What a killer show. I went to so many in Oakland then. This one was a wild ride for sure. Santana and the Dead on Halloween was crazy too.

Thank you to whoever posted this. I'm one of the stage dancers. Right in front of Bobby, in the long smocky thing and long glittered out hair. What a kick to see this all these years later. Beautiful!

If this the 89 Mardis Gras show I was there. It was general admission and I was recovering from a car accident in which I broke my femur like Dec. 27th-ish..so I was on crutches after steel rod inserted surgery and whove on us Deadheads where cripple or lame they let about 20 of us in 10 mins before the opened doors for show so I got straight in front row on the wall smack dab in front of Jerry and Brent...So about almost end of 1st set a few men walked up and im on like the end of floor row 1..the guy standing right next to me was sure not to bump into me because he saw I was on crutches but guess who?...Thats right Bill Graham was just taking in a song or 2...What an incredible show/experience..im from NJ so that was my 1st West coast show..God Bless The Grateful Dead🙃✌

I was also there, sadly, it turned out to be the last time I saw Brent Mydland perform. I remember so well his high harmonies on "Mississippi Half Step", so hauntingly beautiful; the musical chemistry that he and Jerry had was undeniable.

I don't think anybody ever put together a show like this. How in the world do you ever get all these talents together in one place, somehow see that they all get paid and all contribute? Nobody ever gave an audience so much value for money, in my opinion. It must have been so much fun to be there!

TheDrmedina it was!!!! I was 17 I’m from redondo beach,ca.. I was brought to the show by my hippie pot connect.. he was 27 or 28... and he was trying to help me.... I was a tagger... drug addict.... in and out of jail.. becoming violent and was leaning towards getting into my neighborhood (gang)... He said dude your blowing it.. your stupid.. you don’t what fun is...he convinced me to go up north for 5 days,... I had never done anything like that...let alone with a group of Huggie touchy silk skirt wearing dudes... I’m working I have to stop here....this the of the parade... I was on mushrooms in a cat costume... which got insanely hot.... I danced... laughed... leaped...spun ... crawled... had best time of my life... with in one year my bald head was starting to natty.. I loved silk... shots... tie dyes.. berkenstocks

I got a ticket out of the SF Chronicle and it was fake...got stopped at the door as the trails started....so I went back into the parking lot and scored a new one for $20 and met the krewe behind the stage at set break.....i'll never forget it.

Yeah, wondering how you got my footage of the show. I lost my tape years ago after loaning it to a friend. Glad it resurfaced here. Mine is the one you start with... Joe and Jerry and the crowd. I was up in the balcony center. Great shot of all the activity down below

Of course "I Like", i am biased. For the rest, this lets you realize the "hugeness" of the Parade ! I mean we aint takin about 2-3 floats, a few balloons and some smoke but A HUGE PARADE. Wild !

thanks for alerting me to this...very nice remix, although there is no footage of my float (the berlin wall) in here. :-( still...what a wonderful moment in time to revisit!

Alright, it appears not but I'd still like to know who. Best Aiko I've heard in a long time, maybe ever. All I wanted was to catch a parade 😃

@Christian Robey.. It was so awesome 👍🏻!! I'm guessing by now You know the awesome Gitfiddle player was Michael Doucet of the Cajun band BeauSoleil. He did look alot like Ken Kesey though, especially from the vantage point of one of the three camera that recorded this historical Deadhead moment in time.
Gotta 💕❤️Love❤️💕all the GrAteful Dead tape and video Historian's who have captured, preserved and shared all these moments, the attics of our lives.
We had a Grate spot on the floor during the show, though we got scooted prior to the parade, it went right by us and after it chugged 🚂, tooted and danced it's way past us we ended up right back in our original spots with most of our original floor neighbors right back around us, dancin' and pounding the floor of the Oakland Coliseum with our Grateful Feet's.
