just days after your return to the wonderful world of TH-cam! Perseverance always pays off, my mother used to say. Welcome back. And please continue your English channel (no, not THAT channel, your channel...), I love trimarans, used to own a 45ft tri back in the late 70s. I find your comments on the Neel very interesting, and am fascinated by the differences in the design philosophies of your tri and La Vagabonde's new Rapido.

You handled the whole situation admirably - osmosis, repowering, new rigging and sails, fix old leaks, yes 14 months due to delays, the introductory explanation in the video was excellent, seems like a good fit representing Neel, and wise to collect consulting fees for your services. Poland's policy of limiting refit time to 14 months seems economically irrational as you might have spent more money on the refit thereby benefiting Poland. Good video - thanks.
Thank you so much. The time limit is not a Polish policy. It's EU-wide directive that foreign flagged boats can only stay in Europe for maximum 18 months.

Rapido and Dragonfly Tris are too tight for full time living unless you're a single or at most a couple. They are more of a weekend and holiday expedition boat. The way the Neel is laid out, the use of the ama as living space gives you the room to live full time. They're all beautiful but serve different purposes. Glad you guys are back. I saw your polish channel, good luck to you on that.
... But if it folds you can fold it and ship it on a container ship and skip major weather and risky passages!?? I wonder what the shipping cost is compared to ware/tare/time/turmoil?
I agree. The to me Neel is perfect blend of performance and comfort. Rapido cannot be folded and shipping it would be outrageously expensive due to it's footprint. In any case, living aboard as a family is about being on anchor in pretty places about 95% of the time, so the comfort is a must. The performance is nice, but Neel has enough performance to position to weather systems and outrun some. That to me is enough to keep my family safe. In the 70k miles on Poly we have not placed ourselves in a macro weather situation that would not serve us well.

Glad to see you back! All the modifications and upgrades on your yacht are great. Can't wait to see videos on them. I like the inverted bow mod, definite thumbs up on that. Amazing transformation. The double hull. Could you talk about that more? Could you also share how you were able to afford boat life in the beginning and also afford this massive refit?

Robert, this boat was prototype for Neel. Pertinent to your question, this vessel was also used for testing different hull shapes. Instead of tearing off old bottom, new design was applied over old bottom. Hence, two bottoms as you had observed.

As far as feedback? The technical and practical aspects are deeply fascinating, so please go into as much detail as you want with that. I personally am most interested in that, as well as the heavy weather sailing you showed previews of, since it isn't always ideal conditions no matter how good you think your weather window planning is. Nature can surprise you with horrendous conditions and I find it terrifyingly interesting to see what different levels of rough seas and winds are like and how they are navigated safely but also the toll they take on a crew both physically and mentally.
Anyways, congratulations on surviving the refit and everything else! Cheers! 🍺

One is coming soon. Right now we are sailing back from the Bahamas to the Caribbean and it's a bit hellish going against the 20 knot wind and 1,5 knot current, hence I don't think Ania is going to finish editing the boat tour for this weekend. The boys came back happily to the boat. No problems. Getting more and more involved by the day. It's awesome to see them grow like this. Cheers,

This video came out 5 days ago and I never got notification. I think if you dont watch a channel you are subscribed to for a few months it quits sending you notifications. Now for the QUESTIONS ------ Has the new reverse bow design effected the performance of your boat? Does refitting a boat give you PTSD? Did the 18 months off the water effect how your body feels while sailing now? Where is the best place to winter in the Carrib?

So interesting your comments on electric. I’ve done all the maths and looked at all the pro’s and con’s and literally this week (prior watching this) that electric isn’t worth the effort and to stick with diesel which is actually super efficient. More solar panels and wind and hydro generation for day use for house appliances but motoring….. those diesels are the best by a long shot. The size of a diesel genset as back up is the same as the motor. So full electric is bonkers and then hybrid is slayed by the insurance risks.
PLEASE PLEASE add a macerator to the head of that boat! I spend a lot of time in the Bahamas and wouldn’t want to share an anchorage with what’s coming out of that hole in the bottom. Better yet, install a holding tank.

