      You're all making me cry now. Radio 3 played music of his on Monday and that brought tears to my eyes aswell. A wonderfull composer who will be very sadly missed. I don't know what's happened to the Spagetti Western Orchestra but it would be nice if they got back together again and did a tribute concert for him.

      L'idea dell'armonica suonata in questo modo ossessivo la dobbiamo a Dario Argento, e chi se non il maestro del brivido poteva trasporre lo shock subito da Armonica mentre, sentendo le 3/4 note suonate dal suo respiro, crollava a terra condannando il fratello alla morte, tutto a causa del sadismo di Frank (un Henry Fonda monumentale), quelle note lo perseguiteranno per il resto della vita, dopotutto come dice Cheyenne "uomini come lui hanno dentro qualcosa che sa di morte", ed Ennio Morricone non poteva che interpretare al massimo tale intuizione di Dario Argento, il tutto racchiuso nell'immaginazione infinita di Sergio Leone

      Black Country Gaz ...if you are a musician you should already know how to bend a harmonica note. But since you are a musician, what key of harmonica is being used here. Is it a Marine Band or a Special 20? Hmmm could possibly be chromatic......do you think it is?

    • @blackcountrygaz7080
      @blackcountrygaz7080 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@68blues I play the guitar and sing, not really a Harmonica lol. I have a set of blues Diatonic harps that I have used in a SKA band, but never needed to bend. It's a tricky technique, all to do with focusing a jet of air with your tongue well forward then seamlessly drawing the air in and altering the shape off the inside of your mouth, and pulling with your diaphragm. Hard to explain but it just happened and was weird. Seemed really hard but now after a couple of days it's very easy, but you have to have the knack. I guess singing all my life helps. I use a G harp, hole 6 plus bend and hole 5. You have to suck air in too not blow, crazy but rewarding, om not perfect but still pleased with the sound so far.

      Harmonica/mouth-harp: better than the original.
      But when comparing the guitar in this rendition, it lacks the nasty distortion that defined the original recordings. 'Hard to get really crunchy, ripping distortion from a Gretsch, which has pickups that accentuate the fuller tones and sustain of a hollow-body instrument. I'm guessing the 1968 version, under Morricone's direction, used a Fender or Gibson, with more powerful bridge pickups, and an amp with adequate overdrive to deliver the dissonant tones that convey the seething vengefulness of Charles Bronson's character.

    Para muestra del genio que fue Ennio Morricone. El gran Ennio, su música llena de armonía, elegancia pero sobre todo, de sentimientos que a uno lo siguen cimbrando. En él se vio la mezquindad gringa de nunca haberle dado un Óscar en competencias por la estatuilla y al final se lo dieron porque ya no pudieron evitar el enorme peso de calidad del italiano a pesar de siempre preferir a sus gringos de mucho menor calidad. Se fue este 6 de julio 20. Ahora dirigirá al coro celestial junto a otros monstruos como Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Tchaikovsky... Adiós al maestro, al genio...

    Les musiques d'Ennio Morricone et celle-ci en particulier me donnent des frissons. J'étais tout petit lorsque mon grand-père, qui était projectionniste, me faisait entrer dans le local de projection par une toute petite porte et me laissait regarder tout ces films, parmi lesquels ceux de Sergio Leone, ça vous rappelle quelque chose ? Lorsque j'ai vu le film Cinema Paradiso j'ai pleuré car à peu de chose près c'était mon histoire que je voyais à l'écran (ce que je vous raconte est parfaitement vrai !!!). A l'époque je ne savais pas que j'était en train de regarder des chefs d'oeuvre, j'étais trop petit pour m'en rendre compte mais j'en étais fasciné.
    Ennio Morricone est un monument pour moi, mais j'apprécie également d'autres compositeurs.

    I can hear so many things in this piece.. There is sadness, memories of a lost past, there is despair, bitter sorrow, anger fading, pain, there is something visceral in it, coming from the guts but it also communicates strength, courage and resolve in the face of the unavoidable, it lifts your soul to reflect about your final breath, your last moments, God's final Judgement incoming and what do you really live and stand for, the human condition and death. This piece is absolutely magnificent, a masterpiece.
