    UPDATE: 4-2-2022, I have added an STL file in the download with a BL-Touch mount that will fit those printers that have the standoffs on their extruder stepper motor. Its is "BL-Touch Mount (Big Holes)"

  • @jrowny

    Just finished this mod, worked great! One thing to note for other people is that your Sidewinder may need the (Big Holes) STL file for the probe mount. I saw it and though to myself "wonder what that's for..." I guess some Sidewinder's have nuts that stick out instead of longer screws between the spacer and board. Nothing a quick drill couldn't fix!

    A video on which upgrades are a must have, nice to have and not worth it (for the sidewinder x1) would be so amazing.
    For example which fan and air duct are working the best, which nozzle is worth it to get and other stuff that's worth to be upgraded.
    Have my sidewinder for quiet a while now and I love it just the way it is but I really want to get the best out of it.

The only questions I have is, 1-will this still allow the printer to work with Repetier-Server Pro 1.2.1, 2-Repetier-Host and if so, are there any changes that need to be made to the slicer software within Repetier-Host? I primarily use Slic3r within Repetier-Host.

    Hey Matthew, quick question on the part where you level the corners after the first z-offset setup. Do you do this with the knobs or with the baby stepping under the "More" menu? Also, so I use the M420 S1 code instead of the G29? You stated that once the auto-level runs it saves the mesh in the EEPROM so I'm assuming that M420 would be the correct one, but want to make sure. Thanks again for all you do for this community!!

    Hi mate , i have an question:
    Why is your mod using the upper green connector Z endstops while digant is using the other green connector ?
    Could i use your firmware with the black wire connected to left connector?

    • @EtherealProject3D
      @EtherealProject3D  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, if you use my firmware, the black wire has to connect to the the Z endstop connector, and the stock endstop should be removed. The probe becomes the Z endstop. There is no specific reason I use the Z enstop connector as opposed to the other one.

      If you're still interested, I could provide CAD files for the BMG / Volcano setup which I've made in preparation to doing this mod myself. I'm not entirely sure of the dimensional accuracy, but since I've put the design together from the official BMG and Volcano dimensions, it should be close at least.

    HI.I double checked the process in the video and bl touch wont stop the nozzle from heading towards the build plate? Is the Bltouch plastic sensor supposed to be (extended DOWN) when it's moving towards the build plate? Because mine in retracted with only the tip coming out. And if I manually pull it out it stops glowing red, but still travels to the build plate.I purchased the breakout board from you. The info on the antclabs site is not helpful. I can't see a clear description of the wiring of the harness. But I have reversed BOTH the 3 and the 2 pin plugs (Upside down)and nothing changed? Also in your video you unplug a harness, yet never plug it back in, I assume it is not supposed to be plugged in anywhere else?

    • @EtherealProject3D

      You most likely have the probe wire in the wrong spot on the mainboard. Its the single black wire, it needs to be connected in the no 1 contact on the z end stop connection. You need to disconnect the z end stop and plug that wire in its place. If you have it connected like Wagsters setup it will not work.