Missed you folks. All that you've done and what you are planning is amazing, BUT (had to put that in capital letters only to emphasize), you need to stay in control of your lives and not fall into the same pitfalls as other TH-camrs, where trying to get a video out every week becomes a millstone around your necks and heads...at sea that might be bad news. If you strive for a video per month then most of us out here will see it as a celebration of your lives onboard and that is what these videos really need to get back to. Some other sites have pointed to stress and unhappiness along with the idea of it all becoming too much for them. Most of us out here want to live vicariously through what you become aware of while sailing NOT the frequency of your videos. So please, please, please take care of yourselves first and foremost, we can wait for the updates as we have after you sailed to Poland to put POLY up on the hard, as they say, to make needed repairs and your experiences with the nasty weather and winter that you had even then. It's great to have you all back and I personally am looking forward to the changes you made with your rebuild, but most importantly, seeing you all with many more smiles than those strained ones I noticed when it looked like everything was coming at you folks all at once. It takes a very brave bunch of people and most of all a strong family bond to come back after the amount of uphill runs you all had to do. Anyone who thinks it was you folks taking a vacation aren't worth the worry of whether or not they still wish the best for you all, and you can afford to let those kinds of fools drop like anchors without chains or ropes. Far too many armchair critics in this world, you folks only worry need to be your family and your floating home, take a lesson from POLY, she ain't no racer like you said but she sails along nicely (better than before I'm hoping) and she gets you to where you want. In my way of thinking, a home on the water that can do that gently and safely is a home worth of love and respect.💖💖💖💖💖❤🩹
Very well said. Agreed on all points. Thank you for caring. To put you at ease, being overtaxed is exactly what made us suspend the English channel for a while. We also have been known to miss an episode here and there. We try to constantly gauge and feel into whether what we are doing, creating is enjoyable or is it work that must be done. If we fell we're losing the fun out of it we put breaks on no stress. We know very well that we cannot radiate with anything good if we don't take care of it inside.

Since its the only sailing channel having a neel 45, i find your channel pretty interesting. Well there are a few other sailing channels with neel 43/47 out now, but you were the first, and yeah, i like your videos more.
Minor advice from me: Try not to talk at the same time. - maybe its just me but its a little irritating.

Thank you. Sorry, we're not very good at not talking together :D. We'll try to be better, but can't honestly promise on the results. BTW: Our Neel is not a 45. It's the only 50 ever made. It's the mother to Neel 45 and frankly all others, but the 45 was the only one that has the same layout save for the island in the galley as 45 is entire 9 feet narrower and that had to squeeze somewhere. Don't worry. We can already see that this episode is doing surprisingly well, so I guess we have a good motivation to keep the both channels going at the same time, thanks to guys like you.

I was interested in a Neel and to make it electric, particularly like the 45 as it is lighter but worried about NEEL build quality, seen quite a few negtive reviews on Neel on you tube. and poor customer service with Neel.
We are aware of how the industry works and unfortunately the customer service in the majority of the shipyards leaves a lot to be desired. NEEL particularly had a rough start or even longer, but my impression is that they did some significant homework and the quality issues are no longer such a problem. That does not mean there aren't any. We run a consulting arm at lovingyachts.com that effectively guides and protects the buyer throughout the process, among other things we perform inspections to make sure that what is delivered does not have any serious problems.

3months to 18 months. That means budget whent up? Did you win the lottery to get the boat fixed and upgraded to get back into the water? 😵💫 How much did the refit cost in the end?
I've never heard about a refit that ended on budget. We also don't compromises. If something needs attention it gets it. We also don't do spreadsheets, because we know we'll do whatever is needed to get everything done right. It's our family home and our life. So, no we don't have a cost beyond a very rough guesstimate. We did not win the lottery. Cheers, Bartek

Smart man looks at big picture and makes wise decision.
I understand this seems heretical, that many people are gaga over the next best thing. But the tech is not there yet. Such a system requires, relies upon, massive energy storage. Yet to those paying attention, the required storage system is severely limited, unreliable, incurs vastly higher risk, high dollar cost, and in most scenarios is reliant upon traditional engines.
No apology needed.
Hahahaha, you're right. In the end we sail so much that it would take 50 years to break even on this project assuming all the components would work that long :D
Some not so good posts on neel workmanship appearing ???
I would not judge Neel based on our boat. It was built as a concept boat and we bought it at heavy discount knowing full well we're buying it with all its problems. Neel workmanship has its problems regardless, but our feeling judging from the few latest boats we've been on is that they did their homework and learnt from the mistakes of the first decade. That is not to say their flawless, but then unfortunately that's the norm of the industry it seems. Cheers,

am i wrong but why are you ambassadores for a brand that caused you so much worries and was built like crap.
Because, bought our boat at heavy discount knowing fully well that we're getting into a concept boat. We saw it as an opportunity and a platform to create something ideal for our life aboard. And we made it such. We still don't see anything that comes remotely close to how Poly is compatible with us.
Neel had its fair share of growing pains when they first started and long after, but looking at the recent hulls and being aboard them makes us think that they did their homework at least to a large extent comparing to where they started. We still think that this concept is one of the best platforms for comfortable and fast family cruising and it's worth even dealing for some nuisance here and there that seems to be the industry standard any way.
