    Stamford Brook was my local station where I would often wait 20 mins for a District Line train while 30 Piccadilly Line trains would pass.

      @ianmcclavin 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Yes, Ravenscourt Park would be the same; there was a time back in the 80's when all Piccadilly Line trains stopped at Turnham Green on Sundays, but this was discontinued, with only an early morning/late evening Piccadilly service remaining. Chiswick Park would have been even worse, as you only had the District Line trains to and from Ealing Broadway, not the Richmond ones.

    The two A-stock running the same way, side by side is the catch of the day.

    That old stock was classic, and a very familiar tube sound for decades!

    Thank you for gathering and producing this footage from your friend. The Underground in 1999... this is the Underground that I was infatuated by, that was more important to me than anything else at the time. A quarter of a century on, and nearly 20 years into a life sentence there, my feelings have evolved somewhat. Some aspects still fascinate me, but if you turn a hobby into a career it is possible for the hobby to suffer somewhat.

    Love the wheel spin as the driver motors up just around the 1min mark. Happy memories of driving these beasts in the days when the Northern 4 different stocks - 5 if you count the couple of prototype 56 units.

    It was nice to see the sights and sounds of the old underground trains and seeing guards on the trains again and how new the jubilee line trains looked, thanks for the trip down memory lane and have a great weekend

    It seems quite nostalgic seeing the '59 Stock again, amid all the commentary in places elsewhere about the 1972 Stock on the Bakerloo now being the oldest!!

    Really nice to hear that you inspired someone else to purchase a camcorder and go and shoot some scenes. It's because of people like you and Jon that we have as rich a record of public transport (and life) as we do. Thanks for digitising them and sharing them with the masses.

    1973 Stock is undergoing refurbishment.
    6:14 - D78 Stock will undergo refurbishment work from 2004 to 2007, similar to Kawasaki C151 in SMRT Trains.
    1959 and 1962 Stocks are undergoing retirement and replacing it with 1995 Stock in Northern Line. It was expected that 1972 Stock could be staying, but ended up used to increase capacity by moving the fleet over.
    Now the 1972 and 1973 Stock is replacing it with 2024 Stock (166 trains).

    I grew up on the Northern Line (next stop Finchley Central) from the start of the vid - Snatcher Land. Anyway, it was a part of my commuting life '81 and '96. That came to an end when I got married and I made it very clear to my wife that it was impossible I would live without the Underground, and definitely not south of the river. So, er, that's how I ended up in Sarf London (Blackheath), and to my surprise, I found it was an easy adjustment to make, and ever since, I'm no longer keen on the Underground, at all ... and please, someone tell me, when did it become so horribly noisy. Especially the grating on the tracks!!!!
