This ending always makes me cry because you can see the pain and tiredness in their eyes but you also see the will to keep fighting and how they help each other through the sadness pain and craziness and also it marks the end of soul eater

Ive been watching anime now for 20 years. When Soul eater came out damn it was a big thing back then. They nailed everything but the anime got overshadowed by Naruto and people forgot about it. The endings and openings are my favourite to this day. Mind you this ending is 10 years old at this point. Really the music is and the scene and art style is incredible like when Asura is transforming into a more powerful version of himself look at the animation like his head and tell me that this is awesome animation.

I always loved this ending. Because my cousin pointed out that this ending is basically a look at an alternate timeline in where they all lost the fight. And tbh I love seeing it like that

This is one of the rare endings I've always watched through. The song already has "apocalypse, and of the world" vibe, but doubled to the visuals ! You can see the sheer despair, tiredness pain and suffering (whether is it mental or physical) of each character showing on screen. The Shibusen and Arachnophobia (+Giriko) trios being good examples. You can see it in their faces that they are on the bring of collapsing. Another good examples being the students. The cry and anguish of Chrona, but also the main team. If Black★Star, Tsubaki and Death The Kid seemsto be relatively okay, considering the circumstances, the Thompson twins are literally on the floor, Maka can barely stand up with Soul's help, who I am pretty sure is too on the verge of falling. It's the final fight of which the end will determine the fate of this world and this ending is slapping it onto your face in the best way possible.
This ending is the demonstration that since kishin came out, everything is lost and there is no hope of any tremendous mother this ending .. And the voice of the guy who sings .. without words ..
1:15 - Look that face man, that´s a REAL anime VILLAIN! - I think Ashura has potential to be an EPIC antagonist as Madara in Naruto or Aizen in Bleach - I cannot avoid to feel sad to see his final fight was pretty short :(
Asura was the first fragment (son) of Lord Death, made up of the fear part of Death's soul. Kid is the second fragment, and Lord Death really thought it through with Kid. in a way, they are brothers coming from the same soul. There was a big part in the manga where Kid didn't believe Asura that they were brothers and Asura tried to lure Kid
Ngl yeah, I have to agree, despite myself actually enjoying NOT🥲 As good as I thought NOT was, it's absolutely not a good way to continue the main story. It was just a way to divert our attention away from the main plot😔

As much as the ending feels abrupt, with unsatisfying power development for characters, maka beating the kishin did make sense. His whole character is based around madness, and the ability to not feel fear. Everyone would sucumb to the madness eventually, and give in to their fears. Maka however, stood up to the madness, something the kishin thought was impossible, and reminded him of how easily he gave in to madness. He began to think that maybe madness did have a weakness; he began to fear. When he started to feel fear, he lost his strength, and was defeated by Maka's overwhelming courage.

If it was more developed it could've worked, but it kind of made the other characters and their fights seem cheap
The anime's only drawback was butchering the Arachnophobia arc and beyond; the ending, as you said, makes total sense considering Asura's mentality. If anything, it's the manga ending that felt cheap. 'Lol we can't beat him, let's have Crona seal him indefinitely'.
I like how the credits show what's at stake instead of what happens. And I like that it shows Asura is really Gerard Way. We need more of both in anime.
