How about software. Normally they are geographically different as there is different requirements. MB service center for example in Germany, can they update it or if electronic module broken can they access software?

Classic economics - competition benefits the consumers and advances product development in the process. Cutting oneself out of such a market means that you will fall further and further behind. Even Toyota and Mazda are selling rebadged Chinese EVs. Outside of Tesla and Chinese EV manufacturers, only the Koreans are able to make decent EVs but are far pricier.

Plenty of vw golf imported now but insurance way more expensive for imported cars. But import cars are better spec too
