Hey Z, I feel you should focus this series mostly on multiplayer (campaign boosts and items would make these videos rather incomplete/useless) I do like the idea but would like to see some questions answered: Why/when should you pick this lord? How should you build your army to complement the lord? How useful are the items/mounts and are they worth the cost?
I love this video concept and would like to see more. You could add a quick and dirty breakdown of when to take (or omit) specific items, skills, and mounts in multiplayer, maybe for a specific faction or tactic. Or, one example of when to take each mount and why.
2:10 It's not actually half of a unit; it's the banner that needs to be within the effect radius. While it's generally in the middle of a unit, it can move around after meaty charges and thus potentially screw up an attempt at buffing that unit!
"Duelist" means that you have a low splash attack but high individual dmg. so it says you are good vs lord and heroes. but in fact, if you are a Duelist you are very good vs monster units.
Nice, I would love a series like this! One suggestion: it would be nice if you could point out the pvp or pve context, at least in some cases. Especially with some lords and with the limited resources of multiplayer, it would be nice to know if the role of a lord is /could be different, maybe even a tier list of sort of the abilities (from the must pick to the least useful if you nedd to choose only some). For example, unless something really dramatic changed, the role of frontline support in PvP was usually given to Volkmar (or even Toddy), while Karl was mostly used as a lord/SEM killer and that was reflected on the choise of abilities.
Karl Franz is like that one guy whom every other guy wants to be friends with because he is so damn cool. Can you blame him though, he's a Chad with Sigmar mentality.
On Deathclaw he's one of the best duellists in the game. But anything with high mass, high mobility, and medium to high dps fits that role.. You need the mass to lock down the opponent and prevent yourself from being locked down. Mobility gets you on target and keeps you safe. And you need some dps so you can actually kill your target once you've locked them down..
Yeah I was going to say the same thing. I think a clarification should have been made about his potential to be a great duelist, because it's there. Another thing I was thinking about is the fact that I never really needed him to be a great support lord, I think it's best to beef your artillery and other missiles up as much as possible and assist your front lines by destroying their front lines with magic and use Franz as a hero/lord hunter or use him to protect the back lines since he has so much mobility on mounts. But I'm speaking strictly from a campaign perspective, I know Zerk takes PvP into account when he makes these videos.
This is exceptionally well done! You have very consistent, high quality content, Zerk. Very excited for Immortal empires with you! I vote Grimgor for explanations on the buffs and greenskin mechanics for the next one.
@@Casimir2811 I believe this is why he could be a good topic. Tactics of lords such as Fay, Alarielle, Morathi or say Louen are very well known because these have been used so often in previous games. But I've always heard that Eltharion for instance was suboptimal, or should I say outshined by his counterparts. I'm sure there are different ways to make him work, just as you said, and hearing about that could be interesting. The format could be a little longer, I wouldn't mind. The same goes for other lords, often considered as off-meta.

Emperor Karl Franz may not be the most powerful Legendary Lord, but he is one of the very few who I would trust my life with to lead me in righteous battle.
I don't know why but KARL FRANZ! Always seemed like an alright to the good lord, which is sad since he should really be great. It's may because he always has to have a jade wizard with him or that three of his primary abilities are not only common but don't really help him when his supposed main role is to be a dualist. Maybe I'm wrong, but a thought I did have is to give him a mini waah-like ability, something similar to Imirks or Thoriks, one just map-wide leadership buff and melee defence so the line can hold just a bit longer.
Karl Franz is fine, even fantastic in the right matchup and build. Aside from Volkmar or a very lucky Markus he is pretty much the only Empire Lord that can hard carry and get tons of value Stand Your Ground and Reikland Runefang are great for a duelist, especially since he needs to have support to lock down big targets. If in the midgame you have Empire Knights surrounding a Ghorgon, pop them when you fly in Franz to buff Karl Franz's stats while ensuring the Empire knights don't run away. Kill Ghorgon, fly around terror-routing scraps while waiting for the cooldown for another big engagement. Same principle as Louen and Sword of Couronne, lots of great duelists have support abilities.
In warhammer 2 Karl has amazing stats and magical damage, and im not so sure but also armor piercing too but if you put him on a mount he looses all those and stats take a hard plumit. I actually have him on no mount in the late game which allows him to do a ton of damage to both single and unit alike.
I mean, he's always been a world beater, Its what he is known as. The duelist tag means he has low splash damage, so instead of his damage being spread on multiple targets, its just mainly effecting the one he is targeting, hence doing more damage to single units. He will straight up 3 shot mages if he lands his hits and can go toe to toe with a majority of strong legandary fighting lords. He also has the bonus of having a jade wizard for heals and basically perfect vigor. I think he is definetly more of a duelist than support character, but his buffs certainly come in handy for his troops when around.

