Dodge Challenger NO-DRILL License Plate Relocation

- Just had someone confirm this should also work with the 2015 and up challengers as well. How to relocate your license plate without having to drill in to your cars bumper. Dodge should have done something like this from the get go. They dont even include the hardware to do it the correct way.

Just did this on my 2017 Challenger RT. Worked perfectly. 2 things: Lowes now sells these toggle bolts for $4 instead of $2 and change you mentioned in the video. The plate goes slightly below the lower lip of the bumper, so any speed breaker or anything that hits the plate will most likely damage the grill. I might go some other route for this reason, but the video was extremely helpful and easy to follow.
This video was super helpful. I used the same principle to install my front plate on my Mercedes C250. Saved me about $150 plus labor quoted by the dealer. This was also much simpler than using the zip tie methods I watched in other videos. Worked great. I'm now legal in California. Thank you!

I just did mounted my original license plate bracket upside down on the front right center of the front of the car on my new 2021 Dodge Challenger. It worked perfectly! It's looks spectacular! It looks better than any aftermarket bracket that I could have purchased. I would gladly buy you a case of beer. You saved me a lot of money. Thanks!
Just did my 2015 Durango. In order not to put pressure on the grill when tightening the bolt, I measured the distance between the grill and the plate and cut Two plastic spacers. Positioned the spacer between the plate and the grill and was able to tighten the bolts with no pressure on the grill. It looks great. Thanks for the tip.

This is a brilliant idea. If you want to attach a front license plate without drilling holes, this method is far better than using hook and loop or double-sided tape, either of which could come off in the heat or be easily stolen. Thank you so much!

Just used this for a 2018 Jeep Compass...they delivered it without installing the front plate mount (left it in the plastic on the back seat)....took a little finagling since you can’t put your hand behind the grill, but I held the “toggle” portion still with one screwdriver while turning the screw with another one.
Thank you, friend. Went to Lowe's tonite, got the toggle bolts and strapped our license plate on our 2019 Cherokee. Don't know why Chrysler decided to do, Do It Yourself license plate frame installation.
I just did this for my 2015 Dodge Journey. I couldn’t find 1/4 by 6in bolts, so I used 1/4 by 3in. I basically rigged the holes to fit the bolts. But, job accomplished! Thank you so much for this video because I refused to drill holes in my bumper!
Very helpful video. I just learned what toggle bolts are. I'm going to try this on my '12 Charger. Hopefully it will work. I was just pulled over and given a warning no front plate.
Great idea, but what happens the first time you drive up a driveway or a speed bump that catches that and rips it out? Since it hangs lower than the already low clearance.

You’re a genius. It worked on my 2023 Challenger. The only thing is that the grill ports are so small that you have to use pliers (I used a Leatherman) to maneuver and hold the toggles on the inside - a low power drill is highly recommended for the tightening.

My GMC TERRAIN does not have it either. I just noticed. I am going to go to Autozone and get plate holder and the toggles you show here. In TEXASS i have to have a front and back but i am waiting for my new plates to show up.. BRILLIANT idea!! OMG thanks!!! Kudos..Kudos
Did something similar on my daughters new Camaro she purchased last year but used Plastic Cable Ties instead. Worked out very well. At lease they won't rust but I told her to keep a eye on them over the years she owns the car because they do go bad and become brittle over time and break.

Just picked up a 2016 Challenger SRT 392 and the dealer was gonna drill the plate on. I said hell no... Ill find another way. Thank God for youtube!!! Thanks again for the info.

Great idea man! I have the stock plate holder and also didn't want to drill. I learned about toggle bolts recently when doing some DIY home repairs. Great thinking!
Thanks for this video, this option is very inexpensive too. Maybe the only reason Dodge did it this way was because it would obstruct airflow. Minimally though, but probably an engineer would want every little for proper air flow. under and through the grill. The Show-and-Go is like $55, pay a little more for the ability to stow it.. Thanks again!

Wish I had seen this video before I drilled holes in the bumper of my 2015 Dodge Durango. Now that I have, I'm going to have the bumper holes filled,painted, and mount my plate like yours.
My grill is different than yours but I made it work.(2016 R/T) thanks again for posting. I used some strong Locktite on the threads to keep it from loosening up.
Just FYI . In TX you need to have the plate in the front and 12 inches from the ground..... just a heads up to TX folk
Looks like the best option for now although the bracket hangs a fuzz below the splitter. Being the first thing to make contact, I wonder what will happen when the front bottoms out and the bracket gets jammed up into the bottom of the bumper...just a thought.
I hope in a minor bumper bump those toggle ends don't go through the AC condenser. Something to consider.

Have you ever poked a hole in the A/C condenser when installing a transmission cooler....because that's very disappointing when it happens.
Slightly scraped my splitter on a funky driveway again yesterday. If this plate location was installed, it would for sure have been jammed into the bottom of the bumper and/or cracked the plate frame. My 392 is striped and looking closer, the holes are already drilled under the stripe so I think I'll just do a bumper install and be done with it. If I ever want to relocate the plate, I'll just re-stripe that small bumper area and make the holes go away again.

I don't like how it looks in the middle... I installed mine on the far passenger side and it looks sick.

Please explain to me how, now after using the two top holes for your relocation, how are you supposed to screw in the top two holes on your license plate?
Threw me off too. I thought he was going to attach the plate with the toggles; until I checked back at 00:17, you can see the 2 small holes toward the inside to attach the plate. There are only 2 because the plate slides up into the bracket flange.

I tried but didn’t really like it. Then I found a product specifically made for this issue and LOVE IT. it looks so good on the car. It’s been a year but I’ll see if I can find a link to the particular one I got

Would it be a good idea to put the plate bracket in front of the radiator be as it is, or should it be more to the right or left of the bottom grill?
Great video---I just bought a used 2017 RAM Truck that didn't have the front plate holder mounted, and in Ohio we have to have the front plate. Going to try something like this---no way I am drilling into my bumper! Thanks

i like it.. except that i scrape my charger scat back bumper all the time. this thing hangs down 1/2" - 3/4" lower than that, so it will scrape even worse?

I had zip ties on mine, but it still looked shitty! I drive around with no plate and have been lucky of avoiding tickets. When I park in public all l do is hook it with S hooks to avoid the ticket fairies.

I thought of this but mine has the adaptive cruise control sensor in the middle. So this method will block the sensor.
That's an interesting take on an alternative. Can't do the center location on a 2015 SRT 392 that is fully loaded. There is a sensor right in the center of that area that you are covering. I thought about going off to the side, however I am concerned that I will be blocking 'some' airflow to the radiator.
The 2015+ grill is different will this still work?
If the plastic harness scrapes the road won't it break the platic that you put the toggles in?
It’s only below the bumper about 1/2” if you’re scraping the road at stock height like that you have bigger issues

Mine came with the car when I bought it. It was wrapped in plastic inside the trunk.
Are you able to remove this? Or is it a permanent solution. Only need my plates for a fix it ticket them going to take them off again.
