  • Easy quick video tutorial on how to replace blower resistor and motor with no tools and in just 10 minutes.
    How to fix a fan that doesn't work on low. If your interior AC/ Heat fan is not working on low, or one of the fan settings is not working, then you probably need to replace the blower motor resistor. This video will go though all of the steps.
    Is your blower fan working only on the max (4 speed)? This is a common problem with the Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda cars.
    You need a new heater resistor, in my case the motor was noisy so I replaced that one as well.
    Blower motor replacement. How to replace a blower motor in your car DIY. How to fix blower motor that's not working. Blower motor location, inspection, removal and replacement. DIY car repair.
    Steps for the blower fan resistor:
    - Remove the plastic screws
    - Remove the cover
    - Locate the blower fan resistor and remove it
    - Remove the electric connector
    - Take the new resistor, connect the connector
    - Insert back in place
    Steps for the blower fan motor:
    - Remove the electric connector
    - Pull the little arrow on the motor then rotate clockwise
    - Remove the motor by pulling it down
    - Insert the new fan motor
    - Align the arrow then turn it anticlockwise
    - Plug the connector
    - Put back the cover and screw the plastic screws
    I hope that this tutorial is helpful for someone.

      Hi, yes in your car it's very similar to this video.
      It's behind the glow box and has 3 screws (5.5 or 6mm) remove them then turn it slightly and should come off easily.
      Before replacing the fan check the resistor.

    Hi I’m having the same issue with my 2008 Passat turbo when I got the car the heat/AC worked fine they still do now but the fan speed only works on 4 like yours did in this video, do you suspects it’s just the resistor or the blower itself ? I also changed the battery in the car and disconnected it one time after changing that so idk if that could’ve somehow shot the resistor because I honestly don’t know when it really started to do that I just noticed one day while driving it would only work on fan speed 4. I thought it was a clogged heater core at first

    Hi, I have a similar problem on a 2012 Tiguan, is this the same procedure and did you replace the resistor as a matter of caution or is it advisable... Mine car has a Climatic system, all was working fine with the aircon until I went to use the car a few days later and no aircon or blowers, I've been told it's the blower at fault.. Hopefully its as an easy job like this :) Regards a Tig owner.

    • @WhatTube
      @WhatTube  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi,
      Some time if the fan motor doesn't work on all the speeds then it could be the motor itself, otherwise if in some speeds it works then it's the resistor. But check all the fuses first.
      And the procedure to replace it's not the same but very similar.

    • @WhatTube
      @WhatTube  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, most probably you have blower motor that draws too many amps, sometimes this happens when there are leafs inside, so try to clean it.
      If you are replacing the blower motor make sure to replace the resistor as well.

    • @explorewithant8263

    • @WhatTube
      @WhatTube  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Normally they are on the blower motor and they can get to the filter as well. So you need to remove the blower motor to check if there are some.

    • @WhatTube
      @WhatTube  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It can be a faulty resistor, you can check the voltage coming to the motor, if the voltage is different in all of the speed then it's most probably the motor, and if there is voltage only at the max speed then is the resistor faulty.

    • @DomG1617
      @DomG1617 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      WhatTube it was actually a faulty resistor you was right. Thanks!

      The resistor in your car is very close to the fan motor, in some versions it has a black plastic at the connector.

    • @WhatTube
      @WhatTube  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi,
      If is not working on all the speeds, most probably is the fan motor, but you can try to replace just the resistor first, it's very cheap online.
      You can test it easily by removing the connector from the motor and check if there's electricity.

Maybe I'm just a weak part of this society as a female where they can rip me off because they can. Happy to buy my parts plus a cabin filter while I'm at it and do it myself. Cheapest will come at circa £45 all together (motor blower £30, resistor £12, cabin filer £5, or I can go for a more premium / mid-range motor blower at about £80 taking it all together to about £100.