Single-target entities, lords and heroes have the "priority target" tag on them, which means that if they get hit by another entity's splash attack, they fully absorb its damage instead of letting it spread to nearby targets as well, so I'm not sure how meaningful the distinction actually is.
I've always found Karl is a fantastic glass cannon, he needs all his buffs though to quickly drop in on an enemy lord, mess them up and then get the hell out dodge. Volky fulfils the troop support role better than Karl IMHO

Great video, I feel like if you continue with these (which you should) you should include using Heroes effectively as well, and also breaking down different mounts.
Idk dude. That doesn't sound like the normal definition of a support lord. Because when it comes to just buffing a frontline, an Arch Lector has better support abilities through battle prayers and is much cheaper, same with a Warrior Priest. Boris has better constant AOE effects from his items (-15 melee attack, -5 melee defense, -5 leadership, and he can also bring Stand Your Ground), and also has regeneration, allowing you to skip a life caster. Volkmar has both regeneration and unbreakable, as well as the battle prayers, and is much better against infantry. What Karl Franz fully kitted out can do is kill basically anything with all his abilities popped, cause terror, and have great mobility, at the cost of being expensive and requiring a life caster (3500 points) to get all his value. A super expensive lord that is good at killing expensive targets sounds more like a duellist than a support lord. You bring Karl on Deathclaw, you don't have much left to support... he IS the support.

stonytail lifted Baurick completely out the the, sand floor upward's into the glass ceiling as the glass, ceiling exploded with glass Sharp debri's "Baurick" roared off into the unknown Gotrek Saw Baurick, fly off to his death' He squeeze down on his, ancient Axe With, anger The "Slayer" was confused why did he even, care about, chao's dwarf if he died or not he was a traitor an "orphan" but matter how long you hide, or the game's you play, against me you will fall prey to my axe I swear it Then Rock, Grim replied sinister then let's make it "interesting" Slayer since you're so confident' Gotrek as he leaped, and dive and slid across the sand stretched, his hand outward he "screamed" Gotrek The Slayer looked, up leaping upward's grabbing Felix's hand As he almost plummet, into the makeshift, sand pit Felix looked down and saw in Horror, Rock grim's head sticking, out of the middle of the pit smiling a sinister, grin as he Opened, his mouth that formed' Rocky jagged, teeth clapping down Felix realize, if Gotrek slipped out of his hand he would fall into the Rock' Grim's mouth, where he would be crushed and ripped, to piece's within The golem's Rocky jagged, Sharp teeth Felix, couldn't let go everything depended on Gotrek, to save Kat from Finley, Von Carstein Felix pulled with everything, he had As Gotrek, held on and pulled then Rock fang Stony tail thrusted, up through the sand, behind Felix and Gotrek as it was, going to slam right into them But out of nowhere, Lance cut the stonytail right off with a sharp bloody blade the Witch, Hunter flew gliding, toward's them as his Crow feather cloak expanded, picking up Felix and, Gotrek in one Fell swoop the stone debri's from, the tail dropped, onto the sand below them As it barely hit the companion's He flew, across the pit with them struggling as his shoulder, wound pulled with pain, he clenched his fangs crashing, into the sand Felix and Gotrek fell along with, him as the companion's were struggling Then rock, fang laugh replying you have put up a fair fight, you and the dwarf, and the vampire but I believe it's all over prepare, to meet your doom within my stone "Paradise" the sand, exploded beneath the companions as they flew right off the sand Felix hit the wall, sliding down he felt pain all over his body then Lance, flew inward onto his face sliding across, the sand As Gotrek, flew into the air hitting one of the stones he flew, off the Stone, and Landing back onto the sand as his head bleeding, profusely from his heavy, cut on the side of his head he received, hitting the stone rock As Gotrek, slowly raised up from the sand he barely held, on to his axe Then rock Fang, came out of the sand as he formed back, into a rock golem, he smiled Now You see me Slayer Now you die, as Rock Grim's Stony, tail thrusted forward's at Gotrek Then out of nowhere, Lance selflessly, sacrificed himself yet again as the stonytail impaled him through, the chest his hunting spear with a sharpened down ivory tusk as a thrusting point of the spear then his huge harpoon launcher stood by his side on his hands he wore a gloves with Saber Claws fastened in as he cannon with a attached blade to the front of it at the ogre hunter but he Dodge and swung around it then the Sky Titan swung it back as Stone tooth leaped over the Sky Titans Cannon as he rose up from the ground pulling out a second saber tooth dagger as he throwing it at one of the Sky Titans eyes as Andre realize the dagger was going towards his eyes he rose his left hand as the Ivory shaped dagger pierced his hand it didn't do no pain as it felt like a sting then a explosion of pain hit his ankle as vibrated through his leg forcing him two reach for his ankle as he drops his Cannon it Can you make a guide for Reikland campaign in TW Warhammer 3? I very often have problems with keeping high imperial authority, and I have problems with dealing with factions declaring war on me. Don't get me started on Grom (with his missile infantry that can fire explosives arrows). Should I wait to strike until I have at least T3 armies compositions and until then play defensively, or maybe I should in general wait for fully finished IE in TW Warhammer 3 before I play as Reikland?

