I watch and am subscribed to a few different wood turning channels. I have never commented just watch. But I have to tell you you are my absolute favorite. Your pieces are true art. And I have so much respect for your love of the wood it's natural beauty and the beauty that is the imperfections. I share that same love. And I want to say thank you for sharing that love and your amazing talent. It really is an absolute pleasure and honor to witness what you bring out of the woods you work with.
I dont care what you call it, bowl, cup, chamber pot... it's a thing of beauty Phil. I dont think I would have dreamt up that design in a hundred years. Bravo. Mark
Just back from a visit to Will's channel. Great work over there. I don't believe those could be human hands doing the pouring. Must have been a CNC controlled robot. NOBODY has hands that steady and eyes that good! I've got my first couple of natural edge pieces in process although I had to work with green wood. Rough turn, wax and wait 4 months. Not everybody has a Tuffy Marginez sending them goodies!
For the few thumbs-downs, one cannot will out free will. This is such a vibrant example of creativity, of artistry and mastery. How to be both firm and delicate, respectful and willful. Just beautiful Levis
Oh wow... what a gorgeous piece!! The grain and colors are really, really beautiful 🤗. I don't know how you do it, but you obviously have an insight to see beauty in what most would deem ugly. All the misshapen, twisted and gnarled pieces of wood out there are probably hoping they could fall into your hands!!! GREAT job Phil... thanks so much for sharing...
You should be proud of the work you do indeed and I hope you get an assistant soon so we can get to buy one of your pieces. They are unique and beautiful, would really like to own one 🤗
G'day Phil, I am really enjoying your videos, I used to watch other turners, but they talk to much, they give me an information overload. you on the other hand are entertaining and informative. I love what you can do with what some would class as a piece of firewood. I have picked up some very useful techniques from you, you are great to watch and even better to listen to. Thanks Phil.....I'm one happy Aussie.
Thank You Phil...That is a beauty!!...Phil you always surprise me by the way you decide to turn or how you approach a piece. Yes Phil you are an artist, you have an eye for how to approach each piece...VERY COOL PIECE PHIL...TM
Thank you, Tuffy! It's the wood you send that inspires me. Yellow wood? How can you not turning something great from yellow wood? LOL! Thank you, buddy! Phil
I wish people could treat each other the way that you make something beautiful out of wood that most would throw in the fire. You are one of my favorite channels.
Hi Phil what an inspiration you are to aspiring woodturners i love the information you provide with each turning that you do and how you study the piece to get the best from it, i know it does not always go the way you hoped but that gives great encouragement to people who are new to this and to let them see that sometimes you dont get what you had hoped for and that if it has not worked for you do not give up just try another piece practice makes perfect along with a lot of patience from a70 year old apprentice keep up the great work and thank you Jim.
While our style preferences differ somewhat (I know that you are aware of this) , that is a beautiful piece of wood! Wish I could have stopped on the edge of the freeway today-- large maple logs, sections and good sized long branches down in the easement grass, several places. But pouring down rain and nasty traffic said "Do NOT stop if you value your life!" So, sadly, kept on keepin' on. Maybe next time. Good turning!
Oh Phil what a gorgeous sculpture. To me its definitely a sculpture. And you say you're not an artist. I'm not sure but it was 1 of the great marble sculptors that said that he didn't create the shape but saw whatever was in the marble and released it. You have a great gift for releasing the shape that was always there in the wood. Beautifully awesomely gorgeous 😍
Wow, thank you, Glenda! I didn't know it but next weeks piece is very similar. Different kind of wood and more bark on it, but similar shape. I think it is some of my best work. 😊
Absolutely amazing piece Phil. The grain & colouring are absolutely amazing. All this has been shown to us by brilliant, considered turning skills. Thank you, I'm not an expert but as a retired South Australian Art Teacher I can appreciate beauty in nature & Art & so it may well be your best piece, no, one of your best pieces..
Thanks for watching, Garet! I love the color and grain in this wood and it turns nicely, too! I'm glad you could finally see what Fruitless Mulberry looks like on the inside! 😊
Thanks for another wonderful piece of turning and also thanks for the lead to Will's channel, I have not come across it before. Again thanks from another Limey turner.
That’s truly a very special piece Phil. Methinks you have become a True Artisan of your craft my friend & an inspiration to those of us who might look at an unturned blank like this and think, “ I can’t see myself doing justice to this - I’ll pass”. Watching you gives me that inspiration to try & as the better weather arrives & my long period of convalescence draws to a close, I’m going to be checking out my stock & hopefully find one or more unusual pieces to create something different and hopefully beautiful from, in honour of your good self. Very best regards from the storm ravaged British Isles........... Geof
How wonderful, Geof! I just knew you'd get back at it and it sounds like the time is nigh. I'm so excited!! Sorry about the storms but so glad to hear your good news! Still, slow and easy, my friend, slow and easy. Phil
Howdy Phil, just a quick note to thank you for the inspiration. I recently started turning and I have enjoyed your "what's inside this" approach to wood turning. Today I built the most amazing pile of shavings aiming for a maple bowl but ending up with the most amazing spalted maple candy dish. My neighbor gave me his pruning not knowing what was underneath. Thanks again. Mask and face shield on. Marty
This is your best emerging piece you have made by far! (not that the others were terrible, well the ironwood emerging goblet wasn't good, but we have all made pieces that just don't look right lol. But this one is great I love it. Thanks for showing me how its done! Its too bad mulberry doesn't stay that color for long, It will be a dull brown in a few weeks. I hate that some woods fade and lose their brilliancy.
Thank you very much, Mitch! About the color, I've got a couple other pieces that have been turned for months and the color has held. You must live where the sun shines! LOL! Very shaded here at Shady Acres. Phil
Hi Phil. I like that you give a good commentary on the specifics of your process. Maybe one thing missing would be the water content at the start,or simply if it's wet or dry. Otherwise great and I too love this piece. Cheers, Montana Wood Art.
Thank you, Jack, for your great comment! I usually turn dry wood. If it's green, I will mention it and often with the moisture content. It's just pretty rare that I turn wet wood. Phil
My favourite Phil that is stunning and would have pride of place in any room. It seems the narlier the wood the better it gets iam loving all your work keep it up. 👍
I just watched this video again.....I so love this piece. To be able to do this is what I aspire to if I live long enough! Great job, great piece of wood!
Wow Phil, what a great piece! Once again you took something that most of us would probably toss aside and turned it into something spectacular! Thanks for broadening my horizons in the world of turning. I definitely want to try one when I find the right chunk of wood.
@@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop , you are absolutely right. I've done a few emerging goblets and some live edge bowls and a couple of winged bowls. Once I figured those out it was almost boring to go back to just a plain bowl, even as beautiful as they can be sometimes.
Phil the moment you showed the piece to us, I just knew that this is going to be a an awesome magnificent and spectacular piece. Because everything you touch becomes gold. I live and appreciate your work.
Phil, my wife I have got to say that mulberry bowl is by far the best bowl you have ever turned. We also have subscribed to Will makes everything channel. Take care.
