THAT kind of sailing IS the fun... always loved rough weather sailing here in the North Sea! Whne my friend and myself went out for a sail, all other boats were hurrying back to port! ;-)
for cooking offshore saw a cruising cat video where the family uses pressure cooker pots instead of regular pots... speeds up cooking time & less chance of spills... good luck with the great north!
Right, With his skills to fix anything and his mellow laid back attitude, he is almost like a young Brian... Yes Dan, i compared you to the Godfather of TH-cam sailors! ;) lol

We find that negativity and pointless emotional breakdowns serve no purpose. They don’t make the boat sail any better and doesn’t fix any though situation. A clear mind and positive attitude are way more effective.
You two are my best ever tough cookies ! You do show us the real life on a blue water "small" boat. You deserve my utmost respect. PS I just unscribeded from another channel featuring 2 1/2 (new born baby) Aussies sailing a (heavily subsidized) million dollar Français catamaran. A hotel suite on water. So shallow persons and their skin deep friends.😛 Nothing in common with you two or your friends of Learning the lines. I really love your adventures, your commitments to each other. Good sailing, dear young friends.😍
Oh that is not fair. You left us hanging. Here's a tip for you for your trip to Greenland as it will be colder. When you make pasta or potatoes, save the broth that you boiled them in and use it to make some fresh soup to keep you warm. That way you cut back on your water usage and you gain the vitamins that are left behind in the broth. Keep smiling and sail on.
Such a cool transition. As much fun as watching beautiful people tool around the beach is, I really enjoy watching the refit stuff and then the big sails. It's important to take some time on the beach, but you only move forward if you're moving. Fair winds!
So... need a new solar panel now hey? (I'm guessing that's what the cliffhanger was about. ^-^ ) I love the way your little boat just keeps bobbing along as if it doesn't even notice the weather being thrown at it. Reminds me of the little train that could.
I have a hard dodger on my boat, found myself out sailing the other day in 46 knots, 9' seas on a 6 second period, and hail at the same time! Also I have 2 100W solar panels mounted on it! The upside is also having windshield wipers! Looks like you guys are off on a new adventure!
Riding the Storm out on a Big Northern Blow Having to Tack makes the sailing so slow Sailing the chop of a Big Sloppy Sea Makes it slow to get where you want to be.
Pretty woolly, but probably nothing compared to what may be encountered in the N. Atlantic. A good opportunity to test what works and what doesn't. The dodger looks plenty dodgy. I know you'll get that sorted before you head across. Love to you guys and please be safe. Finally, as always, thank you so much for bringing us along. Steve
You'll encounter the beautiful turquoise waters again with a different climate. Glad the little problem didn't become a difficult one!👏👌👍 Have a beautiful sail⛵🐟🐚🐬
...So love your sailing footage! Best I have seen in living memory! Also loving the slo-mo stuff too! Will definitely have to remember the hammock in the companionway idea! So sad to see you leaving the warmth, but anticipation of things to come is fuelling my eagerness to see your next chapters. Thanks for another wonderfully vicarious episode. As always, have fun, take care and fair winds and following seas.... :-) Cheers, Mike
My thoughts too. I watched their whole video this time. I don't usually bother. And I think this journey it would be more interesting to watch. Hopefully more real sailing than just white beaches and bikinis
Great to see you out doing what you do best,I was coming into Fort Pierce I let and got waked from behind in rough sea causing have my solar to come off, just missed my head
Damn it! Don't let us hang like that! I wanted to see more... Great episode as usual. You guys have become real good at filming and specially editing. Have a safe journey and keep up the good work
The mother of all cliffhangers. Love your channel. Uma, Atticus, Nahoa and La Vegemite are my top 4. Plus 1 for the pressure cooker. Saves fuel and speeds up cooking. Combined with a induction cook top with a larger inverter of course it will change your life.
We are leaving the Abacos tomorrow headed to Florida. Seeing you in winter jackets makes me so jealous - I could really go for some cold weather right now! I'm also jealous that you're going to see land that is taller than your boat. I miss seeing hills and mountains.
You always make the worst parts of sailing look enjoyable, good job! Unless I had something really pressing in Norfolk I would have turned in the St. Mary's inlet and anchored at Cumberland Island for a few days to let that nasty weather pass.
If you cut your tomatoes 🍅 with the peel down so you cut through the soft flesh first it works much better (Less mess, less squished tomato). 😊 Another great video! Love you guys ❤️
Another great video guys doing some real weather sailing and doing a great job that hammock look did look comfortable if you drop the F-bomb I think so lots of laughs be safe
Why is it the Dolphins always enjoy or like or want to say hi to every vessel upon the ocean. I remember one time sailing off the coast of San Diego there was a dolphin or porpoise migration there had to be a couple thousand of them they were everywhere as far as my eyes could see one of the greatest experiences I've had. I've also seen many whales one in particular surfaced approximately 10 feet off the port side of my vessel it was Father's Day I just hung up the phone saying Happy Father's Day to my dad and I didn't know that it was there until it breathed out scared the holy crap out of me it sounded like a jet engine falling from the sky really enjoy all the videos looking forward to your new adventures
We had a dolphin encounter the day after a galley fire, night one of taking delivery on our 1953 Sparkman Stephens custom wooden yawl. We had a gasoline engine and a leak in the bilge. Of course next morning we cleaned and cleaned, still hesitant to turn the key...just then a dolphin surfaced and stayed out of the water a few moments making eye contact with me and I then knew it was ok to start the engine. It was quite a special moment, I told the crew it will be ok and it was...moving the boat from the Chesapeake Bay to Lake Michigan, uneventful thereafter!
Curious to know how you guys learned so much about sailing and navigating, boat repairing, etc. in the time span we saw? Seems like a lot of knowledge to absorb and apply, in retrospect to how far you travel?
We'll be looking for you on the Chesapeake! Great video! I did that trip last year in the gulf stream and gained 3-4 knots. With that, unless you have an S in the wind direction you stay out of the stream.
Aaaarggg! How can you leave us hanging like that? You are so mean (lol)! Nice video showing that sailing is not always fair winds, calm seas and sunshine. Dan you need to sharpen that chef's knife before you end up making tomato paste out of those tomatoes instead of cutting them. Take care guys and hope your solar survives the night! Can't wait for the next episode.
Haha yea don’t worry the wait shall not be for too long ;) as for the knifes we have quite a few that need sharpening, this specific one we used is a rescue from our friends on Cool Change😄 back when we were in Colombia

Uma from the warm puffie safe zone into the ocean. She loves the hard winds and big waves. Hope you have enough tiewraps to keep Uma together.

Great job! No motor sailing here! Way to go
Kind of makes ya want a full enclosure back there I'll bet. And a little Kimberly wood stove going into parts of the world with 4 seasons. Lol