How should you build your army to complement the lord?
How useful are the items/mounts and are they worth the cost?
Please more of this.
I love this video concept and would like to see more. You could add a quick and dirty breakdown of when to take (or omit) specific items, skills, and mounts in multiplayer, maybe for a specific faction or tactic. Or, one example of when to take each mount and why.

2:10 It's not actually half of a unit; it's the banner that needs to be within the effect radius. While it's generally in the middle of a unit, it can move around after meaty charges and thus potentially screw up an attempt at buffing that unit!
"Duelist" means that you have a low splash attack but high individual dmg. so it says you are good vs lord and heroes. but in fact, if you are a Duelist you are very good vs monster units.
Yeah, basically if the opponent has too low hp on the models, you're wasting the damage dealt. Overkilling is a waste

One suggestion: it would be nice if you could point out the pvp or pve context, at least in some cases. Especially with some lords and with the limited resources of multiplayer, it would be nice to know if the role of a lord is /could be different, maybe even a tier list of sort of the abilities (from the must pick to the least useful if you nedd to choose only some).
For example, unless something really dramatic changed, the role of frontline support in PvP was usually given to Volkmar (or even Toddy), while Karl was mostly used as a lord/SEM killer and that was reflected on the choise of abilities.
In Karl Franz's case i guess it doesn't matter as much but I'd also compare the benefits and synergy with the abilities of the different mounts

I feel like he is still a killer duelist but there's no question that we have been overlooking his support potential.
On Deathclaw he's one of the best duellists in the game.
But anything with high mass, high mobility, and medium to high dps fits that role..
You need the mass to lock down the opponent and prevent yourself from being locked down.
Mobility gets you on target and keeps you safe.
And you need some dps so you can actually kill your target once you've locked them down..

Yeah I was going to say the same thing. I think a clarification should have been made about his potential to be a great duelist, because it's there.
Another thing I was thinking about is the fact that I never really needed him to be a great support lord, I think it's best to beef your artillery and other missiles up as much as possible and assist your front lines by destroying their front lines with magic and use Franz as a hero/lord hunter or use him to protect the back lines since he has so much mobility on mounts. But I'm speaking strictly from a campaign perspective, I know Zerk takes PvP into account when he makes these videos.

Hum, Eltharion will be tough to describe. He is probably of the most versatile lords and can be played in many ways.

Tactics of lords such as Fay, Alarielle, Morathi or say Louen are very well known because these have been used so often in previous games. But I've always heard that Eltharion for instance was suboptimal, or should I say outshined by his counterparts. I'm sure there are different ways to make him work, just as you said, and hearing about that could be interesting. The format could be a little longer, I wouldn't mind.
The same goes for other lords, often considered as off-meta.

Emperor Karl Franz may not be the most powerful Legendary Lord, but he is one of the very few who I would trust my life with to lead me in righteous battle.
I don't know why but KARL FRANZ! Always seemed like an alright to the good lord, which is sad since he should really be great. It's may because he always has to have a jade wizard with him or that three of his primary abilities are not only common but don't really help him when his supposed main role is to be a dualist.
Maybe I'm wrong, but a thought I did have is to give him a mini waah-like ability, something similar to Imirks or Thoriks, one just map-wide leadership buff and melee defence so the line can hold just a bit longer.

