Thanks for adding this link, I've canned lots of meat but never pre cooked I'm gonna give that a go this spring with bear. Was very informative splendid content
What quiver is that in the thumbnail brother...first season away from 30 years of compound hunting..I never shot with quiver on...don't matter what bow ..if put quiver on and shoot it's louder and I'm a sound freak and assume a quiver on a recurve is loooouuud...I'm looking for a recurve quiver that easily removed once I'm up a tree and both parts connected....thx
I was lucky enough to shoot a sow in MO this past fall. I made both the front shoulders for my daughter's 1st birthday party. I could NOT believe how FAST people gobbled it down. Faster than some of the venison dishes I've made. I also did traditional hams with the back legs for Christmas, and we had NO leftovers. They all got eaten right there at the table. It was pretty awesome. Congrats on taking a great eating pig. They're delicious.
I would never have the guts to hunt boar with a bow on foot! I respect your skills and your self-confidence in your skills to do that. Thanks for the video 🇫🇮
@@Isaacmantx Sure they are easy to spot and stalk but they are also a lot more dangerous than, say, a moose. Pigs can attack you with devastating effect. Many hunters here keep a rifle and a shotgun with them when hunting pigs for this reason.
Oh man... I felt like a little kid when I found out you put up a new video, and couldn't wait to get home so I could watch!! I hope to shake your hand one day Mr. Hayes. You Sir are truly a blessing to bow hunters WORLDWIDE! And a even bigger advocate for fathers that want to and do take their children in the woods! I pray the Gods bless you and your family! I wish I could go on one of these trips with you to learn your ways in person. Your boys just don't know how badass their Dad is! Keep rockin brother! 🤘🤘🏹🏹🏹
Looked like a great experience Clay, thanks for taking us along! It's nice to see you're not afraid to take that quartering on shot, put that little squealer down pretty quick! Love the sounds of those Sandhills! One of my favorite wildlife calls. Right there with wolf and loons if you ask me!! Very commendable program taking young cancer patients and family out on hunts. Warmed my heart to hear about that.
Great video thanks man. No channel has a presence in the comments section like you.....really sets you apart and speaks volumes to the kinda guy you are. Hello from an Englishman in a cold Slovakia....God Bless.
That looks like a really fun hunt. So much game to see! Being from central Canada where there aren’t rattlesnakes I think I would be looking down for each step and missing seeing all those animals.
Congratulations Clay, tough to get in bow range especially considering two of you! I hunted the Callaghan Ranch in south Texas many years back, and was so surprised how so much wildlife could thrive in what looked like such an arid landscape. Everything that grew there had thorns on it! I was using a recurve and never got in range, but thoroughly enjoyed the hunt! Several of my friends and I did walk across the border for a couple of hours in Mexico…I was nervous the entire time, and was relieved to return home, and blessed to have been born on the north side of the Rio Grande!
I lived in the Rio Grande Valley for five years. Lots of great hunting down south. Congratulations for that harvest. They are hard to catch up with using a stick and a string. I'm looking forward to the next part of the series.
I saw that bow, and yup! Like you promised, that's the fire hardened Hickory in action! Loved it. Border of Mexico? And no wall in view. Interesting. . . Thanks for having us along!!
Hi Clay and Neilus, I also noticed you took the fire hardened hickory bow for this hunt. It obviously worked well. Cool content as always. Thank you for let us look over your shoulder 👍
I have no experience with the Restless Foundation but I have to give them a big 👍 for what they are doing. Ah, south Texas. I've been on a few trips near Freer, TX. Some good friends and memories there. Got my first longbow turkey in west Texas near Merkel. Your video has gotten me itching to get back down there. I think I will contact my buddy and check on turkey season.
One thing I have learned the older I get I love the chase and the hunt more than the actual harvest most of the time I get close enough for a shot or have the opportunity I end up not even shooting haha may be weird that's just me though
I use to live in Texas , made for the stick bow ! Really appreciate the work that went into flim , much less hunt too . Really top shelf ! Mark south Louisiana

Thanks for the video Clay! However, In all honesty, I’m surprised Fen didn’t pop out from behind a bush and take that hog out himself! You’ve taught that wee lad too well, if there is such a thing? Big love to the Hayes family. 👍🏻
I’d take an extra trailer for the vehicle and buy another chest freezer for the house before you take him anywhere again! 😂 Hope you all enjoy the next hunt. 👍🏻👍🏻
The parts not in the Big Catus look like South Dakota hunting in the more open prairie parts near a water source of some kind. However in South Dakota You need to watch out for the smaller Catus in pear style we have.
G'day Clay, I hope you are doing well, I was wondering, as a non-American, what kind of birds that are at about 9:30. I always love learning more about your beautiful country. And I absolutely love your videos, they have helped me tremendously with my own bowbuilding journey. Keep doing what you're doing, you are an inspiration to us all. All the best from New Zealand, Cheers, Joshua
I own primitive and traditional bows, I am proficient with them, and rather good with them. However I prefer my compound right now as I have some kind of issue with my right shoulder the dr.s have not figured out yet. Well I'm not gonna let it stop me, so I shoot my compound that I can hold at full draw indefinitely without pain. hurts to draw it, but that just lasts a second then stops when the cams break over and it lets off 80%. I can drill a hog at 100 yards (have, but wouldn't without total confidence in the shot) with it. I got complete pass throughs at 100 yards all five times I shot a hog at that distance due to my setup. 600gr arrow with 70% FOC. Anyway I'd love to spot and stalk hogs on public land with you in north central Texas.
Killed a big Javelina with a compound years ago. Biggest recorded kill in that county at the time. Wasn't aware of the musksack in the middle of their back until I skinned it. Ruined the meat because I treated it like a hog. Smells like a skunk. Lesson learned.
Clay, I've heard different things about how dangerous feral hogs are. I suspect some guides hype the danger a bit to attract rifle hunters. They've never seemed aggressive in your hunts, nor in Ryan Gill's. Would you mind commenting on that? Have you ever had one of these pigs come at you instead of running away?
