Here's a demonstration of the four corner air suspension found on the E53 X5 model BMW's. Typically found on the 4.8is models only, and rarely found on the 4.4i sport models. It allows ride height to be raised or lowered with the touch of a button for access height or off road driving.
The car automatically goes back to normal mode (medium height) once the vehicle speed reaches about 25 miles per hour. Effectively the off road and lowered modes can be driven only in scenarios under 25 MPH.

Nice one. I just bought a 4.8iS so this taught me one of the many things I'm having to learn about the beast 😂

Lol - I have an e53 4.8is and first time I've sewn this work properly despite all the parts being changed. Works intermittently tjough and now and again reset with INPA software

That low suspension makes it sportier. 👍🏻

It'd be more effective if you could adjust the front and rear independently. Even if it is only the inch up and down from standard. Then again, because it changs back after such low speeds, I suppose it doesnt matter.

I don't think it's that difficult but I wouldn't recommend it. Why not enjoy the engineering and advantages and just repair it correctly? The Arnott products linked in the description are great products and reliable.

What did you use for the controller? Did you use factory air tanks?

that entire setup is completely factory. Rare option on the 4.4i, stock on the 4.8is.

All of that for a few inches of ride height, it's a great trouble creator for BMW....again.

Scott McKinney it’s actually a really cool feature once sorted. Drove this to my friends wedding on the cape last summer and torrential rains caused flooding. We lifted the x5 for the unpaved back roads and it was worth it. Air ride is also more plush than a coil spring.

Its not even a few. Its only 1 inch. Id expect at least 3 inches

@@dusaintel yeah i mean what the hell is point in 1 inch lowering and rising... atleast have it like you said 3 inches so it makes difference

eXampL yea exactly. As for the comfort its a great feature that will keep draining your wallet. As for offroad capability the ML and GL has the highest lift option especially those with the offroad package.

From the normal ride height it can be raised 1 inch or lowered 1 inch, this makes it 2 inches raised or 2 inches lowered darling