Karl Franz is fine, even fantastic in the right matchup and build. Aside from Volkmar or a very lucky Markus he is pretty much the only Empire Lord that can hard carry and get tons of value
Stand Your Ground and Reikland Runefang are great for a duelist, especially since he needs to have support to lock down big targets. If in the midgame you have Empire Knights surrounding a Ghorgon, pop them when you fly in Franz to buff Karl Franz's stats while ensuring the Empire knights don't run away. Kill Ghorgon, fly around terror-routing scraps while waiting for the cooldown for another big engagement. Same principle as Louen and Sword of Couronne, lots of great duelists have support abilities.
In warhammer 2 Karl has amazing stats and magical damage, and im not so sure but also armor piercing too but if you put him on a mount he looses all those and stats take a hard plumit. I actually have him on no mount in the late game which allows him to do a ton of damage to both single and unit alike.

I was hoping they’d give Franz a power boost ability similar to Darkblade. When he’s at low health, he’ll turn into Sigmar for a minute or two.
I mean, he's always been a world beater, Its what he is known as. The duelist tag means he has low splash damage, so instead of his damage being spread on multiple targets, its just mainly effecting the one he is targeting, hence doing more damage to single units.
He will straight up 3 shot mages if he lands his hits and can go toe to toe with a majority of strong legandary fighting lords. He also has the bonus of having a jade wizard for heals and basically perfect vigor.
I think he is definetly more of a duelist than support character, but his buffs certainly come in handy for his troops when around.

Single-target entities, lords and heroes have the "priority target" tag on them, which means that if they get hit by another entity's splash attack, they fully absorb its damage instead of letting it spread to nearby targets as well, so I'm not sure how meaningful the distinction actually is.
I've always found Karl is a fantastic glass cannon, he needs all his buffs though to quickly drop in on an enemy lord, mess them up and then get the hell out dodge. Volky fulfils the troop support role better than Karl IMHO

Idk dude. That doesn't sound like the normal definition of a support lord.
Because when it comes to just buffing a frontline, an Arch Lector has better support abilities through battle prayers and is much cheaper, same with a Warrior Priest. Boris has better constant AOE effects from his items (-15 melee attack, -5 melee defense, -5 leadership, and he can also bring Stand Your Ground), and also has regeneration, allowing you to skip a life caster. Volkmar has both regeneration and unbreakable, as well as the battle prayers, and is much better against infantry.
What Karl Franz fully kitted out can do is kill basically anything with all his abilities popped, cause terror, and have great mobility, at the cost of being expensive and requiring a life caster (3500 points) to get all his value. A super expensive lord that is good at killing expensive targets sounds more like a duellist than a support lord. You bring Karl on Deathclaw, you don't have much left to support... he IS the support.

Then Andre swung his cannon with a attached blade to the front of it at the ogre hunter but he Dodge and swung around it then the Sky Titan swung it back as Stone tooth leaped over the Sky Titans Cannon as he rose up from the ground pulling out a second saber tooth dagger as he throwing it at one of the Sky Titans eyes
as Andre realize the dagger was going towards his eyes he rose his left hand as the Ivory shaped dagger pierced his hand it didn't do no pain as it felt like a sting then a explosion of pain hit his ankle as vibrated through his leg forcing him two reach for his ankle as he drops his Cannon it shook and vibrated the ground as he kneeled on his knee he looked up and saw Stone tooth flying towards him in the air with dagger in hand heading towards his head

the night goblins where they stood in the middle of the colony settlement where the elves were holding off and then she descended on them ripping and tearing on them seening this the night goblins were terrified and retreated as the elven colonist redoubled their efforts and attack them from behind the night goblins were wiped out they looked at their new savior in shock and dismay but recognize her as their mage leader

Can you make a guide for Reikland campaign in TW Warhammer 3? I very often have problems with keeping high imperial authority, and I have problems with dealing with factions declaring war on me. Don't get me started on Grom (with his missile infantry that can fire explosives arrows). Should I wait to strike until I have at least T3 armies compositions and until then play defensively, or maybe I should in general wait for fully finished IE in TW Warhammer 3 before I play as Reikland?
He looks soo much better with the new shading, his armour's supposed to be dark and in ME it was practically luminescent. Also his skin isn't bright pink.
