Wow Sherry I've just been planning to grab some paint from my back room to paint some denim. I'm making grocery bags to give as Christmas gifts. I've decorated with hearts cut from bright tshirts, embroidery, stitched some eyelash yarn on... And now I'll be ready to paint! Thank you!
Hi Sherry, I am impressedwith your bird painting skills 🐦 I think I am going to try this, Hobby Lobby has sales on apple barrel, and I have seen bags of different colors at Goodwill too! This was fun.
Thank you! It is fun to do and I'm going to try and add some other elements like buttons, patches, etc. I noticed that a lot of people use the Folk art paint as well. I think it is made by the same company as apple barrel and is one grade better so I may also give it a try but I think Apple Barrel works nicely. I"m excited for you! I hope you have fun.
I was surprised but I have heard other youtubers say they like and use it. Also there is a brand the same company makes called Folk Art. I should try it. It might be even better. Its a tiny bit more but so far, I'm using the one I have cause I have lots....lol
This was fun to watch you experiment! You give great details as you paint! Thank you for sharing :) I don't think your art skills are as bad as you think - I'm not even sure I could get cute birds like you do! LOL
You could use a very inexpensive mini projector to project the image onto the fabric, outline it and then paint. I use a projector to project my patterns, but it could definitely work for this too! ( For those of us that cannot draw!)
I think you should paint different birds and flowers on denim pockets and sell those in your etsy store. That way those of us who are less artistically talented could but them to embellish our us cycles with your art work?
I wanted to see how they did on their own. I was mostly curious how each one behaved as I tried to apply it as we all know dried paint likes to come out of nothing in the laundry....lol
@@SherryJonesDesigns yup before my hubby passed (he was an art teacher) he did a lot of paint on denim research and did denim jackets with angel and fairy wings on them that I sold at craft fairs. I am going to play with all of his paints a bit and if I don’t enjoy it will have stuff to add to my destash pile 😝
I would rather hand embroider, free style, on denim (than paint on denim). I can take my embroidery along with me to a waiting room (which I can't do with paints). Plus, it is easier to remove embroidery (than it is to remove paint).
Understandable. I am not sure its for me either. Though I will say this, I can imagine incorporating both elements into a single piece along with patches and buttons etc. I think it would be lovely and it was quite fun but maybe the 'do it at home' kind of fun.
You're wet palette ideas are genius ❣️👏👍. Thanks so much for sharing such a unique and beautiful project. Well done 👍
I'm so glad it blessed you! Thank you for letting me know :)

I'm so glad it blessed you! I've been meaning to compare the paints for a while now. Its amazing how time just slips away.

I totally enjoyed this tutorial so cool you are a good painter and it’s nice to know ow that Apple Barrel paint is the best
Thank you and I'm so glad it blessed you. I was surprised myself.
Thank you for being the "UL Tester" for the paints. I'll think I'd stick with Apple Barrel too!

Oh, thank you. I guess we are all our own worst critics.
Thanks❤

That is such a great idea. Thank you for sharing!
@ by the way, your drawing was fine. I’m not skilled in that way 😀

That is a good idea. I've seen other upcyclers selling heart appliques and pockets so I could as well. Thank you for such a lovely idea.
This is a great idea! I think they would sell well!!!
I have painted fabric w acrylics it really holds up pretty well. I use stencils alot. Wish I could send a picture in the comments.
That is awesome to hear and yes, it would be nice if youtube let us post photos :(
Question why didn’t you mix some fabric medium into the fabric paint before using it?

My biggest requirement was that the paint not be stiff and that it survived the wash
That is a great idea!
